Corporate hoes don't like to pursue anything unless it's more or less a proven money maker. One of their primary means of determining whether a project is a good idea (ie will make $) is through the Very Scientific method of doing what their competitors are doing or they think their competitors are doing, in the hopes of piggybacking off some insight unknown to them. I'm guessing they called off the mtg when they realized how eager you were, assuming no one else was competing for the project.
