Thank You - Thank You! I grew up in San Francisco and my sister and I as well as many other little girls knew how to "play" this awesome game. This game combines athletics with dance, gymnastics, skill, balance and was so much fun too! I was looking for this for a long time to teach my daughter who is 9 to play and show her friends too.
THANK YOU ! i we spent a picanica teaching my husband's little niece how to "come in" to a regular jump rope session and i asked everyone if they knew how to chinese jump rope and NO ONE had heard of it !! you are one of the few people who show the "begining" "advanced" steps and you do them BEAUTIFULLY !!! THANK YOU !!!
This was very interesting and informative - but some at some parts I thought this was a joke. I have no idea what youre doing - at all at some points. Maybe if you did only a couple moves in a video explaining what they are, it maight make it all seem less random. You seem very well informed - do a bunch of videos!! Do it!
Your note made me LOL!!! Yes, I need to make something better than this. Watch the other video named "Typical Rubber Band Skipping combinations based on basic moves" in my channel and let me know if that makes more sense:-) Thank you!
I thought I knew what chinese jump rope was (jumping side to side, out and in, and landing on the ropes), but today I met someone who did this kind of stuff with it, like a dance, and it was so amazing! She's an older lady who grew up in China, and when I asked her how she learned that, she just said, "oh, elementary school."
On a side note, I think the other person said it doesn't help because after the first 2 or 3 moves, it's so fast I couldn't learn unless I already knew how to do it.
this is also super super popular in Russia and in former Soviet states. Even today. We used to play this ALL the time. We'd play it outside all day, come home, loop the elastic round some chair s and practice :D
@KaliaMigold You are right. The one I demoed here is original Chinese Style which I don't see people playing outside of China at all. That's why I want to show here. Visit my website for more information.

This is so cool....I remember this from when I lived in Guam. We use to play this outside the lunch room at Agat Elementary School.

Thank you so much for your note!! I might make a slow motion movie to help people actually learn how to do it:-)
This style of Chinese Jump Rope is special and only people grow up in China know how to do it, so I prefer to call it rubber band skipping:-)
