this makes me feel so much better after watching too many of those right wing propagandized videos about our healthcare. Welcome Americans! get to know us, we will make you feel like family.
This is a really good story.. I'm an really glad Maureen was able to get the care she needs here in Canada. I don't resent either that she didn't pay into our Tax system her whole life like the rest of us. As Kathleen said at the end .. Health Care is a Human Right for Everyone.. Not just the rich. Don't even resent ya wanting to go home.. Home is Home..
I think Maureen needs to take her story Across America and show the country why our system does work better than theirs.
@thatUkrainianguy Yeah.. We're just really sick of em.. They're Greedy, Monopolistic War mongers for the most part. They slander us because we take care of our own people's. They insult us because we believe in Peace.. They believe in War. We try to reform all but the hardest criminals.. They throw everyone in Jail.. They steal all our or doctor's, Scientist, and Actor's .. All the while snickering dumb remarks, trying to be like us. They're hypocrites.
@beaum1cah Here's an income tax calculator that you can put any wage in and it will give the total payable income tax, but without considering any write offs.
@beaum1cah each province is different. But in ontario I pay 13 percent sales tax. As for income tax it depends on how much you make. 20-29 percent depending on your salary. If you make 100k or more that percentage would be much higher. But remember almost everything is covered. By the time you pay your deductible, health insurance, AND taxes in the US it'd cost way more than that percentage we pay here if you do the math.
@viasafe my moms a nurse, she says a ton of the staff is from canada, and that the same health care system will be here in the us in about 20 years. like full effect, she says theyre in a 50 percent tax bracket. i hope that doesnt happen here.
@beaum1cah we pay a little more but not an incredible amount. the fact is, healthcare cost on average are a lot less in Canada. per capita in canada it is about in 1/2 of the cost per person as it is in the usa
@viasafe I am fully certified Firefighter I/II. I also have Hazmat tech, crash fire rescue, and my EMT. Does Canada need firefighters? Or are they cutting firefighters like in the states? If they take my certs I might start the process of moving!
@plasterdbastard: As an uninsured American, I'm curious as to how long it takes to obtain citizenship in Canada...also could I retain my U.S. citizenship?
Having been born and raised in Canada, the idea of not being able to afford such a basic right as healthcare is foreign to me. Although the US government is attempting to change their healthcare, I really don't think it will happen. These corporations will never give up the power and control they have over the people, it's all about money-they have them so brainwashed with their lies, the average American will actually defend them! It's like watching cattle willingly go to be slaughtered... sad!
Please excuse my lack of full knowledge when it comes to this topic, but are they "stuck" in Canada because they don't want to have to face the expensive medical bills or cannot receive any due to the noted conditions?
another prime example of people wanting more benefit than they are willing to pay for. The canadian health care system is going down because these exact scenarios. Go back to the states , but pay your medical bill before you leave
I understand how they would feel in that they want to be with their families. It's not a rejection of Canada it's just natural. They have certainly made it clear that the US needs an overhaul and that is the point to all of this discussion. We are covered. They are not.We are taking a lot of critisim from people within the US for having "Socialist "healthcare which it is not. It's universal coverage like every other advanced country has with one exception, The United States.
I really felt sorry for these 2 Women at the start of this interview, but started to get Really pissed off towards the end, It would have been nice to hear Thank You Canada, as opposed to I wanna go home & take all the benefits from Canada with me
You know I got into an argument about UHC with a right wing American and the first question he asked me was, who makes money out of the system. He missed the point entirely the healthcare system is not about making money its about saving lives.
What do you call an American that can't return to USA ? Extremely lucky and blessed. USA has spend as of sept. 15 th 2011 , 520 BILLION on Iraq, Afghanistan, and " homeland" security, and no one is better of. USA gifts Israel 4 Billion yearly. Why??? What a waste of our hard earned taxpayers money, and no one cares to question this, meantime millions in states live without health care, proper education, employment etc. Etc. Etc.
@zero7musical1 They can't get temporary insurance to visit. If anything happened while they were in America, they would experience the full wrath of the American health care system's cost. Anyone with any sort of serious condition shouldn't enter the United States of America.
@ReturnOfJackDawson clearly, you are a child. please never try to represent a canadian perspective again. Obviously you only represent a hypocritical and retarded perspective. do the world a favor and try not to open your mouth very often
Good thing Republicans will fight to our last breath to make sure such an awful system never creeps its head into America. Good job, Republicans, thank you for keeping healthcare a revenue stream. Race to the bottom, indeed. I say this as an American, and this is one thing about my own country of which I am not proud.
Some Canadian provinces do NOT charge health care premiums anymore, like Alberta. And temporary contract foreign workers have healthcare coverage as required by WCB/government
These are not poor Americans. The older lady is married to a University professor and the other, her and her husband earn more than $45k per year. That is not poverty. SO even middle class Americans suffer from the high cost of health care in the US. Being poor must be a death sentence in AMerica.
@vampyregirl100 it really is though. being from the u.s. and seeing AND been through it is ! BUT you always have a chance to overcome it in american like i did. but it is tought because of how the system is.
The Tea Party are the same Christian conservatives that were exploited and manipulated by Bush-Cheney. The ruling class uses the Republican party to get simpletons to vote against their own interests in the name of patriotism, religion, the Constitution, etc. It makes you wonder about the efficacy of democracy.
America is run by people with money helping other people with money. The difference is if you are dying of an illness and have no money in America nobody cares, you will be just number 10000000 on that list. Canada it is the opposite.
The US & Canada have fundamental points of view entirely different & nothing is going to change that. Americans regard health care as a discretionary consumable whereas Cdns regard it as a public benefit that all citizens should have access to regardless. As a Cdn I believe that the duty of a nation & a democracy is to provide the greatest good for the greatest #. Yes thr r sacrifices in terms of wait times& some quality, but Im willing to make that sacrifice for the greater good.
I'm for universal health care. My husband and I pay a fortune for COBRA and have high deductibles for our health care. Our only income is Social Security and we are not yet old enough for Medicare. We are using all our small savings just for the COBRA. We moved out of AZ to get care for our disabled son who lost coverage due to the medical cuts in that state. Our whole life has been changed due to the lack of good health insurance affordability in the US.
@ttiiyy you are a complete idiot ... contribute the system? that makes no sense moron! the private sector does not get healthcare to anyone with a precondition, do you think that is fair? it is genocide ......I c delete all the private sectors here in america, and allow the country to have universal care. if you dont like it well then relocate... And you do not have any say regarding which american stays out in which 1 comes back home ..
