Its so hard to choose between cases in this price range, there are plenty of actual cases but few of this quality, im stuck between the CM HAF 922, NZXT Phantom and this.
@HitchHikersBlues Yeah he made a mistake. It was pretty easy. everything is easy to setup. The airflow is amazing in this case the side panel fan adds a lot of additional airflow to the case. The only problem is the dust as I mentioned. Overall this case is amazing and you are not going to be disappointed. The quality of its color is high too. Although I have to mention that the mesh area on the side and on top of the case are a little to flexible so don't put to much pressure on these areas.
@HitchHikersBlues Got mine yesterday. There are only 2 minor problems with this case. The top mesh has a filter which does not make sense since it is for outtake although I removed it and it wasn't that easy :( the other problem is the intake fan on the side panel. It does not have any filter as he mentions in the video. So Dust can get in easily. I have to admit that Corsair made a bit of awkward decisions on filtering the intake and outtake fans. Beside these 2 minor issues this case rocks.
@peymanstd I see. Maybe the the top dust filter is there to stop dust falling down into the case? Let say you wanted to have the top fans as intake fans, and have the large side fan as an outtake fan? that could work!
But yes, i see what ya mean. Why would would there be a large intake fan without a dust filter, strange. Fans without dust filters today is totally unacceptable.
@HitchHikersBlues 99.9% of top fans on different cases design to outtake air simply because heat goes up and the hottest part of the case is its top half so it is a good idea to mount fans on top of case. This way more heat goes out of case. if you mount intake fan on top the case its not as effective and will conflict with hot air circulation in the case. Corsair even kept in mind that many people are going for H100 so that makes it outtake more likely ;)
This case is amazing, lots of headroom for cable management, airflow is great as u get 2 front/1 back/1 huge from the side and with an H100 another 2 (which fits perfectly from the top). In addition i also like the tool free HDD bay storage.
Your youtube reviews and website are excellent. I decided to buy the Corsair 500R because of this review. I am just starting to build my first pc and will definitely continue to look at your videos and website for info.
Great review, thank you. I don't see how to use this case in positive pressure mode. With that big 200mm side fan being used to exhaust, can you pump in enough air to keep the case PP? Anyone?
@VarashTRA Thanks for the reply. The problem I have is that the side fan has no filter screen in front. If I mount a Corsair H80 liquid cooler, than it seems I have to draw air in from the back and exhaust to the top, but where does that leave me in terms of the side fan? Oh well, I'll get it figured out.
This case is great. I'll be getting the 400R though since it's cheaper. Not so big of a difference between those two. The 400R doesn't have a removable hdd cage but can house all gpus too including the 6990 if you don't mount a fan on the hdd cage.
Great video mate! I've been searching for for a great case for my new build, Will the case be ok for the new 2011 socket mobo's im thinking of waiting for the new Ivybridge processers to be released! Keep up the great work :)

@peymanstd At 5:05 he says it's an outtake fan, an exhaust. I've read that it's an intake fan?
So how is set up out of the box?

@peymanstd Yeah heat usually like's to rise lol.
So what are those filters on the top for?
They made a bit of balls of the filters? none on the side :(
I think when mine arrives...I'm gonna have to change that side fan to an outtake fan!

Ok, I've just ordered one from Komplett.
Should get it in a few days : )

It sounded like you said the side fan on this was set for exhaust, I thought it was set for intake from the factory. Is that not right?

@Appalling68 you'd want the side, front and bottom fans as intakes, and the rear and top fans as exhaust.

@Appalling68 You can mount the h80 on the top (I think) and/or the back exhaust fan.
OR you can improvise a dust filter with aftermarket mesh or womens tights.
