@387spiral However, they changed the story A LOT from the real events. The movie is American, therefore they never mentioned that "Constanzo" (Santillan) was actually American and from a Cuban family. And ofcourse, the movie has a typical American ending too, nothing to do with the real events where Costanzo and his tiny cult were found in Mexico City and massacred.
This kind of shit happens everyday all over the world...not just in Mexico. I have a hard time watching this movie not just cause of the gore but of the reality of it. This isn't fake at all and that's what makes this movie so horrifying and the gore I simply cannot stomach.
@TreyParkersBitch you know what dude this shit does happen but i wanna see how much this hollywood crappy flick actually based on true events, i too cannot stomach the gore, im 1 month short of 18 and when i was younger i could watch horror films epeciallly gorey ones i would laugh but when i watched this film i stoped around 15 mins! i dno maybe ive turned into a scardy cat something has drastially changed

I haven't watched this all yet, but wiki says it is "loosely based" on the events. Based on the story of Mark Kilroy, a University of Texas student. Our UT professor told us the story to scare us away from Mexico during spring break. Pretty terrifying actually. Just look up Mark Kilroy, or the Matamoros Murders.
@FerrariSorry Violence happens everywhere, not just mexico. Sacrifices related to religion are very rare in Mexico, and more common in places like Cuba, Puerto Rico and even the USA. The movie is based in an isolated incident happened in 1989, in which the leader of the cult was born in Miami from a Cuban family (so, as you can see, is not really a Mexican thing and happened a long time ago) Only 20 victims, nothing in comparison to what massmurderers do in a single day in other countries
when they said "your bullets cant hurt us" he should have shoot him at once. i'd do it, then if he is indeed impervious, i'll say "just testing". then im screwed. xD
mexico is not like that, i was living there for 5 years and i liked it. it´s just you should not go to freak places, but their culture, museums, and people are great. i hope you can go with i guide, there is not danger ;)
@GreenCheese500 come on! ...usa have the ku klux klan or ku ku klan ..whatever....)) this movie doesnt mean that we are lining like that..and im from the border part of mexico.of course that we got "dangerous zones" so dont go to those parts and everything will be just fine.p.s i worked in that movie, :D i was 16 years old..all the american actor are more friendly that the mexicans..at least for me.
@mrbadkid3 ...well, the bald dude said his "Papa" needed it for his "Nganga"... Actually, I was too scared to look up the english word for "Nganga"....as much as I love other cultures, I was afraid 'Nganga' in this instance might mean 'peanut butter and jelly sandwich'.
Best Horrorfest movie fo sho. I haven't seen them all but I doubt any of them will top this one. I've seen almost all from the '07 one, but they were weak compared to this one.
