I don't understand how people really entertain the idea of GSP vs. Silva. Silva is WAY bigger then GSP. It really wouldn't be close to an even match up. Silva easily walks around at 210 and cuts down no problem to 185. GSP is 185 soaking wet and out of shape. He doesn't do anything to fight at 170. He's already 170 solid muscle. People who think this is a good match up know absolutely nothing. Now lets see Silva fight someone his own size. Silva vs. Jon Jones would be an epic match up.
@DAhonda247 GSP is a big welterweight,said himself he walks around at 188 to 190 and his cuts to 170 are not easy.He could either gain some muscle to move up or just do it Frankie Edgar style only and cut a few pounds to make 185 and fight at his natural weight.Edgar has made a mockery of people that are twice his size and weigh 20-25 lbs more than him by fight time.I believe GSP is athletic and intelligent enough to do the same,but I doubt he'll go for it.Jones vs Silva would be better anyway.

I agree he's athletic enough for sure to fight there and there would obviously be some really good match ups. I just don't think (IMO) that it would be an exciting fight Silva vs. GSP. There's still good fights that could happen. Sonnen rematch is my #1. Brian Stann vs. Silva would be a good fight as well IMO. Silva vs. Bispbing?? Never been a big fan but he was solid vs Chael.

@jayr2l2 I don't know if he'd "fuck him up". Silva does has insane defense, but, Jones is a beast man and he'll bring it with out backing down. And that kid is sharp. It would be interesting to see how Silva handles an offense that's unpredictable like his. I could honestly see it going both ways, but with Silva definitely having the experience advantage.

Anderson Silvas weakness is wrestling... GSP is a stud wrestler. GSP has good technical standup, but Silva is very unorthodox and from what I've seen hits like a Mack truck. The question isn't whether or not GSP can take Silva down, its whether or not GSP has the chin to take the shots Silvas going to be throwing.
Wow some of you guys have no idea what the UFC is all about. Silva is one of the best strikers ever but only lands 3.1 strikes per min while Gsp lands 3.8 strikes per min. Gsp is soo quick and strong so his gameplan would be to take down Silva and ground and pound him. Silva would'nt have the chance to strike GSP. Silva's chances of winning would be slim. Gsp is the best Pound for pound fighter in the world. Even Silva admited tha Bj and GSP are better than him.

I personally give GSP a great chance of beating Silva via repeated takedowns and controlling him on the ground ala Chael Sonnen minus getting submitted. Even if Silva knocks out GSP and destroys him, how is that any different than what Silva has been doing to everyone else? I say make the super fight! It would be the first true super, super fight in the UFC. There is no downside. A loss in MMA is not the same as a loss in boxing. MMA right now is the way boxing was back in the good old days.
Saint Pierre will lose against Silva as great as GSP is he will not match up well with Silva; he's bigger, faster and equal in skill. The fight that should be more interesting is Nick Diaz.... that will be very telling...
@ThePuertoRican8 I beg to differ. Chael Sonnen's wrestling is more like sheer power-driving in type. Georges St-Pierre throws a lot of strikes without power to just to get his opponents off balance and use leverage to take the opponents down. Anderson Silva's footwork and striking will be too much for St-Pierre. But hey, it's MMA, anything can happen, but i don't think so.
@KrnSniper01 Sonnen is also a lot bigger than St.Pierre is, and has a much larger board of wrestling achievements. GSP can't do much to a guy once he's on the ground. Guys are just scared of getting taken down to begin with. If you define wrestling as "deciding where the fight takes place" then GSP's wrestling is fantastic. In my humble opinion, that's not all there is to wrestling. Hitting the ground with GSP on top of you is a while different universe than having Chael on top.
@KrnSniper01 I haven't missed an event in about 2 years. I wouldn't go so far as to say I know more than anyone, I just try to see the whole picture before saying someone is good or bad at anything. The same thing happens with Jiu Jitsu. Demian maia's Jiu Jitsu is very good but personally I'd be much more afraid of a nick diaz\miguel torres\jimmy hettes\george sotiropoulos. They might not be -technically- "better", but they are much more dangerous on the mat, historically.

gsp could never beat silva just because he is to small and not as strong as silva. but gsp is more skillfull than silva. silva is big for 185, he is bigger than half the 205ers. size and strength does mean something now days. everyone knows enough skills that it makes size and strength the difference in the fight.

Siva has knocked out people in light heavy, middle, and welter! I never go by wishful thinking just facts, and since coming to the UFC Silva finishes his guys in brutal fashion. GSP is not stupid. He knows even in his greatest shape and had the perfect game plan it would be impossible to beat that monster.
Im one of GSP greatest fans but I dont think hes got a chance against Silva. Silvas a middle weight and went up to fight at light heavy. Beat the shit out of Forrest and looked like he was bored during the fight. In fact I wouldnt be shocked if this was Silvas easest fight.

GSP unlike Silva recently has not put guys away and finished fights strong. He comes with a game plan to win and dominate by being aggressive and controlling the fight but thats it. @b7r7u7c7e he tapped out hendo but wut is hendo compared to gsp? nothing. gsp on the ground is different from alot of those fighters on the ground. his submission defense is great as well as his own submissions. he has probably the best overall ground game in the sport. he also is very good at getting in shots that will hurt silva. silva's weakness is wrestling u just have to avoid submissions and anderson silva is not going to submit gsp who is probably better at submissions then him.

