Its awesome, love in how in this series they take another breath at the end, its like magic. Also, does anyone know if Ridley Scott directed only this one or all of them?
The most profound 30 seconds of my entire TV-saturated childhood, this still sends me reeling. Epic. Chanel should re-issue this once in a while.. as-is. It is the kind of art that belongs to the world. Ridley Scott = genius ------- Thank you, up-loader. ... PS that sounds like Leonard Nimoy at the end ("'share the fantasy..") (?)
What is the guy holding in his hand? Well, if you notice at the beginning while she is laying poolside, she has TWO shoes next to her...then when the plane's shadow passes over there is only ONE shoe (she must have knocked it in the pool). The man goes in to retrieve it for her and that is what he is carrying when he gets out of the pool. When he "disappears" the shoe "reappears" next to the other one.
I suspect that the narration at the end, "Share the Fantasy. Chanel No. 5", is Leonard Nimoy. He did several ad spots in the late 70's and early 80's.
Alright. Let's try this one. Could the guy diving in, swimming, then coming out be Tim Donnelly? The reason I'm asking is, because he looked almost like this in a portion of "Parts: The Clonus Horror", which was released in the summer of 1979.
@daisy3269 The guy was probably holding his swim goggles. (I didn't ask if the man's voiceover was Leonard Nimoy.) I asked if the lady's voiceover could be that of the late Julie London, to tell you the truth.
This commercial came out in 1980. It was a pivotal point in my life. It motivated me to give more in love and warmth. My feelings as a man started to move in smooth waves.
@ahsans786 I THANK you from the top to the bottom of my heart for the info you gave on this song! I have loved this mellow sound since I first heard this commercial from when I was a kid. Thank you so much!
@Masmosaic1 My pleasure. I was enamoured with this song as a kid too. So much so that I contacted the corporate office of Chanel to find out what the song was lol. We used it for part of our wedding music as the bride entered.
If you can believe this, shortly after this MASTERPIECE of a commercial came out, I, in my unlimited adoration of it, tracked down, somehow, that agency that created it. They were called (at the time, who knows if they're even still in business) "Doyle, Dane & Bernbach", in Manhattan. And, IF I remembered that correctly & got it right THIS many years later, it just goes to show you how much I worship this commercial.

Could the lady's voiceover be that of the late Julie London? The reason I'm asking is, because she sounded like this while she was in "Emergency!"

Now that you mention it, it does sound a bit like her. But I really have no idea.
Maybe someone out there knows.

@wonderglory I always thought it might be Lauren Bacall.

@hilljayne Lauren Bacall's voice is much deeper than that of the late Julie London.
