being only a three dimensional being, I applaud your efforts (to the creators of this "4-D" game) yet I am thinking that a true 4D game wouldn't really be playable by us, since we haven't "awakened" yet to more than 3 spacial dimensions, and so thus, this is just "fancy, complicated" 3-D :D
@Oxxyjoe It should be playable by some. But angled perspectives and the lack of a good 3D projection (being screens a 2D image of 4D which sucks) makes it hard.
bro, time can be a dimension if you're describing the position of an object in 3 dimensional spacetime (time being the 4th). However, it's also conceivable and mathematically possible to have 4 (or more) perpendicular geometrical axes, in which case time would be the 5th dimension (describing an object in 4 dimensional spacetime). In fact, as hard as it may be to imagine, mathematics even permits non-integer numbers of dimensions (e.g. 3.5).
life is in 3 dimensions and calling it 4d is like saying that the movement etc witnessed in the game cant be copied in real life. so is it really possible to have 4 dimensions?
a 4 dimensional game, embed in a 3D space, on a 2D screen, whose signals are traveling trough a 1-dimensional optic nerve in our eyes ending in a 0-dimensional neuron(ok, the last one is a bit exaggerated) xD
True 4dimensional gaming would be impossible for any human to play... all i see there is a very wide FOV + a Player Moving through 3d space. where a 4dimensional object occupying the exact same area.
Takes place in four dimensional *space* (it doesn't refer to time.... *sigh*)
And has your sights and guns occupying only one 3D "plane" or "space" at a time
you can move through it freely like in traditional 3D games but move through the fourth axis by holding a mouse button and moving the mouse, moving between the 3D "planes", you can tell a position of a target on the fourth axis thanks to the circle indicated around it, which also reveals urs
Indeed, is an interesting concept of a new pc game. It's probably called 4d gaming because it adds a new kind of control of the spaceship. It's nonsense to say that we can play in 4d. We don't even know what the fourt-dimension is...our brain is limited. Of course a 3d object has a flat shadow and making an analogy we can say that a 4d "object" has a 3d shadow, but who knows. Everything is based on a set of initial conditions and theories.
@vely213 Actually, if all the motion is recorded/scripted, you could feature the option of traveling back/forth through the NPCs' activities and thus achieving fourth(time) dimensional travel.
well the way the game kind of looked to me, was the player did enter "4D space" but he seemed surrounded by the three dimensional objects, allowing himself to move to any location within the three dimensional space...it's hard to picture 4D, it could also be because hardware isn't developed for "4D games". However, if in the 4th dimension, you are surrounded by three dimensional objects, and can go into any three dimensional space desired...this supports the concept of teleportation.
I played this... it wasn't very great. The idea of a game in 4 dimensions sounds really cool especially cuz you have to look in three dimension. But unfortunately the hardware we currently use clearly wasn't made for this kind of game and it suffers greatly for trying to compensate. We'd need some kind of a 3d mouse to make aiming work as it should. Plus all we can still see is a 3d screen. Just some objects are on different positions on a 4th axis. It doesn't really feel like anything special.
ok, by 4D he means 4 spacial dimensions, not time. it is a difficult concept because you live in a 3D world. imagine if your whole life you could only go, up, down, forward and back. then you suddenly can go left and right, you would have to learn how to walk all over again.
what is that game called where you just create stuff and it comes to life and interacts and you just draw lines, circles and they move via the circumstances?
Counting 4d as 3d + time, to a game be only 3d, the game would need to load itself and only them show the game, the game would have no intro and menu, you would start in the game and the game would be a 3d pic and you woulnd be able to change anything in the game. This pic could have many many balls and the words "how many balls are on the pic", you would have to guess and look on some txt file or website to see if you guessed right.
I had to run it in safe mode, and it half works. For some reason it only lets me rotate away from the things I'm supposed to be shooting at. X and Z are fine, but the Y is always not able to move the direction I want it to.
The only way to make a 4d game is to have the level and all the objects in it curved without the player knowing it without watching an object fall. If you are on one side of the level and your friend is on the other, if you walk strait toward him, while he walks up, both of you would lose sight of each other. Eventually you would both go back to your original position, but you would see an upside down projection of your friends character!
Update: I cleaned out my windows temp files and ran it in safe mode. That seems to have cleared everything up. Now to figure out how this thing works. :)
you can't see in 4D but you can visualise moving around in it with the aid of simulations. you can make an image of a cube on flat paper (2D) and you can make an image of a 4D cube, a hypercube. i don't know if this is real but it would be really cool, and brainachey.
You don't see more than 3D. But you can see the projection of the fourth. For example, if you blank one of your eyes, you will see only in 2D, but you won't be blind, you'll see 3D objects, but in 2D. If you play a game, what can simulate 4D, you'll see just 3D, but it's 4D. :D
theres a game called singularity and it allows u to warp time and make things older or younger. so u can point at a broken wall and reverse it to a point where it was there and all fixed, also take an empty gas tank and reverse it to make it full. even rapidly age things lik ppl :P. now thats 4d gaming to me.