I hate our american healthcare system it is garbage!.... And I'm American, Its unbelievable how we allow our american people to die ..the pre condition nonsense makes no sense ..... desperately we need a change in this country
To me, as a Canadian, I kind of think this is a tad offensive. It sounds like the only reason you stay in Canada, is for the free health care. I;m just saying, I've been born here, raised here, I don't really have a problem with funding, (through taxes) health costs, but I DO have a problem with funding "free-loaders" You don't want to be here, yet stay here on our dime! Get going! So bad in Canada, butI want a free ride!
@ralphyization PRECISELY. This is why I don't want these fucking liberals to stay in the US (no offense to Canadian people). These morons just don't get it. There's NO free insurance in Canada. Canadian taxpayers work hard and get TAXED to support the system. Yet some morons in the US really believe that the system in Canada is just free. How many Canadian taxpayers are flattered by that? I hope that more of these morons will move to Canada and leave the US alone. God bless Canada.
@ttiiyy No, it ISN'T free, BUT, it's equal. It's not perfect, of course. But the basics ARE equal. Yes, we DO get taxed a little more. Some things you Do have to pay for. Example: private room vs. 3 or 4 bed room in hosp. , removable cast, vs. plaster one. I guess, what bothers me the most, is when someone is ONLY here for the health care. No offense, but I whole heartedly agree with universal access to health care. I've never heard anyone I know, say otherwise! It's a "given"!
@ralphyization I will support the state-run insurance system in the US ONLY when all Americans can agree to contribute to the system. I have no sympathy for LAZE PIGS that just want other people to pay for their healthcare benefits.
They deserve to stay in Canada, not a country like the US.
@ralphyization Canada is a bit more socialistic than the US. This is something that many Canadians will agree on. Many Canadians have been bragging too much about the Canadian healthcare system, so, naturally, many poor Americans just move to Canada to exploit that system. I really hope that they will never come back to the US.
The state-run healthcare system will soon COLLAPSe if freeloaders never pay to help support the system.
Of course you think Canada is better for living, it seems Canadians are taught from early childhood that they're better at everything than the US. That being the case I see no point in speaking to you. Adios amigo. ; )
it would be very difficult for the american system to switch to non profit as it would put alot of drug companies out of business i think. everyone recieves the same benefits in canada and in return we pay a small premium (approx 50.00 per month) for a single person. granted our taxes are higher but when im ill i have peace of mind knowing i will not be refused treatment under any circumstances and will recieve the same level of care as i would in the USA.
@ogopogo5050 Good point. I wish the US could be like that. But the problem is that some freeloaders in the US are socialists. Instead of working full time, they want to live on the financial aid and pay no taxes. Their idea of a "free" healthcare system is just driving me crazy.
They don't get it. Canada has no free healthcare system. All Americans need to be willing to contribute to the system or it won't last long.
@ogopogo5050 I lie in Ontario, and I don't pay a premium. It's covered. End of story.,If you're resident, you are covered. Whether on welfare, workng poor, or insured through your employer. No premiums paid. In my own situation, my husband and I have "extra" coverge through our employers. But NOT for one second, do I resent destitute people's coverage!! Everyone should be entitled to see a doctor! AND get treatment.
@ogopogo5050 The health system in the US is a glaring example of how US politicians work hand in hand with corporations. With the US spending huge amounts of money on healthcare, the real question is, where is the money going? Its going to the insurances companies, the drug companies and anyone else who has essentially bribed one of the many easily bribable US potliticians. THATS why universal health care will never work, becasue the $ is more important to US politicians than the people.
@beaum1cah we do pay higher taxes but we don't get knocked with tons of silly fees. the tax rate in canada on Average is 24% federal and anywhere from 18-27% (provincial and local put together). However what we get in turn is Medical, Police, Ambulance, Fire, Roads, E.I. and those in trouble recieve food vouchers, affordable housing subsudised by the government and Child Care, NATION WIDE. Yes the taxes are steep but if you are every in trouble you have a nation to help you.
@Greginda11 see..the usa gives all those benefits to the illegal immigrants..if your an illegal and you come to a hospital you get free EVERYYTHING food stamps money ect. its an unfair system. but i know in canada if you are not a canadian citizen they get rid of you so you cant just suckoff their system. i think canadas sounds pretty good but i dont think we pay as high of taxes.im not sure though.
@ogopogo5050 No you will just have to wait a rediculous amount of time to get your services. People even tried to open for profit centers that would provider services faster to those who could afford it and people freaked out because people were getting better care than them, even thought they paid more for it, and their use of a privater service in turn would free up spaces at the free clinic. It is well documented that doctore double and triple book in search for profits, as that is the
only way they can improve the salaries they recieve. Considering the demand for free healthcare is endless, there is no reason to worry about making people wait too long because they will come back weather they like it or not. Not knowing the cost of what your recieve is the eact reason america is so expensive. Everyone is covered by insurance and medicare so they dont think twice about asking for every test available.
It's impossible to save everyone. The US population is extremely large. Get over it. Many new immigrants come here with the money in their hands. They help Americans support our government and keeps it running. You people on the other hand are a burden on the US. Don't come back. Let Canada take care of you.
Its silly that most of you are saying you wont make as much in Canada but you arent taking into consideration how much money you spend on dental, regular check ups, medication. If you ever get horribly sick, your life savings is down the drain unless your rich. Also, dont forget about when you get old and your on lots of meds.
@undertakerfreak1127 Please do! More immigrants that are rich enough to pay their own bills deserve to come to live in the US than some poor trash. We have too many poor people in this country :(
@undertakerfreak1127 Poverty is an actual serious problem in the US. It's a good thing that poor Americans move out and hard working middle-class and uppder-class immigrants move into the US. That's just my opinion. The US has always been an immigrant country. There's nothing wrong with what I say. I'm sick and tired of whiny poor trailer park trash that want free lunch but can't contribute much to the nation.
No, you would rather look into PISA scores, ignore other factors, and from there conclude that 15 year olds are what make up an entire population. You were saying something about being retarded?
you know whats retared, people bitching about nothing. USA, CANADA. whatever. the hardest part of my day is waking up. i have the opportunity as everyone else. if i wanted the american dream where its everyone for themselves then i move to USA. if i want to play it safe where everyone is more equal i move to canada. i make over double what my american counterpart would make doing the same work, however the cost of living is more in canada. its in Canada's favor to have a weaker than USA.
You definietly won't make double in Canada doing the same work, not to mention in addition to the cost of living you're taxed much more. In any case, I'm sure living in both countries has its perks, although I'm chosing to stay abroad because both countries have horrible women.
cost of living is more in canada. some jobs you do. i make 31/hr operatering excavator. in the USA, your lucky to get 12/hr, same with crane operators. labourers. On CN we see it all the time because its in both countries.
The United States of America is the only developed country on Earth that leaves the health care of many of its citizens completely in the hands of for-profit entities. This 'Christian' nation of ours thinks access to health care is a "privilege," like a golf club membership or something. Our greedy insurance industry and the Republicans that serve them are a huge part of the reason we ranked #27 in the world in health outcomes not all the long ago.
