  • I think this album is great but some songs are better in the old one.

  • 99% of the time I prefer originals to re-makes (movies, music, cars, clothes, wrestling gimmicks). However this is superior to the original.

  • The old one is better.

  • I prefer the old one....but this one is still awsome ! ;-)

  • fucking badass song

  • Volibear approves this.

  • @hansmys xD

  • Prefer it or not, but the growl at 1:00 is otherworldly.

  • denne sangen passer fint nå, med berit og greier

  • @skekord passer like fint til Cato og Dagmår :D eller hva faen de heter.

  • I don´t like this version of Stomblast, I´m sorry, I feel the old is better, but the drums of HELLHAMMER are great. In the old song version the voice of SILENOZ is the differnce for song, its my opinnion. GREAT DIMMU

  • I prefer the 96 Version but the drumming from 5:22 are not from this world. awesome

  • One of my favourite albums of all time. Better then the original. Oh wait, im not allowed to say that, because of some black metal issue. This is just evoluted Symphonic BM thats it.

  • Incredible singing from Shagrath. And an epic song. Why isn't all their lyrics in Norwegian?

  • All about puritanical album,

That was like bodoms follow the reaper. Incredible

  • Great music *.*

  • vortex needs to come back

  • Old Dimmu is way better then new Dimmu...And as for Abrahadabra the only song I liked on that album was Gateway

  • 10 got killed by a storm

  • @Zebixo1205 yeah, and then their zombie corpses disliked this video.

  • i prefer this version of the song. to me dimmu borgir is the best black metal band ever. absolutely top shelf. genious music.

  • @pizdauskas1 Dimmu Borgir aren't really "Black Metal"....they have too many different musical elements to be able to classify them in one specific genre. I like to call them "Epic" myself. \m/

  • @pizdauskas1 haha

  • nothing wrong with brahadabra. they like it, i like it still sounds awesome.

  • Stop the pissing against the wall, it really all boils down to opinion, there is truth to both arguments.

Older dimmu is the best - With this stuff they are also closer to their roots.

but on the other hand never changing is also a road to doom.

Adapting and changing the style is how we find other interesting avenues, again just a shame that the steps are not always in the right direction.

So instead lets have a beer, and you guys help me find the non formulaic true path through the metal.

  • @WhyBeSoNegative Thanks for clearing that up. I doubt we were going to end that argument any time soon. Enjoy what you love no matter what it is. Doesn't even matter if it's metal or rock or whatever, just listen to what you love. I'm sick of the stupid barriers metal-heads keep putting up around every single sub-genre as if they are all their own race or something. I definitely agree, let's all just have a beer and kick back with some heavy fucking metal!

  • So many haters, so many fucking idiots. Bands change! Just because it is a very different style does not mean it is bad. Try something new once in a while you bloody whinging fools. If you don't like it don't listen and stop crowding these videos with your useless complaints. In Sorte Diaboli was released years ago. If you didn't like it then you should have stopped listening to those songs and complaining long ago. Get over it and listen to something you like instead!

    Dimmu Borgir are amazing!

  • @daglasses2 change isnt good when it involves selling out all the way back in 1999

  • @GuidoMetallo Bands don't sell out, they evolve. Sometimes it's not for the better but that is just life. Dimmu Borgir however still create quality music albeit quite different from their roots. Just because some people from the original fanbase can't cope with a new style doesn't mean they sold out. And just because a band recieves commercial success doesn't mean they are selling out either, it just means people like their music. If you disliked their changes in 1999 why the hell are you here?

  • @daglasses2 they play soft unimaginative shit to appeal to a larger audience. That is selling out

  • @GuidoMetallo It is not unimaginative. The music they play is still very atmospheric and is on a much larger scale now than it ever was. And to have an orchestra of around 100 people and be able to incorporate that into a metal song is very imaginative. To try and call Dimmu Borgir unigmaginative is so stupid, you must not have much understanding of music. You are just another ignorant fool who thinks only the metal you like is actually acknowledgeable as music. How wrong you are...

  • @daglasses2 they get an entire orchestra only to have THEM dominate and drown out the shitty guitar riffs and weak arse vocals. I bet dimmu didnt even arrange the orchestrals. Talented bands are ones that dont rely on other people to make the music for them. Ahem... Emperor, Limbonic Art, Obsidian gate so on.....

