  • I wonder if some goverment agents did tamper with the commuter plane (Bar Harbor Airlines Flight 1808) that she, her father, and and 6 others (including 2 pilots) flew in and crashed on Sunday night of August, 25th, 1985.

The Reagan adminstration might have took offense to her saying that Yuri Andropov was more "important than Reagan in this cold war situation.

  • To sad americans killed her ;-(

  • @AnimusPipboy She wasn't murdered. It was an accident with a plan.

    Source: wikipedia.de

  • @NexusAsyr did you mean "plane"

  • @marehtseira Yes, I think so. I mean "air plane", in German "Flugzeug". Sorry for the mistake.

  • i remember this me and my classmates visited the capitol in maine around 1987or 1988 and i remember visiting a statue of Samantha Smith there such a couragous little girl and so sad she died at such a young age like the old saying goes only the good die young

  • Wow, I remember Samatha now, I was the same age as her and she spoke for a lot of kids at that time - tensions were running high between the West and the Soviets and us kids definitely picked up on that - and worried about it! It was very sad that she died so young, it's such a shame. Aside from that, it's awful that some idiot conspiracy theorists see fit to insult this poor kid's life and memory by indulging their paranoid fantasies on this thread. Shame on you.

  • RIP Samantha

  • It often takes a child to see what adults have right under their noses- we are all human beings and should not have to resort to war to sort things out. R.I.P Samantha, you are inspiring

  • The U.S government couldn't have a 10 year old girl running around messaging the commies so they killed her in that "plane crash".. Fucking inside job! They don't care who they kill!

  • They killed her off like JFK, like her life was a television sitcom it got canceled. FALSE FLAG!

  • beauty and the beast

  • This 10 year old girl is light-years ahead of Ted Koppel (intellectually speaking).

  • It was a special event that co8uld not happen again today, sadly. remember the American kid that tried to get North & South Korea to make peace & plant a forest as a gesture of good will between their border zones?. Sadly opportunities like the one she had are no longer possibleoe rare.

  • huh. all this clash of ideologies and stockpiling of nuclear weapons was practically halted by a 10 year old girl. i applaud samantha. if she was still here i wouldnt mind having a chat with her but oh well

  • To be perfectly honest both the US and USSR were douchbags; the USSR was a totalitarian regime and a declared goal to extend communism as much as possible, possibly the whole world; the USA is and probably has been ever since WWII a very corrupt country; corporations have immense power including defense contractors;

wonderful that ideology and corporatism nearly brought the world to the next mass-extinction event; really wonderful.....

  • She's a true example of the word Initiative, you can do anything in this world if your mind into it :) We all miss you Samantha

  • i think it was a good that samantha did not give up

  • Samantha stepped out of the comfort zone of what was being filtered to her by media & government about the rest of the world to find out for herself ie: Reagan's "Evil Empire comment about the Soviet Union. We hear echos from Bush's "Axis of Evil" comments. This gives children nightmares. To hell with war mongers who push & prod other countries to war. Shame on ignorant people who believe these rants of aggression from their leaders. Shame on them in the light of a brave girl named Samantha.

  • Wow this girl is an angel who came on earth , and served 13 years to bring peace!!

  • @delarosa102

[Partt 1] i couldnt agree more! Samantha Smith, is an angel she made the world a better place, she proved to the american people that soviets/russians are not monsters, and vice versa, she showed the russians/soviets that americans are people kind people just like them.

  • [Part 2] i was born in ukraine in 1988, but grew up un america, and ive been doing alot of reading on the cold war history lately and i read about this girl, she brought hope to america-ussr relations, i was truly inspired by what she has done for these two countries, she really made things better for all of us. and when i learned her fate about the plane crash and that she died, i had tears in my eyes... this little girl is one of my heros now..

  • [Part 3] basically what im saying is this little girl is loved/admired not only by americans, but by people from other nationalities as well... if only all of the world leaders had wanted, what this little girl wanted, "no war" the world would be a better place today...

  • she is an insperation to us all...

  • Смелая девочка...

  • She was the first American I knew (through the TV lense, but I think we all felt like we knew her). I almost worshiped her I think, and when she died (I was 10).... jeez. I hope more English speaking ex-soviets see this interview. Thank you so much for posting, Olga

  • I never knew that she was the essential figure in the end of the cold war.

  • It's a shame that she died, but she'll never be forgotten.

  • @discountbacon She was so young!

  • What a wonderful world! So many things I still dont know. Thanks for uploading the video.

  • I miss you Samantha . . .

  • Hi besiknibladze,

Did you go to school with Samantha? Thanks for visting.

  • No Dear Mainecakes, I was just her Fan... and I remember to many happy fillings, because of her activities... I was just one of the "soviet Georgia's" school student when she wrote that letter and I was so happy... yea, I miss her, I miss her sweet voice...

  • I wrote a letter to Radio Moscow in the 80's asking for a USSR/CCCP football t-shirt. They sent me a little flag of the radio station "Radio MOCKBA-CCCP". It's not the same, but it's a bit funny

  • Thanks for sharing this story...:-)

  • Thanks for your comment. I agree, parents make a huge difference in a child's life.

  • Samantha Smith was born on June 29th, 1972, and I, Samantha Smith, was born on June 29th, 1992. I think that's pretty neat.

  • That is an amazing connection. I hope you are able to continue Samantha's legacy for peace. Thanks for sharing.

  • God Bless her man she was a true angel

  • Thanks TravisDrago for your kind comment.

  • I remembered her as a kid during 80s

  • She had quite a life, although short, she left an impression.

  • SAMANTHA SMITH - My hero! I shall love her with all my heart always. A darling angel so much missed. XXX

  • Thanks newdonia, She is missed by many.