The reason Canada has free health care is because they are 30 million people who are the largest trading partner with the the biggest economy in the world. I assure you that 30 million Canadians profit much more being the partner of the US than 300 million Americans profit by being partners with Canada. And before naive Canadians even say it, yes, the US has its own resources (oil, lumber, etc.) but burns yours to save our own, and to keep dollars exchanging between us. You're quite welcome.
@JohnQRandom the reason Canada has "free" health care is because back in the 1960's there was a politician named Tommy Douglas. He fought to develop heath care for everyone no matter who you are. It's just like private health insurance except you're automatically accepted and you actually get the coverage without having to fight a company who is only interested in profit. That is one of the reasons why so much of my pay check goes to the gov in taxes.

Point being, the money comes from the fact that you have a small population and you're #1 trading partner is the US. Ever notice how cozy Canada's major citiies are 100 miles or less from the US border? Of course I know you're taxed for it, i just think it's funny that most Canadians think it's "free", and that it somehow makes them better people than Americans.
@JohnQRandom most of the u.s. is by the eastern shore the middle is kinda empty, just like Canadians live in the southern part of Canada. To under stand this you must look at the history and geography of the country. To end in Canada we know we are better not for are health care but for are education that is third best in the world and the U.S. is 34th.
Your education is not "3rd best in the world" and your average Canadian is no smarter than your average American. That is, you do not produce engineers on a large scale (actually your engineering corps is extremely small compared to ours) and you know very little about the world around you (like anyone else). I'm currently teaching in South Korea and the education system here ranks 1st with Japan 2nd. Do not tell me Canada is right behind either nation. Propaganda my friend.
To test how ignorant you are personally, ask yourself how many states make up Mexico, who the current leader is and when Mexico gained independence. Then ask your family, see if they know (they won't). Better yet take a digital camera and approach Canadians in your neighborhood and ask them a series of questions concerning basic mathmatics, science, geography, history and current events. You'll be surprised how little Canadians know. Sorry, but reality is paints a different picture than myth.
@JohnQRandom bla bla bla bla look up the world education rankings from the OECD for 2010 if you can take your moms dick out of your mouth for that long. And it's mathematics not mathmatics and you say your a school teacher lmfao
If you're calling someone out on typos you know you're getting desperate dear. In any case, Canada does not rank "3rd" in the world in terms of education over all. OECD statistics not only vary from year to year, but are also (in many cases) extremely close. Literacy rates in Canada for example are below world standards, but are off set by non-native speakers of English living there, just as they are in the US (along with ghettos). Many things factor into it, I suggest you do more research.
@JohnQRandom Actually, Canadians have the highest literacy standards in the Western World, sans Finland. So I don't know what you are talking about. I think you are talking out of anecdotal evidence, not actual statistics wise. Canada is also 1st in the anglosphere in scientific literacy, and 2nd in mathematic literacy. Unlike you, I can back my sources up, type up PISA scores on google and open the nytimes link for the statistics.
Canada does not have the highest literacy rates next to Finland. Google the article: "Canada's literacy rates below world standards." It's an article from Canada(dot)com and paints a rather dim future if thinks don't change. PISA scores do not mean that the entire nation is literate in that particular subject. The tests are taken by 15 year olds, and the reason the US ranks low is because of ghettos and povert bring the average down. 2009 had Canada ranked at 10 and 8 in math and science.
@JohnQRandom I'm not sure if you studied statistics at all in college. Ghettos and perverts bringing US down? You know at maximum, those demographics account for 10%. There is no way that they can have such an effect in US educational performance statistically speaking. I'm not disputing that Canada ranked 10 and 8 in math and science, the entire Western world is lagging behind. But put that into context, Canada is still doing better than almost all of the western world.
@JohnQRandom Don't base your entire argument about the Canadian educational system based on one article. If you find one article painting a bleak picture, I could easily find another article to the contrary. I don't care what anecdotal evidence you can find; policies and opinions should be based on statistical information. PISA scores portrays the best information because its a large scale study, and it reflects the future. Even famed economists like Jeff Sachs cites it.
50% of black America doesn't graduate high school, and even a higher percentage is funtionally illiterate, not to mention we a tens of millions of illegal Mexicans migrants who enrol their children in American schools. Canadians have only 32 million people, all of your major cities within 100 miles of our border, the largest trading partner with the biggest economy in the world, and a massive Asian immigrant population to help your "stats" in education. You don't have the social problems we do.
@JohnQRandom Even if I was a racist sob like you, and pretended that immigrants and minorities were the problem, here are some fact. Black men constitute 5% of America, even if they were all in jail and illiterate, they cannot be accounted for massive decline in education in America. Second of all, America is around 75% white, while Canada is around 60-65%, lets say these were all natives. Canada's literacy would be affected more by immigrants, including the 'Asian migrants'
@JohnQRandom you are talking everything about gross numbers, which is ridiculous. Literacy rates and education are based on the relative proportion of the educated population. Canada has more minorities and immigrants than in America and frankly, they don't all come with built-in English education, so don't give me some bull crap blaming America's woes on minorities and here is white Canada not affected by all the 'problems' they cause. Frankly, you've been watching too much Fox News.
If you honestly think that Canada has more minorities and immigrants than the US then this conversation is over. You have proven your ignorance as it sounds like you don't even know the population of either nation. I have taught English in 5 different countries over the past ten years (currently South Korea) and I can assure you i don't get my news from FOX news.
I have no idea where you get your information, but if you are taught in your schools that Canada has the same social issues, poverty and a larger % of minorities/immigrants you are completely hopeless. In fact, you are an example of the ignorance and lack of education that exists north of the border. literacy rates (in any field) are largely based on demographics and race my friend, and it's an issue we often ignore in the US due to the fear of being labled a "racist". Good luck.
The black population in the US alone is roughly 40 million, which in itself is higher than all of Canada. Mass illegal immigration, poverty, ghettos and political correctness etc. is destroying America's social welfare, education system, and political system. 50% of the babies in the US are minorities, and even the most liberal of Europeans are waking up to this reality exisiting in their own nations. I don't hate people for their color, but a trade deficit is the least of America's woes.
@JohnQRandom Again, I never seen you blame anyone else but the minorities, so you pretty much are a racist, and yeah I am calling your bluff. Canada has about the same minorities proportionally than America, period. 40 million blacks don't mean much, when they compose 12% of the US population. Illegal immigration is tragic, but 'pure' whites still compose 63% of the population, with mixed whites its almost 80%-this is strictly coming from US Census Bureau not my own observations.