  • @GuidoMetallo The big orchestra adds to the uniqueness of Dimmu Borgir. The same song can drift between so many styles and still retain the black metal feel to it. The guitar work may not be the same as For All Tid or other older albums, but their new style no longer requires as frenetic and high paced riffs. It is still good even if it is a bit slower. Some of the best metal songs are played at a snails pace. DM's collaboration with an orchestra and versatility makes them just as talented

  • @daglasses2 I am well aware of slow pace being good. Funeral doom is slow paced excellence. Dimmu are just money makers who appeal to metal newbies who haven't heard the actual good black and death metal that is out there

  • @GuidoMetallo Well gateway bands are important to bring more people into the world of metal. And when people hear these newer songs and become accustomed to them they then trace back the bands history and discover their more ferocious side and discover other black metal bands etc. How can you criticise a gateway band. Every single metal-head listens/ed to gateway bands. How else did you discover it?

And commercial success is a good thing, it means they can keep making music without limits.

  • @daglasses2 Pretty much if you listen to the later albums (excluding stormblast mmv) by this band for more than a year youre a fuckwit

  • @GuidoMetallo I've been listening to the later albums for three or four years now and they are still good. I'm not a fuckwit, I'm just not an elitist prick with a silver spoon up my ass just cause I listen to metal. I'm very tolerable with my tastes. I listen to just about everything from power metal and speed metal all the way to goregrind and black metal and pretty much anything in-between. thus I see no problem with bands exploring new territory, as long as they do it well which DB are.

  • @daglasses2 There is nothing good about them. Useless dry shitty vocals, boring generic riffs, awful song construction. they get an entire orchestra and do fuck all with it. Its not dark, its not atmospheric, its not the least bit heavy. Oh and i see you like slipknot and disturbed, your opinion doesnt count for shit

  • @GuidoMetallo Trust an elitist prick to try and prove himself superior by mentioning Slipknot and Disturbed. Way to stroke your undeserved ego fuckwit. I mentioned in my last comment that I like all styles of metal, thus even nu metal is good from time to time. If you don't like DB's changes from years ago then why are you still prowling around these videos bitching and moaning like a child? Do you really have nothing better to do than to gripe about something that happened years ago?

  • @daglasses2 Im not an elitist, moron. I listened to good shit that doesnt set out to make a fortune on misinformed retards like yourself

  • @GuidoMetallo I am in no way misinformed. I listen to Emperor, Satanic Warmaster, Dark Funeral, Belphegor and also stuff like Haemorrhage, Regurgitate, Bloodbath, Carnage etc. But that doesn't mean I also can't enjoy Disturbed and Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth and all these other bands people keep bitching about. Whether they are underground or not these bands all make GOOD music, regardless of your tastes. Expand your tastes or just stop bitching. Don't like it then go away. Simple as that.

  • @daglasses2 A few good bands doesnt mean shit as far as i am concerned. Your taste is degraded by utter shit

  • Dimmu Borgir is a band. The people IN the band grow and mature and change like EVERY human being. It's their band, they play what they wanna play, the way they wanna play it. No one said you are obligated to like it or even listen to it. Oh and that's directed toward all the Dimmu haters I see.

  • is it weird that black metal makes me so calm, and makes me sleep like a baby?? it's so calming... ^^

  • @rakimion Not at all.

  • @vash4501 cool! ^^

  • Bands change. Get over it. They wanted to try something new, let them. That being said, seeing how Abrahadabra was not very successful, I think they will do something different. But really, if a band stays the same for a long time, then that would get boring. I would rather have variety, than the same thing alll the time.

  • Everyone complained about this album, specially me, but after listened to it several times, I noticed that, this album is not as bad as many people thought, in fact for me is a good album, but well...now they have became in a overrated band with no intentions to be that great band that they were...

  • abrahadabra was complete shit ive met my limit with dimmu borgir

  • Yup both versions are good. This album was re-recorded with good intentions and the result is very nice indeed. I like both albums.

But to agree with @LordGordy12 : I hate what they've become. Especially without Mustis and ICS VORTEX (!!!!) it will be SHITE. damn...

