Clapton copied his heroes!everyone does this when learning,u cant jus pick up a guitar and start blastin out original material,if u do then ur a freak, all the greats such as jimi all 'stole' ideas from buddy guyetc. i love them all but music is all about influences. this is why gilmour is my fav he has unique style and if he wantd to could easily play claptons stuff. this guy will form his own style but his chops are shaping up for such a young guy i only wish i had been playin since his age.

Encore! Nice, man... I know it's been said a million times but I'll still say it for the sake of moral support: Use whichever technique suits you. Some people absolutely hate picks and some just can't play without them. As long as the music and feel is there, I say let them play however they choose.

Cool. I recently started playing... only a few weeks now so I'm really at the beginner stage but I just can't keep my hands off of mine.

I heard some people say they had a lot of trouble staying motivated and that at times they had to "force" themselves to play to keep going forward but I'm not feeling any of that right now. Quite the contrary, I spend most, if not all, of my free time practicing. I suck, though... but maybe a year from now I'll read this comment and laugh. Here's to hoping.

Mark plays in THE way that works for HIM. He actually uses his fingers. *gasp*

Diehard flat pickers just can't cope. It's either use a pick or you can't play. They can't see that you're wasting 2 fingers holding it, while the other 3 digits are simply sitting on the pickguard doing nothing.

I've done both, and there are times when I LIKE a flat pick. There are also times when it's an interference, and I'll throw it down on table so I can use my fingers and get serious.
