  • God I love the texture on that one chord - it sounds like it wobbles.

  • Rob Schneider dee dump-da diddly dump-tee tump!

  • i had no idea he was a genuis

  • best friend smartypants.

  • Pythagoras said.....

"The introduction of a new unnerving/unharmonic scale, would endanger the future of all human developement, if it became widely spread and used"

Perhaps you found the key to control and enslave mankind. lol

    j/k

  • that is truly awesome.

  • I'm so confused, I don't know anything he's saying

  • I like how people who themselves haven't made any music half as good as a musician think they're qualified to critique that musician. Please, show us all your top selling album that you created, and all of that talent you have, champ.

  • no such thing as a major fourth

  • @lessavyfav712712 He wasn't critiquing, he was explaining a pattern naturally found in none-Pythagorean harmony ratios and using it as an analogy.

  • You're so silly.

  • you're really making a strong point by throwing baseless accusations and opinions around.

Fill me in, show me exactly how he has the intellect of a 6 year old. I'm really curious to find out.

  • They must be unfamiliar with Robert Schneider or the Genius that is (was) Elephant 6

  • I dont think hes claiming to have developed "The" Non-Pythagorean scale. Rather, hes claiming that his scale is simply Non-Pythagorean. Hes just showing that there are chord variations outside of the norm when it comes to song writing. Its a simple educational video.

The guy, as a musician, is really amazing. Not only has he proven that these ideas are usefull hes proven them to actually sound GOOD. "Electronic Music for Musicians" is his latest album, and its one of my favorites.

  • Mr. Watermark0n, the claim you've made is that alterations to an instrument are unwelcome, while alternate tunings are among the only ways of defining versatility a musician has left. As for the scales use, Robert himself has said that it's limited. His mind when, (making this scale) was more mathematical than musical, and this was his intention. By the by, NEVER claim superiority to another, we all think we are great, but shut the hell up.

  • Pretty sure Jesus said it first.

    Matthew 7:7

"Leonid Kayumov, seek and you shall find :D"

  • pure genius.

  • Leonid Kayumov, seek and you shall find :D

  • This is so tight.

  • The Pythagorean scale and the 12 tone equal temperament scale are 2 different things.

  • Finally we are free from the tyranny that is Pythagoras' scale. Too long has he forced his theory upon us. Up next, the ramping sine function scale.

  • We at least need to be free of the tyranny that is 12-tone equal temperament.

By the way, you all need to get yourself a copy of a book called "Genesis of a Music" by Harry Partch. He discusses just intonation, which defines intervals by simple ratios rather than irrational exponents, roots and logarithms. (Pythagorean tuning is a form of JI, but uses only the prime numbers 2 and 3.)