  • FAIL. THIS MUSIC IS 4 LOOSERS^^

  • I like them in songs like "The Sacreligious Scorn" and I still like them in their newer songs like "Gateways"

  • I though it was from 1996? o.O

  • Dimmu actually got me into listening to better bands instead of what I used to listen before and what I thought was "good" music. And also got me into Satanism. And never been happier!

  • @theAXELnater274 Wow... I'm starting to get into Satanism too! :)

  • @ForlornSong Go on my channel theres a link to a website that will help you learn more about Satanism. Darkest Blessing my Brother. Hails!

  • @theAXELnater274 fuck satanism idiots..it's just a religion..why not be fee and think for yourself??U like praising unexisting false entities?

  • @fataxel Bro....do your research on Satanism. Satan exists and I can proove this beyond all doubts. Your probably an Athiest and believe in Science. Spiritual Satanists also believe in Science. But since you dont have the same thoughts as I do, do not come to me with "fuck satanism idiots etc etc etc"

  • @theAXELnater274

You can prove this beyond all doubts? Please, be my guest and go right ahead.

  • @fataxel Dude, if someone believes differently from you just leave it at that, don't go bashing on other peoples beliefs. I'm not a satanist either but I would have nothing against someone who was.

  • @meatybeast123 true,true

  • while their new stuff isn't all great, i think its good that they are trying something new. if people didn't try anything new, there wouldn't be metal as we now know it.

  • I think Dimmu changed their style around so they would have more pocket money to go to Hot Topic.

  • I have the original 1996 stormblast and I much rather that to the re-recorded version, much more atmosphere.

  • Some of there music is truly epic. It's too bad they don't have instrumental versions of some of there songs.

  • It seems like black metal purists love shity productions. I personally much prefer this version.

  • @karnivorus they both have their qualities. this one is more intense, the other is far more sombre. i like both

  • What the fuck is up with the comments, it changed.

  • I just listened to the 1996 Stormblåst song. Then I right away went to listen to this. My God!(or my Satan) where is the harmony and atmosphere of the original Stormblåst? The mix of old and new doesn't work in this case. This version is very horrible!

  • I don´t like this version, sorry.

  • this version is horrible 1996 stormblast was the best ever.

  • Now that Dimmu Borgir has been reduced to the two original members of the band + galder, I think its "possible" we might see some future genius work regarding newer albums. I wont say their latest music is horrible because I am open minded, but I dont exactly enjoy the particular direction they took (especially with some of the brilliance they've created in the past). However I do hold very high expectations of anything new they will put out. There is no reason for them to fail this time.

  • The best moment of the song 3:43 FAIL, the older version to me is much better.

  • All Albums , Behind the Enthrone darkness triumphant was Shit !!!!!!!!!!

  • M A G I C!

  • I don't about you guys but learning Icelandic is freaking hard, teaching myself some right now and I have a nack for languages, it is hard.

  • Fuck Dimmu, but this (their first album) wasn`t poser ass shit like nowadays...

  • @RoyLikesKMFDM Well actually, it's a remake of their second album, But I do agree, their last two albums(In Sorte Diaboli & Abrahadabra) Where absolute Shit!

  • @LordGordy12 theres only like a few good songs on those album, rest is poser bull

  • @KrispySn1p3r I only liked two song on In Sorte Diaboli and I did not like ANY song off of Abrahadabra!

  • @KrispySn1p3r It really piss Me off because Dimmu Borgir is very good band and one of the first Black Metal bands I listened to, It just piss Me off to no end that Abrahadabra is what they'v become!

  • @LordGordy12 i know. abrahadabra seriously sucks! theres a song called dead men dont rape, it sucks

  • @KrispySn1p3r Dead Men Don't Rape isn't even Dimmu Borgir's song. That song is originally by Global Genocide, Forget Heaven. Dimmu Borgir just covered it.

  • @1mm0rtalS0ul it still sucked! LOL!

  • @KrispySn1p3r I'm not saying it didn't. Lol.

  • @1mm0rtalS0ul LOL, but conclusion: Stormblast is their best album. but i like their old stormblast better.

  • @KrispySn1p3r I can't say if it's better or not, considering I haven't listened to the album; but I do agree that their old Stormblast is better.

  • @LordGordy12 over time good things come to an end just like cof

  • @LordGordy12 the problem is the goddamn fucking MAINSTREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @LordGordy12 back to For all Tid would be the best, I wish it was possible but it appears they are far past the point of returning.