@JohnQRandom Now for Canada, according to CIA handbook, about 66% of Canadians are white. We don't have large black population as America, but it is extremely diversified, I can attest to this because I'm from Toronto. Most European nations are having problems with Islamic immigrants and assimilation, to which we can both agree its a problem. But the troubling fact of matter is, every one of your arguments revolve around immigrants, which it is a problem, I am a conservative myself
@JohnQRandom Problem with immigration only accounts for small portion of the a countries problem, you are basically scapegoating them for major policy failures. To the original point of education, I'm assuming you lived in rather urban areas where there are a lot of visible minorities, and some of the attitudes are troubling, no doubt. But white-majority states like Kansas, Nebraska, West Virginia, and Arkansas has some of the lowest performance scores--it is a systematic problem, not immigrants
I am not scapegoating at all. I'm simply saying that when the drop out rate for some parts of Detroit is 70%, the percentage of drop out tates over all drop dramatically. You are now sounding like someone else, perhaps your mother (who is filling in for you), and who like you. doesn't own a passport and has never traveled outside Canada. I am a teacher from the US, and I suggest you google the article "The Amazing Truth ABout PISA Scores".
The problem with Canadians is that you're fed a healthy dose of "why we are better than Americans" on a daily basis, without ever looking into the stats you so closely follow. Many immigrants in your country out-perform the kids born there, which is why your government so carefully hand picks their immigrants and also why your Asian population is very high. Your engineering corps is very small, and Canada is hardly the backbone of technology in the US (or the world over).
@JohnQRandom Now I'm convinced that you are mentally retarded. Your bias is imcomprehensible. You first chided Canada's literacy rate, which I confounded you. Then you moved on to how better America is, and blamed everything on the migrant population. And now you are making up some bullshit facts about Canada to make you sleep better at night. Let me tell you a fact, Canada has 9 times research personnel per capita than America. Again, you move onto how we have better immigrants-
@JohnQRandom You have more Asian immigrants in America than in Canada you dumbshit. If you walked in streets of Toronto, you would see high number of Somalian and other African population. Canada is blinded by jingoist crap? Go look in the mirror, Americans like yourself are blinded and are ignorant of the fact that the rest of the world is catching up. America's capitalist economy has produced firms like lockheed, boeing, etc, and they are leaders in innovation.
@JohnQRandom So I'm not disputing that US is leader in technology, but everything you said to me has no stats or FACTS backing them up and its just your observation. Canada performs well (contrary to your initial statements) because the education system manages to teach immigrants and natives thoroughly. And perhaps, we don't have complete retards like you teaching our kids. America has some of the best teachers and best education facilities, but it is only available to the privileged few.
Also, the US is not the leader in technology and do not produce anywhere near as many engineers as China does every year. Your comments are all over the place now and you're now resorting to insults. Yes, your immigrants are smarter. That is, they are not illegal migrant workers breeding anchor babies to gain citizenship. They are productive and educated. Please provide a source that supports your claim that Canada has "9 times research personal than the US".
@JohnQRandom You subscribe to a linear way of thinking, much like a child does. You don't see that issues are multi-dimensional construct, and think that China is the leader in technology just because they produce large number of engineers, when America still produces vast amount of patents and innovation. Btw, I got my info from nationmaster website. My comments were completely coherent on the map. It's yours that is completely off the map
@JohnQRandom You have fingers, you can search it yourself, google doesn't allow me to post links on youtube. You probably dropped out of 3rd class liberal arts college because they realized that you're a moron you can distinguish one set of facts from another and can't conduct multi-modality analysis. It's probably why you are reduced to teaching foreigners overseas. Even my community-college dropout friend is teaching in Korea, which pretty much sums up your over-simplified analysis
Your comments now hold no water whatsoever. I teach over-seas because I enjoy living abroad, and I earn much more money here in Korea working for the public school system than in the US. (my apartment is paid for and is walking distance from my school, they pay for a plane ticket home once a year, one month salary upon completeing a one year contract, et.) Perhaps your friend works for a private accademy which is an easier place to find a job (however I don't care.)
@JohnQRandom changing the topic eh, because you are losing all of your argument. I apologize if I offended your personal life, you can clearly tell that I get passionately aggravated if someone mischaracterize Canada without any facts (although if it is legit, I would welcome a debate). But I'm not sorry about how I defended Canadian educational system, it was clear that you were operating under false pretenses (and you know this).
@JohnQRandom Please stop embarrassing yourself. Even Milton Friedman, the most revered conservative economist in American history, said that American education is failing due to the 'system' set up by the government. What happened to Canada's below-average education that suddenly became better education due to immigration and less people? As I said, even in the northern states, like West Virginia and Nebraska, are plague with low marks and teenage pregnancy, is that due to minorities?
I didn't say it's all minorities are at fault, I simply said that it really has an impact on statistics. And of course there is a range among white students as well, just as there are areas in Canada that also perform much lower than others, like any other nation in the world. I've done my own research, I provided an excellent article about test scores in the states. What is it with you and Nebraska? Are the kids in rural Saskatchewan leading the way?
@JohnQRandom I'm not singling out Nebraska, I just needed examples to demonstrate that even homogeneous white states are having problems with education. And for the record, you did say minorities at fault, check the transcript. You never once mentioned alarming rate of drug usage, teenage frequency, single-parent households, low funding for education, lack of good teachers, etc. Your primary argument was predicated on massive social problems caused by immigration.
@JohnQRandom FYI, I have nothing against rural areas, I think they are under-represented and urbanites like Torontonians and New Yorkers are too often attention-whores. Canadian provinces does not show the spread like you see in American states, you don't see an alarming drop if you compare Ontario to Saskatchewan, than you see with Massachusetts with West Virginia.
What are you talking about?? I never mischaracterized Canada, you can google the article concerning Canada's literacy rate. It's an article posted on canada(dot)com. My best bet is that non-native speakers of English contribute a great deal to the problem. Does it mean I hate immigrants in Canada? No. Does it mean the only ones to blame are immigrants? No. Also, I have worked ifor the Milwaukee public school system (the ghetto). Poverty, crime and drop out rates are key factors.
@JohnQRandom again, I said it from the beginning. You cannot base you entire argument on one article, because it is mostly anecdotal I can find another article countering. You have to based your argument on facts, I don't know what else to say. I've been feeding you all these statistical information and nothing is getting through you. Everything is relative, and Canada literacy rating is literally world class according to all measures, whether it is CIA, World Bank, or PISA.
Sorry guy, it sounds like you simply want to believe something based on how it makes you feel. I have never described blacks as "illegal", and I have never said all Latinos are either. I have read our dialogue, and I see I provided articles for sources and my comments are well thought out and intelligent. Yours on the other hand are all over the place, you've resorted to name calling and accused me of saying things I didn't say. Tell me, in what comment did I describe blacks as "perverts"??