Silva had the Flu. Sonnen did some dirty shit as well. Silva was going to pull out of the fight , but refused. So he gassed way quicker. It wont happen a second time man. Silva will aim for his head and knock him out. Not to say that Chael didnt do a good job, he did a great job. But I dont think he will pull it off twice.

@davis311c A friend of mine think the same thing about GSP smashing Diaz with a similar type of gameplan like the one he used versus Koscheck. Could be, I would favor Diaz on the feet, but GSP does mix strikes and takedowns real well so you never really know, it could happen. Condit is a really dangerous, tough and talented fighter so could very well beat Diaz. Condit versus Koscheck in February will be interesting too.

Anderson Silvas weakness is wrestling... GSP is a stud wrestler. GSP has good technical standup, but Silva is very unorthodox and from what I've seen hits like a Mack truck. Wow some of you guys have no idea what the UFC is all about. Silva is one of the best strikers ever but only lands 3.1 strikes per min while Gsp lands 3.8 strikes per min. Gsp is soo quick and strong so his gameplan would be to take down Silva and ground and pound him. Silva would'nt have the chance to strike GSP. Silva's chances of winning would be slim. I personally give GSP a great chance of beating Silva via repeated takedowns and controlling him on the ground ala Chael Sonnen minus getting submitted. Even if Silva knocks out GSP and destroys him, how is that any different than what Silva has been doing to everyone else? I say make the super fight! Georges St-Pierre throws a lot of strikes without power to just to get his opponents off balance and use leverage to take the opponents down. Guys are just scared of getting taken down to begin with. If you define wrestling as "deciding where the fight takes place" then GSP's wrestling is fantastic. In my humble opinion, that's not all there is to wrestling. Hitting the ground with GSP on top of you is a while different universe than having Chael on top.

@alokkimbo no supporting anyone or supporting cheating. but would lean towards him winning. he looked damn good like he didn't lose a step vs stann, and that was ped free ( i assume). stann ain't silva, but he incorporated similar strategy that worked vs silva for 4.5 rounds the first time around. never know , anderson is anderson. he pulls some spectacular s__t out of nowhere. just want to see it happen.

Silva had the Flu. Sonnen did some dirty shit as well. Silva was going to pull out of the fight , but refused. So he gassed way quicker. It wont happen a second time man. Silva will aim for his head and knock him out. Not to say that Chael didnt do a good job, he did a great job. But I dont think he will pull it off twice.

@mmadigest I think Diaz or Condit have the best shot. And honestly I think Condit could beat Diaz! I really think GSP is going to smash Diaz with GnP or w/ a similiar Koscheck type of game plan. It is just my opinion but Diaz really pissed GSP off and GSP always fights best that way!

@davis311c A friend of mine think the same thing about GSP smashing Diaz with a similar type of gameplan like the one he used versus Koscheck. Could be, I would favor Diaz on the feet, but GSP does mix strikes and takedowns real well so you never really know, it could happen. Condit is a really dangerous, tough and talented fighter so could very well beat Diaz. Condit versus Koscheck in February will be interesting too.

@whitewarrior12 how big are you bud? 4 inchs is a big difference in any competative martial art, Silva is too big for GSP that's all it is. Even if GSP has better skills than him it would be unlikely that he would win.

He beat Dan Henderson who has fought both the Nogueira brothers (much bigger humans) GSP knows he could get bigger to fight these guys. What is he? 5'10? 5'11? Even Dana White says GSP's a BIG 170 lb guy.

@whitewarrior12 he is but Im asking you to go stand up to a guy thats 4 inches taller than you and about 40 pounds heavier. I've been boxing for like nearly 6 years and I am lankey as hell, Im 6'0 and 160. I usually have 3-4 inches of reach on everyone I box at my weight. Makes everything so simple, just jab evade, wait.... weave hook and the fight will end or I will out point them. When it comes to martial arts at that level the bigger man has the better chance even if the smaller guy is better

@TheVdog12 Condit wont finish GSP. GSP may not finish fights, but hes one of the most technical fighters in the UFC. And I highly doubt GSP is afraid of Silva.

I hope your not a betting man. If you think Diaz can beat GSP - I wouldnt be gambling anytime soon. Diaz is nothing compared to GSP. Diaz has lost to Sanchez, Paryisian, Sherk, and Joe Riggs. All of whom were tough as nails fighters in 2006 when he left the UFC. Then he went around the World fighting people that werent even challenges. Then he goes on air and says he is mad that he drives a Honda Civic and GSP drives a sportscar. He is a punk.

the fight won't happen, and it shouldn't, they are too far apart on physical terms, silva can fight at 205, whereas gsp is most suited to welterweight

Idk who would win. U could say look at sonnen fight and say gsp will win. Yet he couldn't Even finish Dan hardy who has the worst ground game. Silva is 6,2" gsp 5'10" and silva has so much reach on him. Who knows I am silva fan but I honestly can't say who would win.