  • @LordGordy12 Abrahadabra is good, but the old dimmu was better

  • @RoyLikesKMFDM Yeah fuck you too.

  • @RoyLikesKMFDM yep, very true..i like it that mayem and immortal haven't let me/us down after all there years

  • @fataxel you`re forgetting Burzum here?

  • @RoyLikesKMFDM so-so...i mean Vallen has 4 tracks i love, and Bellus only 2..BUT the thing is that the guy's up and running again..and that's good. I still wait for some filosofem like albums from him

  • Haha I saw there might be some debate as to which version is "better". Anyone who thinks that the old recording is better probably also thinks that Jimi Hendrix is/was a better guitarist than Jeff Loomis, etc...

  • @VinceTarrance Hendrix actualy was...

  • @VinceTarrance Loomis is overrated. Jimi has been dead for years, by the way.

  • @Kawizle How is he overrated? Although Jimi is dead, there are audio recordings from when he was alive..

  • @VinceTarrance I know, I was just informing you that he was no longer around. And I just think Jeff isn't the god of guitar that some people think he is. He's great, yeah, but Jimi was tons better and was one of the best guitarists of all time.

  • amazing

  • I prefer this version. I think they are more skilled instrument players in this 1.

  • in my opinion, people who say, that the original was better are just sad, that they´re not special anymore because they listen to DB since 1995. musically, the new version is definitly better

  • I discovered this band when i was 13 years old.

i was listening to bands like As i Lay Dying and From First To Last.

God i was such a misunderstood fucking tool.

Metal has changed my life completely.

And its all thanks to Dimmu Borgir.

    Drink Beer.

  • my favourite song ever

  • are the lyrics in english ?

  • @KxK96 nope, norwegian

  • @KxK96 i don´t want to make fun on your cost, bro`, be sure about that. but it´d be funny to everybody knowing, what you thought he´s singing, when you thought, it was english :)

  • @liaMuc87 lol yeah i'd be funny but I just discovered the band when I made that comment and I liked them so i was planning to buy an album and this one sounded good sooo ... I was kinda curious about the lyrics. Anyway I bought In sorte Diaboli. I have nothing against Norwegian, French , or any other bands, It's just I preffer the lyrics in English or German :L even tho im Mexican x) ! and 99% of the bands I listen to are american or German or Bri. soo ... what can i say ? It's my taste in music

  • @KxK96 cool... verstehst du deutsch?

  • I'd prefered if they translated the title correctly...

Correct title in english would be "Stormblown" or "Windblown"

"Stormblast" sounds a bit... death metal, no offense XD

  • @YourDentist007

But the original title of the song is Stormblåst. So that's what the title should actually be.

In english, they write Stormblast because they don't have the "å". Translating the title wouldn't make any sense.

  • @WolfieboyMachi

Yes, that's the way it's usually done, and I agree that songs titles should not be translated.

In this case, however, the same title also has a meaning in english, one that in my opinion sends a believable, but wrong image about the band. So it has a large potential to make people go "Stormblast? What a stupid name. Prolly some stupid teenage wannabe hardcore band..."

  • @YourDentist007

I don't think that's a problem. Most metal fans are familiar with Dimmu Borgir and what they play.

  • @YourDentist007 They are not a "tupid teenage wannabe hardcore band" Dimmu Borgir started in 1993 ;)

  • @MrPvest

Did I say they were? No? Good.

  • @MrPvest

Did I say they are? No? Good.

  • Old version >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>this version

  • love shagrath's growls. how some sound like cheetah, and other like a big ass monster

  • dimmu's best song OTHER than insight and catharsis!

  • Shut up everybody, both versions are fucking awesome!

  • i prefer the old version

  • i've got chills.. 0.o

  • all due respect to the traditionalists...but this version is BADASS

  • @mcmillin22 Agree all the way Just because it's been recorded on decent equipment and had a bit of post production work doesn't make it bad in the least :) ...Just different

  • The old version of this song is much better. More dark, more atmospheric, more melanchonic... this is too noisy. Well, this version is certainly more "metal" than the old one, but old Dimmu Borgir is the best.

  • New stormblast album sux....old verision is much better and old verision got sound of real black metal...