@JohnQRandom Your first rebuttal to me blamed ghetto kids, perverts: the context implying back people. Then you mentioned the immigration problems from the south, which I can only think of Mexicans. God it's like talking to a slow person, I provided all the stats you need, while you provided none. Talking to you is like talking to a slow person or a child, a complete retard who cannot comprehend that complex issues are a multi-dimensional construct. You can flatter yourself thinkking that
@JohnQRandom you are intelligent, but in the end, you cannot summarize your argument in one simple, coherent paragraph because your opinions lack statistics or evidence.
Your claims: "There are more minorities and immigrants in Canada than the US" = False "Canada is ranked 1st in both scientific and mathmatic literacy" = False "Illegal immigration accounts for aonly a small % of a country's problems" = Very False
@JohnQRandom I truly don't know where you get your stats from. Is it from the UN, World Bank, IMF? If it makes you go to sleep at night, fine. I've cited works of Milton Friedman, Jeffrey Sachs, the CIA. What you have is one article and senior dementia.
@JohnQRandom I repeatedly said you are a racist, even though you don't realize it. Because you describe Blacks and Latinos as illegals, ghetto kids, perverts. Throughout the entire conversation, you have only blamed immigrants for the performance disparity. I suggest you go and think long and hard about your life and read the entire transcript of our conversation. There is something extremely cynical and biased about your point of view, perhaps you are too old school, or lived in urban areas.
I suggest you get more experience before advising others on what you think they need to do. You might want to first by getting rid of your "high and mighty" complex and realize there is more to the big picture than what Rick Mercer says or what Molson beer ads portray. Second, invest in a passport and live abroad to get a better idea of the world around you. All of my comments are based off online sources and experience. Yours is off what you "think" you know.
@JohnQRandom HA I am a Korean-Canadian myself and seen the world way more than you did. Your comments are based on experience, I'm not doubting that, because its one messed up life you lead. I sound patronizing because you have the intelligence of a vegetable. I have never watched Rick Mercer or the nationalist crap you watch on CBC, as I don't follow herd-mentality. You on the other hand, lack real life experience, and never had intelligent discussions to shape and modify your thinking
Again, it seems you have someone else helping you write these comments. On one hand you come off as someone's ignorant, pseudo-intellectual mother, and on the other hand you say things like: "HA! I seen the world way more than you did." That sentence in itself proves your below standard literacy rate and the fact that you haven't been writing most of your own comments. Run and get your mother now so she can try to make a witty comeback.
@JohnQRandom So you are basically implying that I should just subscribe to linear prosody. You really think 2 separate people have the time to deal with a moron like you. I am a college student you dumb shit, maybe your own oedipus complex makes you think that my mother or some other being is writing this. Again, you're anecdotal thinking that me writing in semi-grammatical structure on the FRIGGIN internet somehow reflects Canadian literacy rate.
@JohnQRandom On one hand, I am flattered to know that you think someone else is writing my comments for me. Perhaps you are overwhelmed by the intellectual change that the only thing you could do is just rationalize and think that I'm being assisted by some other individual.
@JohnQRandom You probably have nothing better to do as an old man than to troll on internet using your fictitious facts and pissing other people off. I understand I'm not the only person you argued over with in this forum. Why don't you do the entire forum a favour and get your dog and pony act out of here? Thanks!
Way to go mom! Too bad your son couldn't come up with something so original. There is nothing intellectual about your comments, it's just that the mud slinging and name calling sounds even stupider. I've given you the name of two articles dear, not one. The CIA?? Nice to know we've got you speaking on their behalf as well. A college student who thinks there are more immigrants and minorities in Canada than the US. That's scary my friend.
@JohnQRandom I didn't know there is a word in the English language called 'stupider'. The CIA publishes annual handbooks, I got most of my stats from them. Canada does have more immigrants and minorities proportionally speaking, but everything in your mind is in terms of gross numbers. I never called myself an intellectual, I'm not even close. I find it humorous that you think that you should be taken seriously. Most likely, you never succeeded in anything in your life, and
"I didn't know there is a word in the English language called 'stupider'."
Again, showboating your ignorance for all to see. The comparative and superlative forms of stupid can be 'er' and 'est', or 'more' and 'most'. To give you a better understanding I'll use a real example. You are the 'stupidest' person I've exchanged comments with on youtube in quite some time. I could also say: You are the 'most stupid' person I've exchanged comments with on youtube in quite sometime.
@JohnQRandom must find satisfaction trolling on boards. See here's the deal....nothing you have said is true and you won't find any stats backing you up. You have now "two articles" backing you up (congratulations, the old boy knows how to find articles!). Seriously, you are embarrassing yourself, and can't even follow simple logic. Just because I cite CIA handbook because I like to know what I'm talking about, doesn't mean I represent them. Go back to your pathetic little life.
If you bothered to research the word 'stupid', you would know the comparative and superlative forms (in this case 'er' and 'est' or 'more' and most'.) The American Heritage Dictionary supports 'er' and 'est'. The fact that you didn't bother, and just assumed you knew what the hell you were talking about proves my point about how ignorant and pig-headed you really are (with grammar, test scores, and demographics etc.)
@JohnQRandom you use the phrase more stupid or most stupid, when you are using the world stupid you moron. It's what you learn in first grade. You see that I moved onto condescension, and not taking you seriously, because this is your mindset. Immigrants = cause all the problems, Using CIA handbook = Thinks he works for the CIA, one article = OMG I should blindly follow, Black people = ghetto kids, pervert. You can use ER and ERST in other words, but they do not apply to stupid
@JohnQRandom If you actually studied the English language, an applied it on actual paper or assignment you would know that "stupider" is a red flag. And nobody, I mean nobody, uses the word stupider, unless its in kindergarten. Type in "is stupider a word" on google. I can see I could never convince you that you are wrong, because you are a delusional psychopath you would try to find any excuse or make up any statistics to reinforce your sick, twisted views.
I googled it long ago, both variants are acceptable. The English book I use in my classroom also has both variants (er, est, and more, most) listed. The book is called: "Oxford Practice Grammar", by John Eastwood. Other words that also have both variants include: "narrow", "clever", "pleasant", "simple", gentle" etc. Please educate yourself my friend. I don't know why you keep typing the word "pervert" in some of your comments. I never refered to blacks as such.
@JohnQRandom Oh I don't think you went to school, maybe I should use the word funner, retarder, giganter, just because the rules apply. You mentioned the word pervert on your first reply you moron. Talking to you is like talking to a religious fanatic, they can't back any of their shit of with proof, backtracks, fabricates more crap as defense, and never willing to admit that they are wrong. The ban on the word 'stupider' is taught in English 101, you are NEVER allowed to use it in a paper.