Whatever I said, I probably meant all of it, but take it with a grain of salt, because I have no idea what it was. I don't have time to keep track of all my trolling. But if you continue to reply to me, I'll more than likely reply back, 4chan rules apply.
@sabriath well, I'm not going to recap everything from previous comments. For me, it's just a quick look at the video and the comments I made, then I remember. And I always respond to comments, kinda like how you seem to. And I don't care if you meant all of it, lol, all I was doing is clearing things up, so people who are interested in the "4D concept" aren't misled by people who just troll around.
@Tarandarklord : but there is no "concept" here....it reminds me of metroid prime, therefore the "concept" has already been touched on. 4D is time with 3D space, if you want to get technical with it, this is simply 3D with spectral interleave, not 4D...and it's not even 3D since it's on a flat screen without dual channels, so it's 3D rendered on 2D with spectral interleave....where this magical "4D" that isn't time comes in, I don't see it.
@sabriath whether the concept has been touched on or not doesn't change the fact that it's still a concept. Just like the Virtual Machine concept, it's been touched on many times, but it's still a concept. In modern physics, the 4th dimension is not time. In some contexts, the 4th dimension is time. In modern physics the 4th dimension introduces the W axis. Which goes diagnally outwards from the Y and Z axis. Look up Tesseract, and you'll see what multi-dimensional cubes would look like.
@Tarandarklord : are you smoking crack? The 4th dimension IS time...if you go diagonal from the YZ you still have spacial vectoring, wtf...put down the glass pipe. A tesseract is some retarded concoction by pseudo-scientists who believe in 27+ dimensions of space-time. Einstein theorized only 4 dimensions exist, and some think 10. I'll go with Einstein because the infinite world theory doesn't hold water (in inf, anything is possible, like a creature to destroy all universes).
@sabriath Since you're obviously over-reacting to this...fluffly little form of amusement I've been entertaining myself with, I'll just say "alright i surrender you win...blablabla" since it seems to matter THAT much to you lol. And no, I'm not smoking crack - but judging by how much of a silly reaction I'm getting from you (the swearing, childish accusations, etc etc) it would seem that you are. That's just my opinion. But now that you "won" this compulsive need to "be right" should have passed
@Tarandarklord : I'm sorry, did you miss the part where I said "I just like trolling"? I have no compulsiveness to be right, I just have a compulsion to make someone else wrong and laugh at it.....I don't even have to be right to make it work.
It's fun, you should give it a try...just pick someone at random and go to town on them. The internet rules are "if it sounds right, it must be right" and "anonymity allows for stupidity". :)
@Tarandarklord : and by the way...."pseudoscientist" = common man without a degree in the field who comes up with crackpot shit most of the time.
Einstein's theories on relativity and the like have still not been disproved (but many times proven). If you can't effect it or it can't effect you, then there is no dimension for it, and until someone comes up with a way to do it, they don't exist in the meantime.
@sabriath alright, alright, I see your level. You're far too easily angered to have a casual argument about something. So just calm down man. And that thing about something not existing until it's proven to exist - from my perspective, that's a load of nonsense. If something exists, it exists, whether we can currently prove it or not. It's BELIEVED not to exist until it's proven, would make more sense. And I know what a pseudoscientist is - don't treat me like I'm stupid. =P
@Tarandarklord : I'm not angered....I just like trolling lol.
And yes, if something exists, it exists, we just need to prove it. I guess bad wording on my part, however the probability factor is higher on the disproving side than on the proving side...only because no particle has ever been witnessed (even with the LHC) to "go against the grain" as it were. Just like you can say for a high probability that there is no dragon creature inside our sun even though we cannot prove/disprove it.
@sabriath Well, as much as I don't really like trollers, you're better than the other ones i've seen. You're not retarded, lol. This whole "4D" thing is kinda like religeon in my opinion, no proof that they're right, no proof the big bang happened-etc etc. All just guesses with different probability levels I suppose. One side opposed to the other, easily irritated at new ideas...XD
@Tarandarklord If you want proof, you have to go into math, and in math, there are infinite dimensional spaces. The "big bang" is a theory, and we have a lot of evidence that points to everything starting from one place. Religion is entirely different.
@mmbah543 Yes precisely, but you see, math is proof because math works, and religion has no proof, just theories. Any logical person is going to believe the things that have proof, rather than the things that don't have any proof at all. A book written by a few people is not proof of anything. Besides, religious leaders are hypocrites anyways, if the pope meant what he says about giving to the poor, he should sell his fancy multi-million dollar home in Vatican.
The fourth dimension is NOT time. Time is, if anything, the negative first dimension, since all dimensions above it are spacial. (The zero dimension being a single point.)
This game has you play as a three dimensional entity moving through 3D planes via the fourth dimension so you never see 4 dimensional projections but rather a "slice" of them in a 3D plane, so it's quite clear when playing.
how can you see the for dimension if you cant see it. As far as i know you can't. You can only see the projected 4th dimension into out own as a distorted 3d object. Not 4d. yes you can simulated 4d, but it can't be 4d to us cause we can only see 3d, we can think 4d but not see it... if that makes sence. I might be wrong.
When I first ran this game, I thought it would be a spaceship FPS. I played a little with the settings thinking something was wrong with the texture shading. After understanding it simulates an extra spatial dimension, it boggled my mind. It is amazing that you can dodge objects by phasing out of normal space. Somehow It struck me as the hyperspace in those sci-fi novels, only gradual.
On first look this look like an ordinary 3d shooter.. having enemies that pop in and out of space doesn't make it a 4d game. Having the ability to walk across the 4th dimension doesn't help either. But it's a start. Are you still working on it though?
there are many theories about the 4th dimension. some say it is time. some theories state that there couls be four spatial dimensions. and this game is as close to 4d as you can come in a shooter. you dont actually see the fourth dimension. things just dissapear and reapear as you look away and towards them on the w axis.
I plan on making a version of the first US Sega Saturn commercial to advertise this game. "4D games. So impressive they'll make your brains burn out."
I just started reading something on 4th Spatial dimensions, seems very interesting.. thougn it's just a theory and is widely discussed wikipedia_org_wiki_4th_dimension
Tetraspace, 4D, and, as an axis, W. I have sound enough reasoning to personally hold the belief that true interdimensional contact isn't permanently possibly for a number of reasons, but mathematically, it can be simulated. I'd recommend reading tetraspace. alkaline. org

