The only problem that Lucia Popp faced as a vocalist was in finding melodies that were (literally) worthy of her instrument. Her performance of In Trutina is undeniably definitive, but I far prefer her in more complex, dramatic music.

How superb! I love to watch Lucia sing because the joy she found in singing beautiful music is always written in her sweet face. Her life was too short but she did what she loved throughout it. In that sense, she was blessed.
