  • I have a movement disorder, much like this, except that it can include arms, legs, and now head moving back and forth. It is hard to get a diagnosis. My son has myoclonic movements now, and his infant daughter recently diagnosed with myoclonic type of seizures.

Anyone else out there with this kind of problem?

  • this could be anxiety related too. I suffer from anxiety and I used to have something similar to this..:(

  • @getfunky79

This has nothing to do with anxiety.

  • Yes I hope so too... Thank you for answering! And good luck to you. I hope this illness doesn't take away your joy in life! Love from Holland.

  • Yes I did have EEG monitoring and during my muscle contractions there was no sign of epileptic activity, but in between there was. They think it starts somewhere deep in my brain, which is the reason they can't register with normal EEG, they are considering deep EEG through mouth now. It looks the same though my contractions are more rythmic ( every 5-10 seconds). An episode can go on for 45 minutes with torn apart muscles as result. I have to stop them with medication. Love from Holland!

Surface electrodes can record only about one third of the electrical activity in the brain, so deeper seizures wouldn't show up with the usual EEG. Your problem seems to be very different from what I have here (which is not epilepsy). I hope they can find out what is wrong and find some way to help you.

  • Dear Isisbridge, I am very happy to see your video. For 3 years I've been looking for someone with the same symptoms. Mine are quite simular. I call it my 'involuntary contractions'. It effects the whole right part of my body and it hurts. My movements can be provoced with 50 hrz, some patterns and colours. The neurologists think it could be epilepsy, or dystonia, they don't know. Strange question: Do you sometimes have goosebumps in patterns somewhere on your body?Thnx for sharing.

  • @JorindaNL

Have you had EEG monitoring? If it's epilepsy it would be likely to show up on EEG, whereas dystonia probably wouldn't. I've never heard of dystonia being provoked by patterns or colours, so that sounds more like epilepsy. No, I haven't noticed any goosebumps occurring in patterns.

  • @JorindaNL

I have this problem. I also get the goosebumps in a rash like pattern.?.?
