I got a nasty virus with this Security Essentials Anti Virus! This Anti Virus couldn’t stop it! It will only protect your PC from small manageable viruses!
you only want this for avg so it can complete the avg's official version things like rootkits and you dont need to worry about gaming, yet it doesnt beat avg when it comes to most viruses and spyware, so its avg's second line of defence
@dresskid AVG is a massive resource hog and you will notice that if your playing games depending on your hardware specs. I use MSE and threatfire and they are working perfectly. ^^
AVG Free is useless, it uses such outdated definitions that you are fooled into believing that you're being protected but in reality it just isn't sophisticated enough to see any of the actual viruses on your computer.
99/100 computers with viruses I fix up have AVG Free installed. You might as well use no anti virus on your computer if you're going to use AVG. At least that way you'll try and be more careful when online.
As for MSEss, quite easily the best free anti virus you can download
@mitsostsagka no not really the only time it slows down is during start up so make sure it fully loads before using your computer. Once it loads, you shouldn't feel a difference.
Thanks for going over the interface and everything... Would've been helpful to compare scanning speed with the likes of AVG among others, and maybe even testing it with real malicious files... But overall a good quick intro to MSSE...
i have a cracked version of windows 7 got any ideas how i get this then? cause it says when i try to download i got no genuie windows version :S

@HAR333777 If I had a choice, I'd choose bird flu over AVG.

Does it protect against rootkits and is it better (in your opinion) than Avast?
TweetReece 1 year ago
yes mse protects against rootkits and i like this better than avast because it has a good background scanner.
TheTechKid101 1 year ago
@TheTechKid101 Wrong, it doesn't protect against rookits, it purely relies on signatures, doesn't even have proactive defense (like registry defense)

Nice wallpaper. I think you shouldn't expect much from a free Antivirus... Especially, when is made by Microsoft! LOL!

if mcafee runs in the background of your computer, then i recommend removing the program first before installing this one.
