It's from the song "Whisper (2002)" by Evanescence off of the alum "Not For Your Ears". Although it's a sample from another piece of music which I can't remember the name right now.
I dislike clutter on my taskbar. The quick launch menu consolidates all shortcuts into one, easy shortcut.
Granted, I don't use the quick launch folder/button and have apps pinned to my taskbar as well as a few on RocketDock, but I thought it was worth mentioning for those who do want the quick launch back.
In this video and currently, I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate. I like to customise Windows and when I made this video, I was testing out a "Windows XP for Windows 7" theme.
Happy that I could help. Although I would advise giving AeroSnap another try some time in the future.
It was something that used to irritate me back in the day since I went straight from XP to Windows 7 too but I've found it useful for moving files around different folders and comparing two products at the same time when online shopping.
I can't live without it now that if I do use a Windows XP PC - I have to use a program that fits on a USB flash drive of the same name - AeroSnap. XD
@LordReserei01 I always click on the taskbar and select "tile windows vertically" if I want to compare them, or move files around. But I'm sure you're right and I'll get used to Windows 7, eventually.
Indeed, but I like to make there is as less clutter as possible on my desktop and taskbar. I personally use a combination of 12 pinned items and rocketdock, but some people may still prefer to use the old XP/Vista style quick launch.
I take it that you either didn't watch the full video given the explanations for why you'd want to do such things, and don't read previous comments.
I was testing out the theme for someone at the time. I recommend Windows 7 to anyone as the best Microsoft OS to date, and out of the things in this video - I personally only use the MP3DMOD.dll trick since I use K-Lite Mega Codec Pack.
Although, and for a while I used to have a Windows XP VM to provide technical support, but I no longer do so.
how to hide your folder name to transparent folder and name....right click on the folder and click on properties and the secret is here, just press Ctrl + F13. Click Ok and that's all enjoyyy
"Take Ownership" is a tweak that's commonly used by those who customize Windows a lot. It's easier than going to properties and the security tab, doing this and that.
I'll give you a link to where you can download "Take Ownership" and have that option in a PM...it's perfectly safe and you can revert back if you don't want it anymore.
I rarely use that shortcut personally although its nifty. There's a way to pin an icon to your taskbar too although it's worth mentioning that WinFlip or whatever it's called doesn't work if you don't have Aero enabled or have Starter/Home Basic.
Camtasia Recorder which is part of Camtasia Studio. I have a full list of the software I use for editing and recording in the description as well as credits for my videos.
Hi there, LordReserei0! I love your videos. I noticed in this one, at 0:46, that the right-click context menu was white. Mine is gray. Is your's white because of the Windows XP theme you have, or did you make it white yourself? Thank you. Cheers.
It was most likely just because of the theme. I believe the default Windows 7 theme does have a grey tone to it but I haven't used the default theme in a while and use custom ones a lot.
I've already stated in older comments that this video is intended for people who are slowly adapting to Windows 7, have issues with multi-monitor configurations (which some people do have issues with AeroSnap and dual-monitors) and those who use codec packs like K-Lite which comes with ffdshow.
In addition to that, not everyone likes having so many icons pinned to the taskbar or may have low resolution monitors and I was Beta testing this theme for some one else.
The only thing in this video which I do on a regular basis is have the taskbar thinner than default since it saves 10-20 pixels
There's also many things that still makes Windows 7 far more superior than older OSs even if one was to do a large percentage of the things in this video regarding some features.
At the end of the day, the best thing a person can do is tweak to their needs. Those tweaks do not determine whether a person should or shouldn't have bothered with an operating system.
for people that knows how to that would say "thats so easy." for people that dont know would say "ohhh (pause the vid) oh k. do this and do that. thats frigging awesome!!!"
Yeah, that's pretty much how it goes for anything whether IT or something else. Those who already know are "lame" and those who are learning "awesome"...it's those who I've helped that I care about more so over the ones who already know since most of my videos are aimed at beginners. =)
@LordReserei01 thats how we learn. be an ignorant guy at first and regret your mistakes... nah im just kidding. but i love your videos. it helps alot.
RocketDock. Watch the video response called "Mac Dock For Windows"...it's a tutorial how to get the dock and I've included a pack of icons as well as skins
Yeah...more specifically a BSG conversion mod for the game Star Wars: Empire at War (Forces of Corruption expansion). So instead of the Empire and Rebels, space and land units are Cylons and Colonials. =)
For this video I used Sony Vegas Pro 8 but now and with my most recent videos - I use Sony Vegas Pro 10 (video editing), Adobe Soundbooth CS5 (audio editing) and Camtasia Studio (screen capture).
Thank YOU. Finally this video relived my worries about one day having to "upgrade" to this windows 7 piece of crap. Your links pointed me to a paper trail on tweaking it back to Xp style as much as possible. THANKS!
You can google "Take Ownership.reg" or check out the video I have that's called something like "Right-click Extender" which allows you add a bunch of useful shortcuts to the right-click context menu like Take Ownership
It's the Windows XP Welcome Theme that's usually played if you're sound drivers are installed when you install XP or if you upgrade from service pack to service pack.

