I know that the movie itself is a horror film about the tragic life of a teenage girl and the pigs blood was iconic and necessary for the tragic story it was suppose to be.
However it would be nice to see the happy alternative ending we would of all wished for Carrie White and newrosesophie was determined to make this video and put it up on Youtube for us.
When I first saw this film I thought it was going to end when she went home had a bath and then she was talking to her mum and I thought it was going to e a happy ending then but no a knife in the back I keep having nightmares about the mum walking downstairs with the knife

It's only because the movie ended badly that we all wish for a happier ending. If it had ended this happily and eventlessly we'd just be saying it sucks ass!
The bad endings always get you more emotional and appreciative of good in the world than the happy endings ever would. Classic lesson in life.
A great happy ending would be Carrie and her half sister Rachel meeting each other and hired by the CIA because of their abilities. Taken away from their psychotic mothers, paid fierce salaries, great new homes and living happily ever after! That would be awesome!!!
Oh, I do like Carrie though, she should have taken her revenge towards her physco mother first, than attack the students, only becouse this is a HORROR movie. If this was a drama, I would have liked this ending.
I'm sorry, but when John Travolta's (I forget his character's name) car crashed, I loled big time. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of Carrie getting revenge on everyone, especaily what those other girls in the locker room did to her, but the idea of some random car accident stopping the prank would have been just a little funny. Also, I'm sure the other people involved with the prank, the others we didn't see, would have finished the prank anyway, resulting in the same ending, if kinda funny

Their friends only knew something but were not envolved in making anything in a practical way.
I always wished Carrie wouldn't have killed the high school parasites: she should have gone home and made plans to make their lives hell. Real torture is revenge, not killing, that's too easy!

@screamfanforever13 I know, but the "remake" was actually a pilot for a series that never materialized. Carrie 2002 is the only thing that the creators actually taped and stuff, so sadly.....no more Carrie. (For now that is.)
If the movie had ended like this I agree that it wouldn't be the same. From the prom on is where it really gets freaky and dramatic. But I will say that it would have been sweet for Carrie to get a happy ending. You really feel for the girl and wish she could have had that one moment where she felt special without it being ruined. But as already said life isn't always about the happy endings. Bad things happen daily but that doesn't mean you can't wish things were different for Carrie or anyone.

Life isn't all about happy endings. Innocent people suffer every single day, and you'd be naive to deny that. Family's are burned to death, children are bred to kill, young women are abducted, raped, and murdered, and the list goes on. Life is hell and Carrie White is just the allegory of that fact.
Well, I know that the bloody scene at the ballroom party is a real De Palma's masterpiece with the camera. I know as well that's a tragical story that has to end in a tragical way.
But I really love that character Carrie White, and I always suffer in the last scenes of the movie! so for once I tried to give her a deserved happy ending ! I tried to save Carrie White.

its a horror because of all the physiological pain that her mother put her through. it was a horror all the way through. its more powerful as a horror, thats all we had back in the day, happy endings, that would be such a boring film. Good for the character but a snoozefest.

well, if it did ended this way, it will be as if Carrie White didn't really have the powers, which is Stephen King's main point of his novel.
Still, if the car crashed and tipped due to her happy thoughts triggering her power, then I guess it will be a comic relief for the film.