You're making yet another mistake and confusing the word pervert, with "poverty", which I claimed was the primary reason behind drop out rates and low test scores in poor communities. As far as comparatives and superlatives, if you are taught in Canada that you may not use the word "stupider", then I'm guessing not being allowed to use it is a rule specific to your country, similar to the spelling of certain words. I always teach my students both variants are fine (because they are.)
@JohnQRandom When you said povert, in the context of crime, it is easy to understand it as pervert. If you check my records, I have never used my youtube account until how retarded I found your comments. You don't use the word stupider period, it is the unwritten rule, even in America. I'm flattered that you think I'm on my computer 24/7 paying attention to you, but any email gets forwarded to my blackberry. I think my job is done here. Any reasonable person would easily conclude
this makes me feel so much better after watching too many of those right wing propagandized videos about our healthcare. Welcome Americans! get to know us, we will make you feel like family.

TheMattswish 2 months ago
@beaum1cah each province is different. But in ontario I pay 13 percent sales tax. As for income tax it depends on how much you make. 20-29 percent depending on your salary. If you make 100k or more that percentage would be much higher. But remember almost everything is covered. By the time you pay your deductible, health insurance, AND taxes in the US it'd cost way more than that percentage we pay here if you do the math.

Get going! So bad in Canada, butI want a free ride!
ralphyization 7 months ago
@ralphyization PRECISELY. This is why I don't want these fucking liberals to stay in the US (no offense to Canadian people). These morons just don't get it. There's NO free insurance in Canada. Canadian taxpayers work hard and get TAXED to support the system. Yet some morons in the US really believe that the system in Canada is just free. How many Canadian taxpayers are flattered by that? I hope that more of these morons will move to Canada and leave the US alone. God bless Canada.
ttiiyy 7 months ago
@ttiiyy No, it ISN'T free, BUT, it's equal. It's not perfect, of course. But the basics ARE equal. Yes, we DO get taxed a little more. Some things you Do have to pay for. Example: private room vs. 3 or 4 bed room in hosp. , removable cast, vs. plaster one. I guess, what bothers me the most, is when someone is ONLY here for the health care. No offense, but I whole heartedly agree with universal access to health care. I've never heard anyone I know, say otherwise! It's a "given"!
ralphyization 7 months ago
@ralphyization I will support the state-run insurance system in the US ONLY when all Americans can agree to contribute to the system. I have no sympathy for LAZE PIGS that just want other people to pay for their healthcare benefits.
They deserve to stay in Canada, not a country like the US.
ttiiyy 7 months ago
@ralphyization Canada is a bit more socialistic than the US. This is something that many Canadians will agree on. Many Canadians have been bragging too much about the Canadian healthcare system, so, naturally, many poor Americans just move to Canada to exploit that system. I really hope that they will never come back to the US.
The state-run healthcare system will soon COLLAPSe if freeloaders never pay to help support the system.

it would be very difficult for the american system to switch to non profit as it would put alot of drug companies out of business i think. everyone recieves the same benefits in canada and in return we pay a small premium (approx 50.00 per month) for a single person. granted our taxes are higher but when im ill i have peace of mind knowing i will not be refused treatment under any circumstances and will recieve the same level of care as i would in the USA.
ogopogo5050 8 months ago 18
@ogopogo5050 Good point. I wish the US could be like that. But the problem is that some freeloaders in the US are socialists. Instead of working full time, they want to live on the financial aid and pay no taxes. Their idea of a "free" healthcare system is just driving me crazy.
They don't get it. Canada has no free healthcare system. All Americans need to be willing to contribute to the system or it won't last long.
ttiiyy 7 months ago
@ogopogo5050 I lie in Ontario, and I don't pay a premium. It's covered. End of story.,If you're resident, you are covered. Whether on welfare, workng poor, or insured through your employer. No premiums paid. In my own situation, my husband and I have "extra" coverge through our employers. But NOT for one second, do I resent destitute people's coverage!! Everyone should be entitled to see a doctor! AND get treatment.
ralphyization 7 months ago 4
@ogopogo5050 The health system in the US is a glaring example of how US politicians work hand in hand with corporations. With the US spending huge amounts of money on healthcare, the real question is, where is the money going? Its going to the insurances companies, the drug companies and anyone else who has essentially bribed one of the many easily bribable US potliticians. THATS why universal health care will never work, becasue the $ is more important to US politicians than the people.

No, you would rather look into PISA scores, ignore other factors, and from there conclude that 15 year olds are what make up an entire population. You were saying something about being retarded?
JohnQRandom 1 year ago
you know whats retared, people bitching about nothing. USA, CANADA. whatever. the hardest part of my day is waking up. i have the opportunity as everyone else. if i wanted the american dream where its everyone for themselves then i move to USA. if i want to play it safe where everyone is more equal i move to canada. i make over double what my american counterpart would make doing the same work, however the cost of living is more in canada. its in Canada's favor to have a weaker than USA.
dano132454 9 months ago
@dano132454
You definietly won't make double in Canada doing the same work, not to mention in addition to the cost of living you're taxed much more. In any case, I'm sure living in both countries has its perks, although I'm chosing to stay abroad because both countries have horrible women.
JohnQRandom 9 months ago
cost of living is more in canada. some jobs you do. i make 31/hr operatering excavator. in the USA, your lucky to get 12/hr, same with crane operators.

Dems are working on it!
VOTE DEMOCRAT 2012!
demmmmm1 1 year ago
The reason Canada has free health care is because they are 30 million people who are the largest trading partner with the the biggest economy in the world. I assure you that 30 million Canadians profit much more being the partner of the US than 300 million Americans profit by being partners with Canada. And before naive Canadians even say it, yes, the US has its own resources (oil, lumber, etc.) but burns yours to save our own, and to keep dollars exchanging between us. You're quite welcome.
JohnQRandom 1 year ago

JohnQRandom 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom most of the u.s. is by the eastern shore the middle is kinda empty, just like Canadians live in the southern part of Canada. To under stand this you must look at the history and geography of the country. To end in Canada we know we are better not for are health care but for are education that is third best in the world and the U.S. is 34th.
ikeones 1 year ago
@ikeones
JohnQRandom 1 year ago
To test how ignorant you are personally, ask yourself how many states make up Mexico, who the current leader is and when Mexico gained independence. Then ask your family, see if they know (they won't). Better yet take a digital camera and approach Canadians in your neighborhood and ask them a series of questions concerning basic mathmatics, science, geography, history and current events. You'll be surprised how little Canadians know. Sorry, but reality is paints a different picture than myth.
JohnQRandom 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom bla bla bla bla look up the world education rankings from the OECD for 2010 if you can take your moms dick out of your mouth for that long. And it's mathematics not mathmatics and you say your a school teacher lmfao
ikeones 1 year ago
If you're calling someone out on typos you know you're getting desperate dear. In any case, Canada does not rank "3rd" in the world in terms of education over all. OECD statistics not only vary from year to year, but are also (in many cases) extremely close. Literacy rates in Canada for example are below world standards, but are off set by non-native speakers of English living there, just as they are in the US (along with ghettos). Many things factor into it, I suggest you do more research.