Thanks for the thin task bar. Is there anyway to make the size of the window contain all the info inside the window? My monitor is a HD Sony and it does not have the 1600x1200 resolution. Recommended is 1024x768 and max is 1280x768. Is there a work around? I can not see the boxes at the bottom of microsoft word when trying to save to documents. Please tell me in easy terms as I am not a specialist. Thanks for any help you may have.
@armenchuck if you are trying to get your display to your highest pixel resolution (and its not available) update your display drive automatically over the internet.
-right click "Computer"
-click "Properties"
-find and click "Device Manager" on the left side of the window
-expand your "Display Adapters"
-right click on the Driver
-click "Update Driver Software..."
-click "Search Automatically for Updated Driver Software"
(Be connected to the internet and let it update over the internet)
Camtasia Recorder which is part of Camtasia Studio 7.1, but it costs a lot although you could use a free alternative called Camstudio with the codec called TechSmith Screen Capture Codec (by the same people who make Camtasia, free codec).
I have tutorials for accomplishing the same quality under my "Sony Vegas Pro Tutorials" playlist. =)
I can't begin to count how many times I've said this in replies to people now. lol
I was Beta testing (trying out the theme) for someone else to find bugs and anything wrong it. I didn't use the XP theme for that long as I'm always changing my theme on a regular basis.
I used to think that too for a while until I decided to customise XP to look like OSX (ironic, I know) then I started using Linux distros like Ubuntu Ultimate Edition where the taskbar is at the top of the desktop. So I guess I just liked and stuck with it when I made the transition to Windows 7.
Sometimes I set the taskbar to hide when I'm using Rainmeter or in some more recent tutorials, when I'm recording them. It's always seemed odd to me when people put the taskbar to the right or left.
Looks like you have bought windows xp disk or just a computer with windows xp and used some theme changer from the Internet, buy the real disk not that hard $110 bucks.
Yeah!....I wish they had a "secret song" for Windows 7 because I really like the Windows XP Welcome Theme. I listen to it over and over sometimes, used to like it after installing Windows and it started playing.
Nearly all of the "Windows 7 secret songs" aren't that secret. They're either part of other themes or standard songs that are in the Windows Media Player 12 library when you install Windows 7.
It's just that people either don't change the theme from Windows 7 default or people use other media player software like iTunes.
Even the Windows XP Welcome Theme "secret song" wasn't secret, it was played during installation the of XP if your sound drivers were installed or upgraded service packs. XD

wat is the screen capture software you use? its AMAZING quality :)
alextheramsay 10 months ago
Camtasia Recorder which is part of Camtasia Studio 7.1, but it costs a lot although you could use a free alternative called Camstudio with the codec called TechSmith Screen Capture Codec (by the same people who make Camtasia, free codec).
I have tutorials for accomplishing the same quality under my "Sony Vegas Pro Tutorials" playlist. =)

Why did u ruin windows 7 with the xp theme!?
marko18413 10 months ago
I can't begin to count how many times I've said this in replies to people now. lol
I was Beta testing (trying out the theme) for someone else to find bugs and anything wrong it. I didn't use the XP theme for that long as I'm always changing my theme on a regular basis.
I love customizing.

thanks for telling me how to fix the taskbar! i was wondering if i could bring it back to vista style! thanks for the help
ryito1122334455 11 months ago
Was glad to help. I just think it's little cleaner to have a thinner XP/Vista style taskbar and it saves you around 12 pixels for workspace. =)

I have never seen anyone stick the taskbar on top. That would drive me bonkers. I have it disappear which is the way that is the best.

Windows 7 may have not installed your audio drivers for some reason. Would be best to download them! =)

Looks like you have bought windows xp disk or just a computer with windows xp and used some theme changer from the Internet, buy the real disk not that hard $110 bucks.

moldykid27 11 months ago
Yeah!....I wish they had a "secret song" for Windows 7 because I really like the Windows XP Welcome Theme. I listen to it over and over sometimes, used to like it after installing Windows and it started playing.
LordReserei01 11 months ago
@LordReserei01 dude they have one youtube secret windows song
moldykid27 11 months ago
Nearly all of the "Windows 7 secret songs" aren't that secret. They're either part of other themes or standard songs that are in the Windows Media Player 12 library when you install Windows 7.
It's just that people either don't change the theme from Windows 7 default or people use other media player software like iTunes.
Even the Windows XP Welcome Theme "secret song" wasn't secret, it was played during installation the of XP if your sound drivers were installed or upgraded service packs. XD
