will getting a malossi variator increase the acceleration on my moped? ive got an aerox 50 bored out to a 70 but its really slow up to about 10mph then it flies. ive put a malossi clutch on it and it is slightly better also put in lighter rollers, was thinking of getting some harder clutch springs and a new variator? any advice please
Hey, my 50cc atv have a variator, but the top speed is limited to 45 km/h or cirka 30 mp/h. So where is this limiter? I know some people have removed it, but I can't find any pictures or vidoes of it.
I have a Sym Jet euro x 50 and I just took the variator apart and remove the Nylon bearing which restricts the belt. End result: slight increase in speed and acceleration
@dolssen With centrifical forces. There are variator rollers, weights, in the variator, and when they are spinning (engine running, acceelrating etc.) the forces pull them to the outside, forcing the variator to open. And when the variator opens, it forces the CVT Belt up on the variator end, and obviously down on the other and. And vice versa while descelerating.
CAN ANYONE TELL PLEASE IF A SCOOTER GOES UP TO 20MPH AND THEN VIBRATES ALOT ITS LIKE IT WANTS TO CHANGE GEAR .IF SOME ONE KNOWS WHAT IS THE PROBLEM PLEASE TELL ME THANK YOU
Do u no what could be wrong with my speedfight? It starts up fine, however when i rev it up it goes about 10mph (if that) its like, its got no power what so ever, also there is shit loads of smoke coming out of exhaust. w/b :)
By changing the weight of the rollers, you can change acceleration/speed. The lighter the rollers, the more acceleration, but less speed (and vice versa).
That is a CVT (constant variable transmission) I have a zuma with a big bore kit 70cc with 17.5 mm del orto carb and auto choke and motion pro throttle cable it does 49mph but i want to get a new pipe and final drive gears
only 49 ,you can make it to at least 80 mph with bigger carb ,boost bottle, a new crank schaft(its Kurbelwelle in german i dont really know if im rigt) and some other stuff ,ore you just have to finetune the engine
CVT for car using metal belt, in fact the metal belt does not transmit torque but the transmission oil. The engine torque is transmitted from crankshaft to driving pulley to transmission oil to metal belt to transmission oil to driven pulley to driveshaft and wheel. it is just a basics, car CVT is very complex compare to scooter CVT. It has sensors, computer and other things.
steel belt is not appropriate for use in scooters. It needs friction to transmit torque from the engine to the belt then clutch then the wheel. Metal belt will create heat in contact and break down. It will not transmit engine torque to the wheel.
I think the variator change the diameter of the driving pulley which in turn change the diameter of the driven pulley. If the engine revs is high enough It will overcome the spring force of the centrifugal clutch then the clutch engages the wheel hub then drive the wheel. The diameter of the belt is not changing, so if the diameter of the driving pulley is small then the diameter of the driven pulley is large and vice verse. So you need both to do the job. I hope this help.
Oh:D well its just what i heard and seems to be right.. well you can do 7500 but... you will loos power . if you know whayt i mean... get a new one and you will feel different:D much = P i did jsut bought new one ... and ooh yea works great = P... can be different to scoter to scoter but mine does ^:D what kind you got?
ive got a derbi predator liquid cooled 02 but tbh i hate scooters but im starting to like them ive just fitted a new battery and speedo cable to mine it does around 50mph but im yet to get it out fully what one have you got? add me as a friend
Someone replied and said that crankshaft seal might be leaking and i might be sucking or leaking air not sure if this is the problem or not.
i already changed the fuel filter, checked the air filter, plenty of 2 stroke oil and gasoline and also put a brand new iridium plug. i am giving up hope.
first this is not a forum. I recommend you to visit some discussions on the net and ask there. Did you check oil/gasoline pipes? Next I would try to dissasemble the engine and look inside.. good luck
what do u mean by gas and oil pipes? u mean the hoses?
anyway the only way i can get the scooter to move is to start and hold the throttle all the way for the engine to rev. once it revs i can move it. the engine stays on but once it comes to stop the engine cuts off. now i cant start it at akll anymore. maybe i damaged something even more by doing that even though it was only a for a few miles. who knows.
check your spark plug, if its wet ur jetting is 2 high. but if not u might have 2 raise ur jettin. if that stil dosent work mess wiv ur idle screw. reply 2 let me no how it gose :)
i actually have been able to start better and without it cutting off the past week.
