  • wow keaton doesn't even look like bruce wayne.

  • @Kilox1000 and you don't look like a human being.

  • @Mercenary78 well that made 0 fucking sense. I'm guessing your a keaton fanboy.

    get over it

    -his movie was a joker

-he's to skinny and short to play batman

    -he kills people

    not a good batman.

  • @Kilox1000

    - you are the joke

    - bale is also skinny

    - batman killed in the early comics

you don't know anything about batman, and trying to convince me you do.

  • @Mercenary78 batman isn't supposed to kill. I don't give a shit what he did 100 years ago. Since the decree in 1942 batman could never kill or use a gun. and if you think bale is skinny your fucking on shrooms. he was asked to SLIM DOWN for the role because of his bulk. bale weighs like what? 210 pounds? and he was atleast 6 ft tall. keaton was like 5'9 170 LOL

  • @Kilox1000 you are full of shit and you know it,

  • @Mercenary78 is this what you say when you can't refute any points? uhh yeah? well YOUR FULL OF SHIT!

  • @Kilox1000 1.Bob Kane is the creator of batman, he also worked on barman89 and he made batman also a killer.

2.Bale is as skinny as Keaton only Keaton is shorter 170m and bale is 182. I could even kick Bale's ass.

3.Keaton doesn't talk with a dick in his throat, and Bale has got a retarded head.

4.Bale could defeat Ras-Al-Gul but got his ass beaten by Ledger with a crowbar.

I know batman before you were born and you don't know shit about batman because you are just a kid.

  • @Mercenary78 LOL keaton is skinny dude...did you fucking see him? his body was average at best. batman is supposed to be jacked...like 200 pounds jacked. It doesn't matter what the creator did, if you want to have an oldies batman you can go watch adam west. he hasn't killed people since 1942, it was changed by Whitney Elsworth. it doesn't matter if he beats "beat by ledger" because its a movie you fucktard, he can't change the plot. your acting like hes actually batman.

  • @Mercenary78 and he put joker in jail anyway you couldn't kick anyones ass your probably some short nerd with glasses in his moms basement. if you think a 5'9 170 pound guy is tougher than someone who is 6'2 230 then your a fucking retard. and what does "bale has a retarded head" even fucking mean? what DON'T you complain about?

  • Comment removed

  • @Mercenary78 yeah well... ledger just couldn't quit the crowbar after all these years. He got really good with it.

  • @kingofnee i think Heath Ledger really enjoyed that moment with the crowbar haha

  • Comment removed

  • @Kilox1000 Michael Keaton doesn't have muscles? look at this video:" MIchael Keaton: Bad Ass" watch at 0:08. he is more badass compared to Bale with his dumb voice now that is a joke.

  • that's what nolan movies lack... epicness, magic. I enjoyed his take but I hope they will get a little less religious about realism now and little more mystic : he's the goddamn batman not some stiffen and boring cancer reject... I want a batman who fights freeze, darkseid, killer croc. who has kryptonite, lasers in his utility belt , a mother box, green lantern ring in his batcave....

  • @georgetapadbol wait for the reboot quit complaining i like the nolan series and i like burton's as well they are both good in their own way

  • I've always liked this scene. Bruce sitting alone in the dark, seeing the signal..I know that shot is taken right from one of the old comics. But it also really catches him in character..alone, waiting for the call is all Bruce Wayne's life really is.

  • michael keaton could kick bale's ass in real life

  • Such an awesome scene! I don't care how good the Nolan films are, credit where credits due, but Michael Keaton was one hell of a batman. Have your realistic batman, I liked this one just fine....until...you know....batman and robin happened...

  • Though he's not the actor you'd expect to be a superhero, Michael Keaton proved to be the best of the Batmen. He had so much personality as Bruce, you definitely felt him as a guy uncomfortable in his own skin, more comfortable jumping rooftops than hanging w/ rich elite. And his actual Batman was great, you could understand what he said. Burton's Batman was the perfect balance between fantasy & reality. It stays true to its source material (mostly) while still managing to be a terrific film.

