Every jazz musician copied others to learn the genre and later develop their expression. Wes was copying Charlie Christian note for note.Same for blues etc.
The real goal in a transcription in my oppinion is not to just learn a handfull of new licks, but to learn to play a song with the feel of another player, you swung just as hard. I saw that you sent a different guy your transcription.
Supermaques@gmail.com is my email, but if it's a hastle, no worries.
Great job and great playing. Many years ago I transcribed Pats 1st chorus on Blue Bossa when I was on the road playing in a Top 40 Band. I know the time it takes. WTG

i respect that this guy can transcribe but im just confused as to what the point is of watching someone play other peoples solos. no offense. just wondering.
Hello alldaytoobin. I can only speak for myself, but i do the youtube thing merely to set goals for myself and to see different perspectives. To work on and progress in the art that i love.
dude, you play other peoples prespectives to get more perspectives on the same things. Scientists take other peoples theories and make progress. Can't musicians do the same?
true, i just dont see the point in watching it. i dont want to offend Dave, cause i really respect what he does and id like to hear him improvise. look, people put everything on youtube and i get that. this is more like classical music than jazz though.
@alldaytoobin i think personally being a musician myself seeing someone transcribe music at this level shows true love for the instrument. plus all the geats Wes, Joe pass, Pat eveyone's stole licks off of records. then you make'em your own in a way.
@alldaytoobin Is saying "no offense" sorta like the "my bad" semi-apology that people say these days? Some of us really don't care if it's his solo or another's. This cat's a great player and perhaps... he is in the jazz school of life. No harm in playing what you love.
my motto...if you cant do it..dont say anything. if you ever tried to play martinos solos you would only have good words to say about what this guy has done! great addition to your library!! you are a fine player!
Marvelous.

@HunterMann he's obviously got a high skill level but playing jazz is very different from this. transcribing is a good way to learn.