this scooter has a cheap plastic sleeve that is supposed to be the oil cap over the oil tank. it always pops off when i ride and the oil splashes out. for something so important as having the proper oil level i cant understand why they couldnt make a threaded oil cap or at least a snap on one that would ensure i wouldnt lose oil. it could be i was low on 2 stroke oil which caused this problem.
i did only have to add about half a cup to get it to the very top. there isnt any oil gauge or dipstick in the tank like an auto has so im not sure how much to put. i just top it off. what do you think? the problem also stopped after i called someone to give me a boost when my battery died after all the attempts to start it.
the starter kicked much faster and started alot quicker than it has.
do you think it was an alternator, battery or something electrical that caused it? once i added oil to the top it started better as well and hasnt been cutting off until it gets warm.
i still have the problem that it runs too rich. smells very strong so i can tell and has high idle.
i noticed another problem. one of the exhaust maniforld bolts were loose and there was this oil/grease coming out from it. not sure what that was a sign of. i made sure to tighten it right away.
i changed my spark plug a short time ago. the thread was wet with oil but it did have the golden brown color which is normal.
i fooled around with the idle and mixture screw many times. hard to really know what the proper adjustment is, since they turn many times clock and counter clockwise.
all i wud do is check all the basics. and if u still cant work anythink out just take it 2 a specialist, instead of spend money on stuff thats not the problem. did u buy the bike broken?
i did get it real cheap and the guy towed it for me so it was a great deal. no it wasnt broken. it rode it around. body was like new as well as tired and most of it. the only think i noticed when i was riding it was that the idle would get very low when it came to a stop and then when i turned the throttle it would rev very high and jump. other than that it had great pickup and speed for a 50cc. i figured it would a tune up problem like a carb adjustment and that also it was sitting for a
i cant take it to anyone. too expensive. whats funny is before i bought i thought these were easy and cheap to fix. on the contrary. in some ways it cost more than autos to fix. hard to find ppl to work on them. everyone works on cars.
if your still having trouble with your bike send a personal message and tell me everything wrong with it, your riding conditions, and if your country is high in altitude or not. Ive been working on scooters all my life
the problem i have is even worse. once i kicked the starter numerous times it still ran erratically with alot of pops, despite many carb adjustments. now i cant even start it. the only way i can get it to start and move it to hold the throttle down full and hold the brake and then start and and when idle rev it and brake or else it will shut off right away.
My scooter only runs when i start it and hold the accelerator down. when in idle it just shuts off. before this it at least ran but sputtered and popped. i had to adjust the carb to very rich in order for it to run or it cut off. i was able to take apart the carb, locate the main jet and remove
There is a final gear reduction between the rear clutch/ pulley and drive shaft for the wheel. For that, you use gear oil, which is checked by measuring how much you drain and refill at the fill cap, on the back of the transmission/ engine case.
Thank you so much. i work on mopeds all the time. all my friends dont understand how to trans work, now instead of explaining it i can just show them this. thanks man.
this depressed me as surely u could put manual gearbox on motor, but another mate said it wouldnt wrk as in high gears, too much strain on motor, I think its still poss, do u?
Once again you're right!, Um talking about people like to change gears, well thats me too!, but I had convo wiv m8 otherday, he say wen environment forces petrol engines to be banned we will all have to ride electric bikes, which will have no need for gears as a motor only needs more or less voltage to control speed AND power,
I ride an old 1000cc Bike, I was wondering if that sort of system would work on big bikes, Don't worry I wouldn't try it, but I was just thinking why no one has collered that market? I mean you get auto-transmission high power sports cars, why not Vario- Twist n Go Big Bikes, Maybe it's dangerous to have so much power going straight to the wheel if someone pins the throttle!
600cc scooters exist, no problem. But i think the problem is, that people like when they can change gears. Scooters like 50 or 125cc 4T are good for a ride in overcrowded cities, you can park practically everywhere and you can get almost wherever you want because it really is a small bike (is it a bike?:) )
It's clever how it works, I know all scooters have the enertia type clutches to give the twist n go, but do they all have the variable pulley system?, I know the Honda Zoomer/Ruckus has it, that ped rocks.
If it looked a bit more more pretty under there, it would be good to have a see thru perspex panel made up to cover it, and have all the internals painted different colours
The reason that it doesn't look pretty is because the casing has cross webbing cast into it for strength. The transmission cover also has webbing cast into it and both are held together with a lot of bolts. This is to resist torsion under suspension stress.
The engine casing articulates with the rear wheel with suspension movement and actually makes up the entire rear suspension with a single coil over shock.
If you replaced the cover with another material, it had better be strong!