  • Now that, my friends, is a good Batman.

  • Comment removed

  • This was the best batman in the films and in the tv series the best was adam west

  • christian bale's batman is the first batman that made me laugh.

  • The 2 dislikes are Nolan and Bale.

  • Keaton is the man or Batman!

  • Keaton was a bad ass Batman.

  • Best batman scene ever ... Yup its just that epic!

  • @johnnytube87 yep!

  • Same thing happens to me when I hear panties hit the floor...

  • They should make a live action Batman Beyond with Michael Keaton as old Bruce Wayne

  • @Crimson28 they were thinking of doing that but it didnt get made

  • @Crimson28 And please i hope they don't use Christian Bale as Terry McGinnis (Future Batman)

  • Micheal Keaton is the only Batman just like Keaton is the only Beetlejuice.. Fantastic actor.

  • @XxComablackxX1937 absolutely!

  • I feel like this is the definitive image of Bruce Wayne. What a perfect scene.

  • this bruce is a loner

  • what if Bruce Wayne Had guests over when the lights went on?

  • Keaton's brooding Bruce Wayne is fantastic.

  • Comment removed

  • I love how he's just sitting in the dark, fuckin' awesome!

  • Micheal keaton is and will always be the best batman. if yall notice this the only batman movie to where batman actually killed, other then the joker

  • This scene really captures what it means to be Bruce Wayne. He's swallowed up by his own huge, gothic house, the cold wind howling outside. Sitting all alone in the darkness of an oversized room, pining away for parents who are nothing but dust in their coffins. Then the bat signal blasts through the gaping ship portal of a window and snaps him out of it; his true self has work to do, and the paper thin alter ego looks sad to go. The way he takes a step or two towards the light is haunting.

  • @chainbluelightning1 or he was reading the newspaper...

  • @chainbluelightning1

    Insanely well said.

    *clap clap clap*

  • @chainbluelightning1 you forgot the part when he gets a boner

  • @chainbluelightning1 thats deep lol

  • Comment removed

  • I'd say keaton then Bale then Kilmer then Adam West. Clooney doesn't even register.

  • @chrisdaco22

don't forget Kevin Conroy from the animated show

  • @Johnlindsey289 Oh yeah, sorry, I was just hitting the live action versions.

  • 0:15 - like a boss

  • Conroy > Keaton

    sorry michael :\

  • @MrHEC381991 He's a voice actor you Conroy butt bandit. It's hilarious how these Bale nuthuggers bring Conroy into it because they don't wanna admit Keaton wipes his ass with Bale's Batman.

  • @BigBoss7777777 chilllll dude! what gave you THAT impression? O_O

  • The eyebrow raise makes this scene ten times better

  • The scene alone makes up for the rest of the film

  • This part always gives me chills. Batman Returns may not have been the best Batman film as a whole but its filled with some of the best moments in the entire franchise. The opening 20 minutes is just awesome.

  • Hail to the King of Batmans!!

  • @Aldiggy2000

    What about Kevin Conroy?

  • @Johnlindsey289 hands down best Batman animated series voice. Same with Mark Hamil's joker. I can't see Michael Keaton as voice for animated batman lol

  • @Aldiggy2000 And I can't imagine Conroy as a live action Batman.

  • 0:19 Bale will never be like this, never!

  • 0:15 - 0:23 That's some damn good acting <3

  • this always makes me laugh.he must be bored all day until the signal comes on.sitting in the dark on his own haha

  • Keaton is the best Batman because he doesn't need some raspy voice to "try" and intimidate his foes; his presence and silence alone is what makes him nightmarish and a total horror to his foes. Bale was a good Bruce Wayne, but Batman, nah...not so much.

  • @TheInstantClassic1

What about Kevin Conroy on the animated Batman show?

  • @Johnlindsey289 Conroy is a stupid comparison, he's a voice actor, it's not even in the same category. Also people seem to forget that Keaton influenced Conroy's interpretation. The animated series started two years after Keaton's Batman.

  • The keaton eyebrow raise!

