Some Jeep transfer cases do not have a "true" neutral, meaning that neutral disengages the transmission but leaves the front and rear drive shafts locked together.

If the front axle disconnect is working properly, tho, this isn't usually an issue.

Either way, these guys will never figure out the problem, lol.

It can not tow in N because it is in 4WD the T case has the front and rear locked together. For new Jeeps (If the Tcase is in N and the trani is in Park... it tows). (I do not know if the T case is in 2H and the trani is in N... if it tows).

The back wheels are locked up because they are mechanically connected to the front ones via props. Putting it in neutral won t work
