Wonderful video. I put it on my online bigfoot magazine, Bigfoot Ballyhoo. I hope you don't mind. If you do just tell me and I'll take it off. Thank you, Linda Newton-Perry Today is Nov. 27, 2011
How I wish I could see this view! I'm in the same situation as karelyanie but unfortunately, I'm a student and can only go through the winter break near the end of december.....
I've been dying ever since birth to touch and see the snow first hand like you did! Do you know if my chances are much less for the time I'm going? :(
Im planing a road trip from Miami FL to the Smoky mountain on this winter , mi biggest concern is the snow ! I REALLY WANT TO SEE SNOW , FULL WHITE WINTER !
How common is snow in the first week of January . are there any closed road in the park ?
@karelyanie January and February are your best bets for snow.
Some roads do close seasonally: Balsam Mountain Road, Clingmans Dome Road, Heintooga Ridge Road, Little Greenbrier, Parson Branch Road, Rich Mountain Road, Roaring Fork, Roundbottom/Straight Fork.
Other roads are subject to closure in the event of snow and ice as well, especially Newfound Gap Road, which crosses the park from Gatlinburg to Cherokee.
I went to the Smokies twice last year for the first time. Everyone around where I live goes there for vacation and I always refused to go because it seems like everyone went. Well I went and fell in love with the place. We went back two months after our first trip and it is just a great place. I loved Cherokee and Cataloochee too.
I'd say your chances are great. The higher elevations see a lot of snow even when downtown Gatlinburg is just wet or perhaps even dry. I went in April and walked trails along the motor trail and it was literally like hiking in a blizzard. Some roads might be closed but there are plenty still open that lead to higher elevations and lots of snow.
The National Weather Service says 30% chance of snow on Saturday, 20% chance on Sunday. That is the report for Gatlinburg. I do hope you get to see snow. Safe travels!
@yulilin3 hi did you get to do the trip ,,, did your husband see snow , could you send me some advise .... we are going in January and Im looking info also I never see snow either Im from Cuba

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! It was ever bit as cold as it looks that morning! But so worth it to see the cove covered in snow.