  • this scene is so epic this is batman to me all Bruce is doing is waiting in his mansion because he has no other purpose in life then to fight crime so he waits then as soon as the signal appears before him he rises up and inflicts vengeance upon the criminals of Gotham city

  • Keaton kicks bales ass because i can actually understand him

  • The raw definition of "Overdramatic."

  • Bale is a funny batman with a voice, only kids can take seriously.

  • awesome, but wouldnt bat logos pointing towards and in his house make it kind of obvious hes batman? WHAT WILL THE NEIGHBORS THINK!?

  • @MrBurgundy76

    He had no neighbors.

He lived alone on an abandoned island.

Even if someone saw the logo, he did not dared to say anything about it,

cause he knew that Batman is going to catch him crush his skull

and molest his dead body. And after that he would go after his family.

  • @plisskennn There's something seriously wrong with you. You need to check in at Arkham mate.

  • @plisskennn what if a villian saw the logo?

  • @ssssssssssssssssss50

The villain would not dared to say anything about it,

cause he knew that Batman is going to catch him crush his skull

and molest his dead body. And after that he would go after his family.

  • @plisskennn lol cant think of any batman villain to have a family or to be afraid to take on batman

  • @plisskennn what if chuck norris saw his Logo?

  • @neilsoulstice what if Justin Bieber saw that logo?, think about that.

  • @plisskennn No man Only Chuck Norris can do that.

  • @plisskennn Its not on an island. Lol Where did you come up with that?

  • @MrBurgundy76 Yeah, dude, his pad is in the middle of nowhere. He had a fucking rocket built in his batmobile just to book it out of there alot faster. In reality, a billionaire would have his own helipad and he would tell his pilot to take him to work, the same way a wannabe rich asshole would do if he had a lemo driver

  • @MrBurgundy76 LOL does it look like he lives on a city block?

  • @burtonrules123 hey mate, go to our new video and leave your comments there. thanks

  • @MrBurgundy76 Maybe if he had neighbors, they would think he was just a rich Fan Boy...lol

  • bale sucks youtube.com/watch?v=z01GoxZuyCY

  • Someday someone is going to design. A bulletproof suit, and go out to clean up the city streets.

  • What a great intro to Batman/Bruce Wayne.

  • Haunted music revealing a haunted mansion in a haunted city. A serious/bored rich guy in the dark raises as he sees a bat signal in the clouds...

I totally love that scene, and Keaton raise up like saying "time to kick arse", the best Batman actor on the best Batman movie.

  • Guess I'm the only one who chuckles at the eyebrow raise. I like these films best, but this scene makes me laugh.

  • @brodimaggio Chuck Liddell was also chuckling at the eyebrow raise.

  • @brodimaggio I think this what burton wanted as most of his movies a marriage between grotesque, ridiculous and fascination.

  • ah, the one thing about him that is the most creepy: BROODING :D

  • Comment removed

  • This was so awesome as a kid, I still get the chills when I see this video. Plus the music is amazing with it.

Here's a question: has he been waiting for the call ever since the battle with The Joker. I'm guessing by his reaction that no huge crime as been done that needed Batman since he gave the city the Bat Signal. Just look at the reaction. The man could have been waiting in that chair every night til he was needed.

  • @funk556

That's a very interesting observation. I just figured he fell asleep in the chair and the Bat Signal just happened to shine in on his room. In hindsight, that seems unlikely...the Bat Signal shined right into his path, suggesting that he purposefully sat where he did so that he'd be able to see the Bat Signal the second it went on.

  • @funk556 nah, that was probably just "one of those times... again" :D

  • no matter what, michael keaton is always the best batman, same with his car,

  • i loved this scene, but even back then I always wondered: "what if someone is walking or driving by while thats shinning through his window? lolol I still wouldnt change the scene though (epic!!!)

