  • Great test!! I have managed to break of a blade like this, when accidentally ran it over with petrol driven lawn mover. The blade was stuck down in the lawn with out any handle. But think that's the only way to really break this blade.

  • I got 1 on Amazon uk for £7.51 free p&p. Amazing deal.

  • @MrCjfriel - they are incredible bits of kit for the money, time to pay a visit to Amazon i think

  • @maveraver - Yup great deal, got it within 2 days too. . .Green handle, they have a few sneaky surprises like that on Amazon.

  • you should try this test with a mora just to see if it does as good! and are you still going to make that sharpening video? i would like to see it but im guessing its a little late for that.

  • @13irishsailors - nope not late at all, still have it as a planned video to do, ive just been busy and not really had the time to do it, re the Mora, if someone wants to send me a Mora to test to destruction, then i will do the same series of tests on it.

  • Yeah I find that thinner knives will still slice pretty decent, even with edge damage. The thin blade doesent provide a lot of resistance for the wood to ramp up, so a little chip is only a minor obstacle for it to overcome compared to a thicker knife.

  • I was wondering how long is the tang. I couldn't quite see that in the vid when the handle came off.

  • @myactionhobbies - it's approx two inches long from the point where it enters the handle to the end

  • woo shorterned the blade...its magic :)

  • great vid..I've been trying to get one from the Bushcraft store @£10 for weeks but always out of stock...I'll definitely keep trying now though!

    regards

    Wessex Blades

  • @bassfuryvi - cheers Scott, as you heard in the video, i was impressed by the blade, well gobsmacked i think is more appropriate, good bit of kit for not a lot of money

  • @bassfuryvi my Gk has arrived!..not so much Hultafors...more like Hulkforce..an absolute brute!..you can feel the weight of the steel and by the balance the tang is massive..a test coming soon..

  • Hi,

I was wondering if you have or were planning to do a similar set of tests on the Hultafors GK model? Enjoyed the vid mate.

    Cheers,

    ~Michael

  • @miznice1 - thanks for the kind comment, I can do a similar series of tests on the GK if someone wants to send me a couple of GK's as i dont have one any longer.

  • Hi! I also have one of those which cost me about 4-5 Euros when I bought it in Norway. I like it and I knew it could take a lot, but how much in fact, well that is amazing.

    Thanks for doing this test.

    Tim

  • @steintanz - no problem Tim, the tests have not finished yet, just trying to find the time to go do some more with it, ive not touched it since we got back from making the video's

  • Damn, why didn't you show us what the tang looked like while you had it out? How far does it extend into the handle?

  • @aseglkj I think there is an X ray of 4 knives on the web..one might have been a Hultafors,,

  • Greta tests mate.

You should send these videos to Hultafors for them to watch.

You never know...they might wanna use your videos on their website.

    Rob.

  • @RDPproject - cheers Rob, thought about Hultafors seeing them but figured sending themself was a bit, how can i put it - concieted

  • love the music and u make great vids. good job!!

  • @natofyelsew - thx again

  • love the footage of you using the flint and steel in the openings.

  • @natofyelsew - thx

  • Great review and test Mark! HB not only makes excellent axes, but also quality knives!

Thanks for taking your time to do this video!

    matt

  • @SKwoodsman - thanks for the comments Matt, appreciated

  • Enjoyed watching 5 parts Mark and I have to say that I am REALLY impressed with that knife. Thanks for posting.....

  • @bushcraftbartons - Cheers Mike, that knife is amazing for sure

  • Like this a ton...and I don't feel like I've just witnessed something dirty performed by a mask wearing maniac!

    Very good stuff!

  • @IHatchetJack - thanks mate, appreciate the comment

  • I really like this type of testing. It is much more realistic. Thanks, Kep!

  • @faolbushcraft - thank Faol, yep i agree, bit more realistic than some of the tests you see on YT

  • Great video series! Very interesting. Looks like a heck of a knife for the price!

  • @sackett68 - that it is, it's an impressive tool for sure.

  • Amazing! Wonder if the Mora knives would do as good as this knife. Go Hultafors! I wonder how far the tang goes inside the handle of this knife.

  • @Reitbakk - dunno tbh, do you want to send me a Mora to test in the exact same manner - lol.

The tang goes quite a way into the handle, certainly enough for most if not all of it to be within your grip when using the knife.

  • great series, glad to see real testing scenarios

  • @beast12101 - thanks mate