JohnQRandom 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom Actually, Canadians have the highest literacy standards in the Western World, sans Finland. So I don't know what you are talking about. I think you are talking out of anecdotal evidence, not actual statistics wise. Canada is also 1st in the anglosphere in scientific literacy, and 2nd in mathematic literacy. Unlike you, I can back my sources up, type up PISA scores on google and open the nytimes link for the statistics.
N20TO 1 year ago
Canada does not have the highest literacy rates next to Finland. Google the article: "Canada's literacy rates below world standards." It's an article from Canada(dot)com and paints a rather dim future if thinks don't change. PISA scores do not mean that the entire nation is literate in that particular subject. The tests are taken by 15 year olds, and the reason the US ranks low is because of ghettos and povert bring the average down. 2009 had Canada ranked at 10 and 8 in math and science.
JohnQRandom 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom I'm not sure if you studied statistics at all in college. Ghettos and perverts bringing US down? You know at maximum, those demographics account for 10%. There is no way that they can have such an effect in US educational performance statistically speaking. I'm not disputing that Canada ranked 10 and 8 in math and science, the entire Western world is lagging behind. But put that into context, Canada is still doing better than almost all of the western world.
N20TO 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom Don't base your entire argument about the Canadian educational system based on one article. If you find one article painting a bleak picture, I could easily find another article to the contrary. I don't care what anecdotal evidence you can find; policies and opinions should be based on statistical information. PISA scores portrays the best information because its a large scale study, and it reflects the future. Even famed economists like Jeff Sachs cites it.
N20TO 1 year ago
50% of black America doesn't graduate high school, and even a higher percentage is funtionally illiterate, not to mention we a tens of millions of illegal Mexicans migrants who enrol their children in American schools. Canadians have only 32 million people, all of your major cities within 100 miles of our border, the largest trading partner with the biggest economy in the world, and a massive Asian immigrant population to help your "stats" in education. You don't have the social problems we do.
JohnQRandom 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom Even if I was a racist sob like you, and pretended that immigrants and minorities were the problem, here are some fact. Black men constitute 5% of America, even if they were all in jail and illiterate, they cannot be accounted for massive decline in education in America. Second of all, America is around 75% white, while Canada is around 60-65%, lets say these were all natives. Canada's literacy would be affected more by immigrants, including the 'Asian migrants'
N20TO 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom you are talking everything about gross numbers, which is ridiculous. Literacy rates and education are based on the relative proportion of the educated population. Canada has more minorities and immigrants than in America and frankly, they don't all come with built-in English education, so don't give me some bull crap blaming America's woes on minorities and here is white Canada not affected by all the 'problems' they cause. Frankly, you've been watching too much Fox News.
N20TO 1 year ago
@N20TO
If you honestly think that Canada has more minorities and immigrants than the US then this conversation is over. You have proven your ignorance as it sounds like you don't even know the population of either nation. I have taught English in 5 different countries over the past ten years (currently South Korea) and I can assure you i don't get my news from FOX news.
JohnQRandom 1 year ago
Cont.
Good luck.
JohnQRandom 1 year ago
PS
The black population in the US alone is roughly 40 million, which in itself is higher than all of Canada. Mass illegal immigration, poverty, ghettos and political correctness etc. is destroying America's social welfare, education system, and political system. 50% of the babies in the US are minorities, and even the most liberal of Europeans are waking up to this reality exisiting in their own nations. I don't hate people for their color, but a trade deficit is the least of America's woes.
JohnQRandom 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom Again, I never seen you blame anyone else but the minorities, so you pretty much are a racist, and yeah I am calling your bluff. Canada has about the same minorities proportionally than America, period. 40 million blacks don't mean much, when they compose 12% of the US population. Illegal immigration is tragic, but 'pure' whites still compose 63% of the population, with mixed whites its almost 80%-this is strictly coming from US Census Bureau not my own observations.
N20TO 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom Now for Canada, according to CIA handbook, about 66% of Canadians are white. We don't have large black population as America, but it is extremely diversified, I can attest to this because I'm from Toronto. Most European nations are having problems with Islamic immigrants and assimilation, to which we can both agree its a problem. But the troubling fact of matter is, every one of your arguments revolve around immigrants, which it is a problem, I am a conservative myself
N20TO 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom Problem with immigration only accounts for small portion of the a countries problem, you are basically scapegoating them for major policy failures. To the original point of education, I'm assuming you lived in rather urban areas where there are a lot of visible minorities, and some of the attitudes are troubling, no doubt. But white-majority states like Kansas, Nebraska, West Virginia, and Arkansas has some of the lowest performance scores--it is a systematic problem, not immigrants
N20TO 1 year ago
@N20TO
I am not scapegoating at all.
JohnQRandom 1 year ago
Cont.
JohnQRandom 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom Now I'm convinced that you are mentally retarded. Your bias is imcomprehensible. You first chided Canada's literacy rate, which I confounded you. Then you moved on to how better America is, and blamed everything on the migrant population. And now you are making up some bullshit facts about Canada to make you sleep better at night. Let me tell you a fact, Canada has 9 times research personnel per capita than America. Again, you move onto how we have better immigrants-
N20TO 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom You have more Asian immigrants in America than in Canada you dumbshit. If you walked in streets of Toronto, you would see high number of Somalian and other African population. Canada is blinded by jingoist crap? Go look in the mirror, Americans like yourself are blinded and are ignorant of the fact that the rest of the world is catching up. America's capitalist economy has produced firms like lockheed, boeing, etc, and they are leaders in innovation.
N20TO 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom So I'm not disputing that US is leader in technology, but everything you said to me has no stats or FACTS backing them up and its just your observation. Canada performs well (contrary to your initial statements) because the education system manages to teach immigrants and natives thoroughly. And perhaps, we don't have complete retards like you teaching our kids. America has some of the best teachers and best education facilities, but it is only available to the privileged few.
N20TO 1 year ago
@N20TO
Also, the US is not the leader in technology and do not produce anywhere near as many engineers as China does every year.
JohnQRandom 1 year ago

N20TO 1 year ago
@N20TO
Your comments now hold no water whatsoever.
JohnQRandom 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom changing the topic eh, because you are losing all of your argument. I apologize if I offended your personal life, you can clearly tell that I get passionately aggravated if someone mischaracterize Canada without any facts (although if it is legit, I would welcome a debate). But I'm not sorry about how I defended Canadian educational system, it was clear that you were operating under false pretenses (and you know this).