  • @BilliePanic something i noticed, is that they were like really dark spotlights (or basically, another way to put it, "spotlights that are literally off and don't have anything on them. and you don't see any pattern or 'bat'-shaped pattern on them"). but when you turn them on, that's when the "bat-spotlight" comes on those searchlights :-P

so, they're still hidden from view [unless you actually LOOK for them] when seeing the mansion as you walk up to it from the hillside

  • Damn this scene is so epic! A lonely, tortured soul billionaire sitting in his large, large den as if he has no purpose in life sitting patiently in the dark waiting for the call. I just love how he rises to the signal as if it delivers life to Bruce Wayne.

Rather than making a reboot (recently reported) after TDK Rises they should make a live action The Dark Knight Returns starring Michael Keaton as the old Bruce Wayne. The comics inspired the first Burton film & why not give it a sendoff?

  • Batman is getting a reboot, so after the Dork Knight Rises. its over for Bale finally

  • <- Chivers down my spine

  • epic batman scene no better way to start a movie but i wish they put keaton in more movies and gt rid of bale

  • THE BATMAN!=Michael Keaton

My only complaint is that he did not do all the first 4 movies.

  • Wow, I read a lot of comments here, and it's nice to see that other people love this scene and interpret it the same way I do. Bruce is a brooding man who has nothing to do in his life and the only time he feels alive is when he goes out at night as Batman.

  • I love how this scene suggests Bruce Wayne is in a permanent state of seriousness and spends his free time just brooding intensely about what a shitty fucked up world it is!

  • he played batman amazingly and tim burton did a great job way better then the new batman movies

  • love how Bruce Wayne is just sitting there, waiting for Bat signal

  • glad to see so many people love this scene, just uploaded this clip, but didnt think so many people had already uploaded it lol

  • Awesome!

  • I wish people who prefer Michael Keaton as Batman wouldn't say that Christian Bale sucks. Though I myself consider Michael to be the best Batman actor as well, I still think Christian does a great job too. Is his Batman voice really THAT terrible? I've never had a problem with it. Is there anything else about his performance that people hate. Oh, well I for one think both guys are great Batman actors.

  • @darthgoku135

Id go to say that for the most part Bale does a good job, however he isn't given enough if any intense moments and that voice is a minus on his score.

My favorite is Keaton, im just kinda nostalgic that way.. but the dark knight Joker was the best.

  • @darthgoku135 Bale's voice is fine in Batman Begins, but it really does sound unbearable in TDK! I don't know what they were thinking.

  • @drlee2 lol yeah he reminded of scooby doo whenever he talked in tdk

whys he growl like that it's not dog man!

  • @drlee2 i read that they were thinking (the crew or Warner Brothers and/or someone else involved with the movie, i don't remember who) thought that making the voice "raspier" and/or "rougher" would make it, and/or make it sound, "more 'threatening' ". they couldn't be more wrong though..

it sounded like Bale SERIOUSLY needed some cough-drops! O_O

  • @darthgoku135 bale doesn't suck, he just sucks as batman. the awful costume and cowl design doesnt help. besides he kinda gets pushed aside. in begins, liam, lucius, alfred, scarecrow, even katie holmes cheapened bale's character. in tdk, joker stole the film no question about it

however he does make a great patrick bateman

as for his batman voice, basically it sucks because keaton's is way better. keaton's batman voice is dark and mysterious. bale's is just stupid. he growls like a douchebag

  • @trollionaire i couldn't agree more.

personal comment: someone give Bale in "The Dark Knight" a cough-drop!

  • This scene is one of my favorite moments in the entire Batman series, it's just epic!!! Keaton IS Batman!!! End of story.

  • @LukeMM95 true that!

  • I have a similar setup at home.

  • 0:17 -0:20 the most epic moment in movie industry

  • fuck Bale the Dork Knight

  • I love this scene! Bruce sits alone in the dark (like a bat) as if he has no life just patiently waiting for the signal to flash, which makes him rise and come to life as if putting on the suit is his only purpose in life.

  • @MisterMeddle - thats exactly what Burton and Keaton thought Bruce would be. Nothing but a shell of a man w/o the suit.

  • Incredible.

He was just sitting there, WAITING to be called upon.

  • haha doesn't anyone else think someone would notice all of the batman reflectors on bruce's house?