It's fun, you should give it a try...just pick someone at random and go to town on them. The internet rules are "if it sounds right, it must be right" and "anonymity allows for stupidity". :)
It's psychological foam bats, *smack smack* lol

@Tarandarklord : and by the way...."pseudoscientist" = common man without a degree in the field who comes up with crackpot shit most of the time.
Einstein's theories on relativity and the like have still not been disproved (but many times proven). If you can't effect it or it can't effect you, then there is no dimension for it, and until someone comes up with a way to do it, they don't exist in the meantime.
sabriath 1 year ago
@sabriath alright, alright, I see your level. You're far too easily angered to have a casual argument about something. So just calm down man. And that thing about something not existing until it's proven to exist - from my perspective, that's a load of nonsense. If something exists, it exists, whether we can currently prove it or not. It's BELIEVED not to exist until it's proven, would make more sense. And I know what a pseudoscientist is - don't treat me like I'm stupid. =P

@Tarandarklord : I'm not angered....I just like trolling lol.
And yes, if something exists, it exists, we just need to prove it. I guess bad wording on my part, however the probability factor is higher on the disproving side than on the proving side...only because no particle has ever been witnessed (even with the LHC) to "go against the grain" as it were. Just like you can say for a high probability that there is no dragon creature inside our sun even though we cannot prove/disprove it.
sabriath 1 year ago
@sabriath Well, as much as I don't really like trollers, you're better than the other ones i've seen. You're not retarded, lol. This whole "4D" thing is kinda like religeon in my opinion, no proof that they're right, no proof the big bang happened-etc etc. All just guesses with different probability levels I suppose. One side opposed to the other, easily irritated at new ideas...XD
Tarandarklord 1 year ago
@Tarandarklord If you want proof, you have to go into math, and in math, there are infinite dimensional spaces. The "big bang" is a theory, and we have a lot of evidence that points to everything starting from one place. Religion is entirely different.
mmbah543 1 year ago
@mmbah543 Yes precisely, but you see, math is proof because math works, and religion has no proof, just theories. Any logical person is going to believe the things that have proof, rather than the things that don't have any proof at all. A book written by a few people is not proof of anything. Besides, religious leaders are hypocrites anyways, if the pope meant what he says about giving to the poor, he should sell his fancy multi-million dollar home in Vatican.