N20TO 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom Please stop embarrassing yourself. Even Milton Friedman, the most revered conservative economist in American history, said that American education is failing due to the 'system' set up by the government. What happened to Canada's below-average education that suddenly became better education due to immigration and less people? As I said, even in the northern states, like West Virginia and Nebraska, are plague with low marks and teenage pregnancy, is that due to minorities?
N20TO 1 year ago
@N20TO
I didn't say it's all minorities are at fault, I simply said that it really has an impact on statistics. And of course there is a range among white students as well, just as there are areas in Canada that also perform much lower than others, like any other nation in the world. I've done my own research, I provided an excellent article about test scores in the states. What is it with you and Nebraska? Are the kids in rural Saskatchewan leading the way?
JohnQRandom 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom I'm not singling out Nebraska, I just needed examples to demonstrate that even homogeneous white states are having problems with education. And for the record, you did say minorities at fault, check the transcript. You never once mentioned alarming rate of drug usage, teenage frequency, single-parent households, low funding for education, lack of good teachers, etc. Your primary argument was predicated on massive social problems caused by immigration.
N20TO 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom FYI, I have nothing against rural areas, I think they are under-represented and urbanites like Torontonians and New Yorkers are too often attention-whores. Canadian provinces does not show the spread like you see in American states, you don't see an alarming drop if you compare Ontario to Saskatchewan, than you see with Massachusetts with West Virginia.
N20TO 1 year ago
What are you talking about?? I never mischaracterized Canada, you can google the article concerning Canada's literacy rate. It's an article posted on canada(dot)com. My best bet is that non-native speakers of English contribute a great deal to the problem. Does it mean I hate immigrants in Canada? No. Does it mean the only ones to blame are immigrants? No. Also, I have worked ifor the Milwaukee public school system (the ghetto). Poverty, crime and drop out rates are key factors.
JohnQRandom 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom again, I said it from the beginning. You cannot base you entire argument on one article, because it is mostly anecdotal I can find another article countering. You have to based your argument on facts, I don't know what else to say. I've been feeding you all these statistical information and nothing is getting through you. Everything is relative, and Canada literacy rating is literally world class according to all measures, whether it is CIA, World Bank, or PISA.
N20TO 1 year ago
Sorry guy, it sounds like you simply want to believe something based on how it makes you feel. I have never described blacks as "illegal", and I have never said all Latinos are either. I have read our dialogue, and I see I provided articles for sources and my comments are well thought out and intelligent. Yours on the other hand are all over the place, you've resorted to name calling and accused me of saying things I didn't say. Tell me, in what comment did I describe blacks as "perverts"??
JohnQRandom 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom Your first rebuttal to me blamed ghetto kids, perverts: the context implying back people. Then you mentioned the immigration problems from the south, which I can only think of Mexicans. God it's like talking to a slow person, I provided all the stats you need, while you provided none. Talking to you is like talking to a slow person or a child, a complete retard who cannot comprehend that complex issues are a multi-dimensional construct. You can flatter yourself thinkking that
N20TO 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom you are intelligent, but in the end, you cannot summarize your argument in one simple, coherent paragraph because your opinions lack statistics or evidence.
N20TO 1 year ago
@N20TO
Okay, one more time.
Google: "Canada's literacy below world standards"
Google: "The amazing truth about PISA scores"
Your claims: "There are more minorities and immigrants in Canada than the US" = False "Canada is ranked 1st in both scientific and mathmatic literacy" = False "Illegal immigration accounts for aonly a small % of a country's problems" = Very False
You've lost, time to move on.
JohnQRandom 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom I truly don't know where you get your stats from. Is it from the UN, World Bank, IMF? If it makes you go to sleep at night, fine. I've cited works of Milton Friedman, Jeffrey Sachs, the CIA. What you have is one article and senior dementia.
N20TO 1 year ago

Adios muchacho.

N20TO 1 year ago
@N20TO
Again, it seems you have someone else helping you write these comments.
JohnQRandom 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom So you are basically implying that I should just subscribe to linear prosody. You really think 2 separate people have the time to deal with a moron like you. I am a college student you dumb shit, maybe your own oedipus complex makes you think that my mother or some other being is writing this. Again, you're anecdotal thinking that me writing in semi-grammatical structure on the FRIGGIN internet somehow reflects Canadian literacy rate.

Just because I cite CIA handbook because I like to know what I'm talking about, doesn't mean I represent them. Go back to your pathetic little life.

@N20TO
If you bothered to research the word 'stupid', you would know the comparative and superlative forms (in this case 'er' and 'est' or 'more' and most'.) The American Heritage Dictionary supports 'er' and 'est'. The fact that you didn't bother, and just assumed you knew what the hell you were talking about proves my point about how ignorant and pig-headed you really are (with grammar, test scores, and demographics etc.)
Think you got your ass kicked enough yet?

@JohnQRandom If you actually studied the English language, an applied it on actual paper or assignment you would know that "stupider" is a red flag. And nobody, I mean nobody, uses the word stupider, unless its in kindergarten. Type in "is stupider a word" on google. I can see I could never convince you that you are wrong, because you are a delusional psychopath you would try to find any excuse or make up any statistics to reinforce your sick, twisted views.
N20TO 1 year ago
I googled it long ago, both variants are acceptable. The English book I use in my classroom also has both variants (er, est, and more, most) listed. The book is called: "Oxford Practice Grammar", by John Eastwood. Other words that also have both variants include: "narrow", "clever", "pleasant", "simple", gentle" etc. Please educate yourself my friend. I don't know why you keep typing the word "pervert" in some of your comments. I never refered to blacks as such.
NEXT CANADIAN PLEASE.
JohnQRandom 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom Oh I don't think you went to school, maybe I should use the word funner, retarder, giganter, just because the rules apply. You mentioned the word pervert on your first reply you moron. Talking to you is like talking to a religious fanatic, they can't back any of their shit of with proof, backtracks, fabricates more crap as defense, and never willing to admit that they are wrong. The ban on the word 'stupider' is taught in English 101, you are NEVER allowed to use it in a paper.
N20TO 1 year ago
@N20TO
You're making yet another mistake and confusing the word pervert, with "poverty", which I claimed was the primary reason behind drop out rates and low test scores in poor communities. As far as comparatives and superlatives, if you are taught in Canada that you may not use the word "stupider", then I'm guessing not being allowed to use it is a rule specific to your country, similar to the spelling of certain words. I always teach my students both variants are fine (because they are.)
JohnQRandom 1 year ago
@JohnQRandom When you said povert, in the context of crime, it is easy to understand it as pervert. If you check my records, I have never used my youtube account until how retarded I found your comments. You don't use the word stupider period, it is the unwritten rule, even in America. I'm flattered that you think I'm on my computer 24/7 paying attention to you, but any email gets forwarded to my blackberry. I think my job is done here. Any reasonable person would easily conclude
