Hey there! Have you ever tried intellectus 424 diet (do a google search)? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my cousin lost tons of weight with it.
The problem with plant based ALA (that is most commonly consumed from flax and even "omega 3" eggs) is that most people have trouble converting enough of it to DHA and EPA to suit their body's needs. Your best sources for DHA and EPA are fish and fish oils like Cod liver oil and Krill oil as well as Sardines, Smelt, Shad, Anchovies and of course Salmon. Salmon (and some others) also have extra health benefits because they contain Astaxanthin which is what gives salmon it's pink reddish color.
@flyingchainchomp...I have spoke to many nutritionalist and doctors and asked if you can take TOO many omega 3...especially if your trying to loose weight. Ok...You should have a bare minimum of 600mg a day. I on the other hand take around 4,000mg a day!! Which includes flax, salmon, tuna, olive oil, walnuts, sardines, and krill oil. According to every professional I spoke to, they said that is perfect! High levels of Omega 3 reduced overall inflation and in fact increased my performance in the
Does anyone know the recommended amount of omega 3's to burn fat efficiently? I'm using a supplement and I was wondering if it was enough. I would love to buy organic eggs and cook salmon for dinner but I live with my Dad and I would never hear the end of it because he thinks organics are a waste of money and gets very mad when he sees me buy them...
Your information is incomplete. Grains don't have omega 6 fatty acids. Vegetable oils do. Grains raise insulin levels that activate enzymes that convert the linoleic acid in vegetable oil to arachidonic acid. Best book to read that will help you understand is the Omega Rx Zone by Dr. Barry Sears, the pioneer of the omega 3 revolution..
Ok just to plays devils advocate, doesn't walnut oil go rancid easily? I have learned that the best way to eat Walnuts is to crack'em so they are fresh so as to not let the oils spoil. And why have you not mentioned beef tallow? I don't want to have to eat sardines everyday to get my omega 3's and flax seeds are gross, and how do you inhibit the phytic acid? I've tried sprouting those suckers, it is a mucilaginous mess. Although sardines are ok I guess.
I take fish oil, 3 times a day along with vitamin b12 and vitamin e supplements. Run 20 miles everyday, eat healthy, occasional beer or 2 or 3 lol, and dark chocolate is my favorite. I can eat and enjoy those things because I burn it off with batting an eye lash. IM A BEAST. I can't be touched. And as for these nut jobs who count calories and won't eat a piece of bread are crazy. Get fucking real, you can eat what you want if you burn it off. Don't be silly.
@SumNJFella well I wonder what your source of vitamin E is, the best is Palm oil because it has tocotrienols and tocopherols and is easily assimilated. IT is damned gross though, not even joking. Urgh. I take very little mixed with my coconut oil, 1. to help keep the oil from oxidizing since as you know, vit. E is an antioxidant, but also because too much results in digestive issues, I'm sure you can guess.

@TheDietSolution Hi is there a difference between wild Salmon and farmed salmon, as I understand it farmed salmon is feed on pellets with a dye in it to turn the flesh pink.
This is also the case with sea bass in the UK these farmed fish are feed on some form of pellets.
@Nyangao If you want a more vegetarian option to get your Omega 3's try flaxseed! You dont want the flaxseed oil you want the actual flaxseed because it has fiber and cancer fighting lignans that flaxseed & fish oil LEAVE OUT! B/c you have to have the flax seed ground up to get all the nutrients it can sometimes be hard to get it in your diet fully. Check out FlaxFit, this tablet takes the ground flaxseed powder and puts it into a awesome chewable tablet form, look it up at flaxfit.com
@liplylips If you are going to eat cheese, make sure it is organic (and preferably raw). Organic plain yogurt can be counted as a carb serving; organic Greek yogurt can be counted as a protein serving.
I would actually classify hummus as a carb choice because it is highest in carbs but good healthy carbs that is. It's not really high enough in omega 3's. I would include hummus along with a protein in meals or snacks. And of course make sure it does not have added hydrogenated oils.

I started taking 3 softgels a day of Omega 3-6-9. Is it too much and do I need to lower the dosage?

Flax seed is banned in some parts of the EU. If you want proper dose of omega 3 you can get your hands on pharmaceutical grade omega pills.

Hi friends,
Just found out that the Omega 3's are located in the yolks of Omega 3 rich eggs. So Eat the yellow coloured yolks for having access to Omega 3's.

I've heard that flaxseed only has 20% conversion to omega 3's.

Hey Isabel! Big fan!
This question has been boggling my mind for a while.
Does (organic) Hummus count as a good source of Omega-3?
All I know is that its low in saturates and free from trans but way too high in calories.
