I love how in New Orleans during the month of February (and sometimes part of March) a parade can spontaneuosly erupt on your street at 8am in the morning. I also love the Jesus at 7:15 of this vid. HAPPY MARDI GRAS EVERYBODY!
I liked the Marching Clubs. The first one was the Lyons Carnival Club and the second was the Corner Club. Too bad you guys didn't see the Jefferson City Buzzards.
poodleperson25 new Orleans has become famous for it...its a big deal b/c there is no other possible Mardi Gras experience like that of being in New orleans the atnosphere and culture are amazing...im biased b/c im a native of New Orleans but just ask anyone whose been to an N.O mardi gras and then went to one elsewhere and see what they say...Let the good times roll
hey cap'n! good Photography! you managed to captured a bit of th essence. best time of the year in S.louisiana or ANYWHERE! We love everybody- come learn how to party.
You're too lucky, nolegal. I love it in Louisiana, especially New Orleans. My entire family's from there, so we go to visit family in Morgan City every few years, but this past Mardi Gras was my first. I had a blast. I can't wait to go again next year. Watching this makes me miss it so much. =/
I'm really glad to see that they still have "flamers" in the parades. Few things are quite as gratifying as throwing loose change at torch wielding-vagrant's and having them thank you for it.
those drunken luchadores was one of my favorite sights from mardi gras. they went all out with the costumes. they just set up a little square, roped it off and had an actual tournament with quite a few other teams. funny shit!
If your thinking of going to the next Mardi Gras in New Orleans?

geez, New Orleans isn't even the home of Mardi Gras, but eveybody makes "New Orleans" such a big deal!
poodleperson25 4 years ago
It might not be the birthplace of it, but no other place in the world does it like New Orleans does. Which would definitely make it a big deal.

I only went back to New Orleans once since Katrina, but I not for Mardi Gras. v.v
After watching that, I miss it even more. v.v
All they have out here in MO is their cheesy knock off, Su Lard, or whatever. ;.;
Spent my entire life in southern LA, and I kind of want to go back.