@Tarandarklord
A theory is something well tested. the scientific word that you are looking for is: Hypothesis
qwe12364 8 months ago
@qwe12364 True, but at what point can something be considered "well tested"? lol. Anyways, you're right. Hypothesis*

@IronBahamut HAHAHA!!!!!!!!!! Thatwas the best comment i've heard in a long time!

Nice game.
Imagine next game after 70 years "Grand theft auto 78 in 4D. Nicco Bellic comes back" x)
victorbatov 3 years ago 3
The fourth dimension is NOT time. Time is, if anything, the negative first dimension, since all dimensions above it are spacial. (The zero dimension being a single point.)
shadow3235 3 years ago
4d games existed since the first tomb raider every game we call 3d is really 4d the fourth dimension is time
apocalypse61 3 years ago
I think 4D is too abstract to be applied into gaming...

Chantimothy
This game has you play as a three dimensional entity moving through 3D planes via the fourth dimension so you never see 4 dimensional projections but rather a "slice" of them in a 3D plane, so it's quite clear when playing.
hmmm...Am three months late...oh well

WTF is this!?!?!??!!??!?
sonyfan007 3 years ago
and where`s the new dimension???it`s just a 3D!!!
neoqueto 3 years ago
Just as a hologram is limited to projecting a 3-D image using a 2-D method, 4-D visuals are limited to being projected in a 3-D program.

NO BECAUSE 4D IS TIME. jeez. You cannot see time.
graymic 3 years ago
no noob time its just spee over distance
franceschini123 3 years ago 2
Ahemmm. noob alert here people.
Time is a dimension yes
It is often refered to as the fourth dimension yes
However in this context, what is meant is the fourth spacial dimension, of which we have no true comprehension. this is because we're not in it.
ilostmypie 3 years ago 2
then you would realise its not possible to even have a 4d game. stfu
graymic 3 years ago
just played it.... wow its neat game, but no 4d.... and can never be.
elfgod 3 years ago
how can you see the for dimension if you cant see it. As far as i know you can't. You can only see the projected 4th dimension into out own as a distorted 3d object. Not 4d. yes you can simulated 4d, but it can't be 4d to us cause we can only see 3d, we can think 4d but not see it... if that makes sence. I might be wrong.
elfgod 3 years ago
But you can't see in true 3D either. All you can see is 3D projected onto a screen as a distorted 2D object. (Not including stereograms, etc.)

ASalazarMX 3 years ago
On first look this look like an ordinary 3d shooter.. having enemies that pop in and out of space doesn't make it a 4d game. Having the ability to walk across the 4th dimension doesn't help either. But it's a start. Are you still working on it though?
tesseroid 4 years ago
looks like 3D to me...well actually it looks like 2D. What is looks like is 2D giving off an illusion of being 3D. No where near 4D.
lionzard4 4 years ago
Remember, just because we can't see the 4th dimension, doesn't mean we can't imagine it.
TimeIsFree 4 years ago 3
don't exist any 4th dimension
Lightholyelf 4 years ago
there are many theories about the 4th dimension. some say it is time. some theories state that there couls be four spatial dimensions. and this game is as close to 4d as you can come in a shooter. you dont actually see the fourth dimension. things just dissapear and reapear as you look away and towards them on the w axis.
tehcrowley 4 years ago
I plan on making a version of the first US Sega Saturn commercial to advertise this game. "4D games. So impressive they'll make your brains burn out."
RABBIDGamfan 4 years ago
4th Dimension is time, this is just 3D, although a weird kind of 3D
coolitorrico 4 years ago
Note, fourth SPATIAL dimension. Time is not a spatial dimension.
LokiClock 4 years ago 3
name the other three SPATIAL dimensions then..
coolitorrico 4 years ago
Linespace, Planespace, and Realspace, 1D, 2D, and 3D, or, in axes, Y, X, and Z.
LokiClock 4 years ago 3
I agree, and the fourth?
I just started reading something on 4th Spatial dimensions, seems very interesting.. thougn it's just a theory and is widely discussed wikipedia_org_wiki_4th_dimension
coolitorrico 4 years ago
Tetraspace, 4D, and, as an axis, W. I have sound enough reasoning to personally hold the belief that true interdimensional contact isn't permanently possibly for a number of reasons, but mathematically, it can be simulated. I'd recommend reading tetraspace. alkaline. org

Where can we get it? Looks like one badass game.

The Mushware website. Just google "Mushware" and you'll find it.
