It's probably less likely to happen nowadays, but it is still very possible. Religious upbringings might cause one to repress their feelings of attraction to the same sex, and maybe even marry for the reasons given by the gay husband near the end of the film. If I marry, this is one of the conversations I plan to have beforehand -- "Have you ever had these feelings, and did you explore them?" Because I have seen people go through this and it is horrible. I don't want to deal with it.
Very good documentary, although it would have been nice to see a more age-diverse group. I was able to understand how it would be like to be in the shoes of either the gay or straight spouse. Maybe the good news is that it IS a generational thing, and that the next gen won't feel the need to deny their true sexuality.

No I was thrown out on the streets at 17 and exiled from a catholic family. My real family has come together over the years and it took alot of work. My husband found out @ 62yrs that he is gay and it came down to supression as his reaction early on in developmental years, from the religious political and biological backrounds. His children love and accept him as well as his Xwife. It made us all stronger and I learned that some of the greatest blessings are behind the pain. Bless U & Family 2

Hmmm... Maybe this is the reason that gay people marry straight people. If it were "ok" with society, then we would have no reason to attempt to repress our true nature and certainly no reason to marry someone of the opposite sex.
I agree that it is wrong to marry someone of the opposite sex if you know that you are gay. However, a society that demonizes being gay and prevents people from marrying someone of the same sex needs to accept the obvious outcome that they have created.

Homosexuality is not unique to humans, it is quite normal in the animal kingdom. Again I will state the facts. There are no proven sciences that tell us homosexuality is unnatural infact there are studies to the contrary that show homosexuality is a normal part of nature. So far approximately 450+ species have been shown to have clear homosexual behaviors.

However, it is the heterosexual majority that has created the circumstances for these marriages to take place. When that majority accepts same-sex marriage and the natural existence of homosexuality in general, inter-sexuality marriage will likely only occur with both parties fully aware of the others sexuality.

It's probably less likely to happen nowadays, but it is still very possible. Religious upbringings might cause one to repress their feelings of attraction to the same sex, and maybe even marry for the reasons given by the gay husband near the end of the film. If I marry, this is one of the conversations I plan to have beforehand -- "Have you ever had these feelings, and did you explore them?" Because I have seen people go through this and it is horrible. I don't want to deal with it.

I had pressure to marry but i didn't, i travelled, you get any pressure from family to marry that's called conditional love, that means they will only give you love and approval on condition you do what they want to. Yes - they have known for 8 years. I am now moving into my own place, however with the blessing of wife and three children, as the only thing that works is to be our truth and to not worry about the prejudices and judgements of others - a big lesson for me that.

This seriously would not be a problem if society stopped making a big deal of being gay.
I am a gay guy and I would never marry a woman. But there's a lot of gay guys/women out there who are "convinced" by society that it is natural or holy to marry someone of the opposite sex.

It's not a " belief" it's more of an experience over the years and watching someone come out of their shell from years of threats directed at a young age. He is a happy and successful man and is loved by his family and friends too. Let me guess your religious and you believe not only being gay is wrong but your god is higher or more truthful or right. I have known I was gay since I was a kid and I am loved , accepted and happy. I think you've answered you own point you've known your sexual orientation and my anecdotal one which is essentially that if an individual knows they are gay which marry the opposite sex and further more why do many knowingly marry in religious institutions of the Abrahamic faiths? No I was thrown out on the streets at 17 and exiled from a catholic family. My real family has come together over the years and it took alot of work. My husband found out @ 62yrs that he is gay and it came down to supression as his reaction early on in developmental years, from the religious political and biological backrounds. His children love and accept him as well as his Xwife. It made us all stronger and I learned that some of the greatest blessings are behind the pain. Bless U & Family 2
