how is this for playback from, say, Sibelius or Finale or Band-in-a-Box? I've heard complaints about it as a stand-alone MIDI player, but how about when it's hooked up to a computer?
does it work as a sound module? withour the need of a computer and shit? i bought one, but i think i fucked it up, i wanted something like a sound module...
@Orchid85 It does not. The SD-50's GS implementation is only the basic 226 patches required for GS compatibility, which is about the equivalent of the SC-50 (SC-55 minus the MT-32 bank).
For the SC-88Pro bank in a mobile unit try the SC-8820 instead, though the module is about 11 years older.
@BezemerPeter I also have one (as well as SD-20). However the SD-50 isn't related to the earlier Edirol SD-20/80/90 line except for the name and the company (since Edirol was Roland's brief spinoff to the desktop module market). MIDI implementation and sound bank is very different between the two.
May be a great unit for studio work but not as a stand alone midi file player , sorry it did,nt cope. much to much reverb with no way to control it , Terry
Wow Leute... vielleicht habt ihr es nicht gemerkt, aber ca. 80% der Videos stellen Gitarren bzw. Bässe vor. Da könnt ihr euch wirklich nicht beklagen. Außerdem gibt es auch eine Menge Musiker die andere Instrumente spielen und die wollen schließlich auch Review Videos! ;)
