WHATS THE DIFF BETWEEN THE K 1600 GTL AND GT

@ridingary actually nothing but the dimensions. The GTL is a bit longer and the seat height is lower and of course some extras for the GT are basics in GTL like the central locks, hi-fi system etc.

Just test road the1600 it fells like a very nimble goldwing with great brakes did not like the clutch to slow the electronic throttle

Very very fast way to fast for the clutch loved it please fix it so I can trade in my 07

yup...if i had the money i'd hv one like a shot too - every bike is different and worth trying....the only set back for me is the weight - being a woman of 50 at 47kg, it might be too heavy .....

i'm now riding a yamaha fjr1300 - suits me fine thus far

If I had the money I would have one like a shot.

Bike magazines are saying it is better than a Goldwing, it is the ultimate tourer which raises the bar.

No disrespect to a GPZ900 but this bike is in a different league.

I own a 1990 Kawasaki GTR1000 which I love, but it is no comparison to this.

As for HD well as they say, 95% of them are still on the road....the other 5% made it home.

So let me get this straight. You can either buy a 20K BMW that is state of the art and is actually worth the money you spend or you can buy something like a HD that using 30 year old technology and is worth less than half the money you will throw at it. You must be a HD owner.

You forgot all the bikes who are inbetween! I own a "86 Gpz 900r and it worth every cent. Do you really believe that todays bikes can last this long? BMW"s are good bikes but very overrated. You liked the sound of it? Try listen to a CBX 1050 or a z1300 Kawasaki!! Even a gold wing 1800 sounds better.

@espvintage I have owned a 86 Kawasaki 900 Ninja before. Although a good bike, after having a 03 BMW 1150RT, there is no comparison. The BMW is a much better bike.

@viggoM35 No not at all. You got me wrong. Your bike is using a kind of servo assistens with electric motors. If they fail the bike has almost no brakes. Thats the reason why I dont like them.

@espvintage Yes, they would not work sufficiently if the engine wasn't running first. But if the engine wasn't running before, then why would you need the brakes to stop? Kind of like a car. Did you ever try to drop when the engine stalled and you had no power assist? Very rare. But a small car weights 5x my RT. I've rolled it down my driveway using no power and it stopped fine. Sport riders prefer the non integrated brakes for twisties n track. But if an SUV cuts you off unexpected on the hwy?

@espvintage BMW ABS brakes do not fail if the ABS system fails. You only lose the ABS. The brakes still work and a caution light flashes on the dash.

@mnbme this is correct but not on your bike. if the servo assistence has a problem than you have almost no brakes. try it downhill with the ignition switch of and get the feel of it. This ABS system has been changed on later models because of the difficaulty of maintenance and and this "feature". sorry for my bad english

@espvintage Your information is incorrect and you don't even know what I ride. Both my beemers have ABS (1997 K1100LT and 2009 F800GS) and both work fine in the event of an ABS failure.

Wat een pracht motor. Ziet er indrukwekkend uit. De andere merken hebben alweer het nakijken. Gaat zeker de opvolgen van mijn sinds 1998 gebouwde K 1200 LT worden waarvan ik twee types met ongelooflijk veel plezier heb gereden de laatste 10 jaar. Gelukkig is deze een stuk lichter dan de 1200 zodat ik tot mijn tachtigste BMW trouw kan blijven. Lijkt mij ook een stuk sportiever. Praktische oplossing voor de GPS. Bravo BMW.