  • Don't care about Keaton's age. He should have played batman today aswell. He would have made the Dark knight 100% more awsome.

  • Keaton is unmatched as Batman. Clooney, Kilmer, and Bale all pale in comparison.

  • Pretty retarded he has big Bat-signal reflectors on the roof of his house, like no one would see them.

"Hey, Bruce. What the fuck are those?"

"Umm...look at over there! *neck chop*

  • Judge however you feel about all of the movies... One fact is indisputable. Michael Keaton IS Batman

  • Sitting, brooding in the dark over the Mission his life must be dedicated to, Bruce Wayne is silently called to action by the symbol of the black Bat on white alighting the night. Next to the final scene of Batman where he stands gaurd over the city next to the first lit signal, this is the HOTTEST wordless shot in the series.

Technically, it might have been a bit of a GIVEAWAY, I mean, Wayne Manor having giant Bat symbol reflector lights on the roof, but hey...details, details...

  • 0:18 Michael Keaton just need a change in his facial expression to become Batman. 'Nuff said.

  • Bat signals at the house, good goin bruce! XD

  • its a shame that keaton didnt do more batman movies, but Im so glad that he didnt associate himself with the schumacher films

  • And whoever says Burton's Batman is not dark is either dumb or insensate.

  • Keaton was such an unconventional choice, but man, he worked it as Batman!!! Great comedian who turned out to be a genius dramatic actor.

  • this is actually my favourite part of the movie! such a sadistical feel to Bruce Wayne

  • This scene alone makes Keaton the definitive movie Batman. Bale sucks compared to him.

  • @taimur74

bale's batman makes keaton look like a highschool girl

  • @djsonicc Dark knight fanboy stick to watching bales videos.

  • @j04370859

call me what you want, i'm just stating the fact. put keaton's batman against bale's face to face who do you tihnk would win? keaton can't even fight as good...

  • This is one of the reasons why Michael Keaton is a better Batman and will always be Batman

  • michael keaton is the best

  • I just thought of this but I was wondering if he ever had a chick over how would he explain having these bat signals shining in his house while their eating or doin the humpty dumpty with each other?

  • No one can beat that eyebrow, the baby blues, and those lips. Come on. NO ONE.

  • bale is better , the keaton films are not batman movies but burton films with batman happening to be in it.

the old films lack urgency, threat, epicness, danger, not true to the comics

all the generations from here on out will look towards nolan and bale

keaton and nicholson will be overshadowed by these films, most younger people these days wouldnt bother to download the old films

and i saw the keaton films as a teenager in the theatre summer of 89

  • @npatil10 That hardly make Bale a better Batman. Personally, I find Keaton to be a MUCH better actor. He's so internalized and I can see everything through his eyes. I can't say whether people will download B89 or BReturns, but I do know there are generations, myself included, who've grown up with with the Animated Series and the Burton Batmans and LOVE THEM. I enjoy the Nolan versions to, but they may not be definitive Batman films for me.

  • @npatil10 most younger people voted for obama! what's your point?

  • @npatil10 Srsly? NOLAN films r more like ones that just happen to have Batman in them, esp. TDK! All the threats, epicness and danger come off as completely manufactured in TDK, while in the Burton films, there is a cohesive plot and story that underscores and drives the action.

  • @drlee2 -I thought the same thing! Though they're good, no doubt, they always seemed to me that you could just put some super agent spy guy in there and it wouldn't change much of the film. No 'mood' is set that makes it Batman.

  • @drlee2 -I thought the same thing! Though they're good, no doubt, they always seemed to me that you could just put some super agent spy guy in there and it wouldn't change much of the film. No 'mood' is set that makes it Batman. Whereas Burton's films, ONLY a Batman could exist in that world.

  • @TheDissident77 i freaking agree with you

  • Keaton is the best Batman ever!!!

  • 0:20 most epic michael keaton batman picture ever.

  • This is one of the reasons why Keaton is the best batman.

  • @j04370859 they used that picture for the game Batman Returns on the SNES