  • A lot of Emperor's influence is heard here, and that is which I like. Ignore those fucks saying they suck now. We all have different tastes.

  • @dzedav11 I don't say new Dimmu Borgir sucks, but on my opinion their music was much better before releasing Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia.

  • Why did dimmu bother remaking the album? The 96 stormblast was amazing in every way and this sounds almost like a different song... Couldnt even hear the keys at the end which was like the whole piont of the second half of the song

  • the version of 96 is better , it was one of the best things i heard and this remake dont give me the same good feeling as then, the soundquality was not top but it was just so match better

  • I like this version better

  • i really thought at 4:00, they really shoulda stayed with the flow of the beginning of the music instead of changing it up by letting it repeat like the way 'hey jude' ended with 2 minutes of non stop repeat that becomes idle and boring.

  • FUCKING LOVE THIS SONG FROM THIS ALBUM....... ONE OF THEIR BEST SONGS !!!! BUT I STILL THINK THEY MESSED IT UP AT THE END.

  • great re-release!

  • I can't even listen to the old album. The production is very weak. The newer album is much, much better in every way.

  • It doesnt sound like th original, did they change some notes?

  • original was better, still fukin epic tho

  • Yeah, I prefer the 96 version. It's easier to sing to.

  • it's surprising so many people prefer the '96 version. While the 96 version is an absolute masterpiece in every sense of the word. The new '05 version's synths are so powerful they flow un-attenuated to the deepest boundaries of my soul. Drumming on the '05 stormblast conjures up a sense of distant panic & chaos that can never escape your mind.

  • New album is more powerful.

  • an older version of the album is much more emotional and more beautiful, though not as fast paced

  • the old version is better I thought

  • I got the original release :P

  • The keyboard isn't loud enough in the mix. I think that's why many people prefer the old version better.

  • the 1996 is way better

  • Yes, i also like the old and new stuff, but i still think i prefer the older version of stormblåst since i've been listening that song over and over (x3000) again, but this one is one Epic Piece of music either. And also the old version of stormblåst was the first dimmu borgir song i ever heard.

  • this version is much better then the original :-)

  • @HeavyGuitarMachine

Yeah right the original is Way Better

  • Comment removed

  • i cant hear it loud enough!!!!!!

  • the best song ever made

  • Dimmu borgir is imo a normal band nowadays with their actual style, but if you see in the past in albums like Spiritual Black Dimensions and before they weren't just a band, they were fucking epic, I mean, unique epicness that will never be forgotten!

  • i think stormblast is the best song of dimmu borgir because it's calm i find X)

    I'm very serious

  • STORMBLAST

  • This song always reminds me of early black metal with Mayhem, Emperor, Immortal, etc. It's like an appreciation for the Devil's Knights (Euronymous and Dead). It probably isn't intentionally written for that but i just think of the deceased black metal legends when i hear this song.

Metal, Pagan, Odin, Satan: HAIL BLACK METAL!

  • The re-recording of this song is so fucking awesome! Try windmilling to this song while singing it :P

  • beautiful

  • i think the original is better than the re-recording...

  • This version is great! Amazing!

  • Awesome. Better than the original.

  • I just came nails, and shall probably set a nursery ablaze tomorrow as a result.

  • Personally, I like this version better than the old one. Shagrath's vocals were more intense in the original, but the instrumentation is far and away better on the new one.

  • @th1nkman

Even though it's a remake I still think it's comparing apples and oranges. They're both good.

  • @zaelie yeah, this album is more similar to Enthrone Darkness Triumphant (thanks to the guitar tone) than to Stormblåst. I do prefer this version though.

  • @csehszlovakze

I preter the stormblast version tbh. but a lot of that has to do with the time of my life when I first heard this album. I was enjoying life more then so music obviously has this retroactive rub-off. the base song is good so either version is good anyway.

  • The re-recording of Stormblåst does sound amazing. I wonder how Dimmu Borgir will sound now that Shagrath is on keyboards and Vortex isn't there to contribute with his clean vocals.

  • @Ablebehett im hoping for a more raw, primal sound, back to the earlier days of black metal.

  • @Hybridv9 I do, too.

  • @Ablebehett

They will be fine. Im a huge fan of both Dimmu's early and new stuff. But i loved their first three albums without Vortex the best :/ Yea Vortex is great but i think they'll be fine..
