I prefer it much slower. Think about it. October is when Autumn really starts to take hold, and Autumn is when the world slows down. Maybe people don't, but it is natural for things to slow as the climate does. Also because of the way the song is written, I prefer to play it much more slowly. Just a suggestion, though.
After March, i also like this one. As all the other seasons, i can't remember i ever heard them but 2 nice seasons in one day, i've to be happy. I'm going to listen the rest of the year. Thank you for sharing
You play with so much passion. It is a treat hearing you play. I have played this piece myself. It brings me back to my years with my father. I just love this.
I really liked it, too--almost made me cry it was so soulfully played. :) And what do you know, my birthday is in October, too! (The 30th.) Happy birthday to you.
I just pulled out October - it doesn't look too bad but November looks challenging! December not too bad either - more of a waltz I think. I'll look forward to your November post. Happy Birthday, by the way!
I have been a lover of his music ever since I was given Christmas as a young boy. Your playing has a lot of soul. Your sensitivity comes right through the piece. Very moving Mary.
Hi Lin! Thanks for writing something. I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's kinda fun to be able to let friends and family see what I spend all my time doing.
It may lack the fireworks that your other Tchaikovsky pieces had, but I was more moved by this one than the others that preceded it. I'm not saying the others were bad. They are all good. I just like this one more. It is the Autumn-ish piece I expected: slow, sad and introspective.
I really like this one, too. Plus, because it is slower I didn't have to work nearly as hard--which was quite a relief after several months of fast and furious. I can't believe I'm almost finished. I just started November today....it's another speedy one. I have my work cutout for me.
Thanks Sally...Sorry you couldn't hear the soft bits...I can't really move the camera closer to the piano because then my fortes get really distorted....So much for dynamic contrast.
Where is Lucy the beagle, who appeared in September? I guess she prefers the hunt after all. I was all set to give you a 5 Milk-Bone rating! O well, I guess you'll just have to settle for 5 stars for a beautifully melancholy month.
Ha-ha! I can see you must like Lucy. That's funny. Thanks for listening....You can't see them, but my cats are sleeping behind me as I play. I guess this music makes everyone sleepy....And you're correct, Lucy does love the hunt.
very beautiful

Thanks. Yes, tempo preferences are a personal thing and musicians can never agree--but that is life.

Hi Dave. Thanks for listening. Do you have snow on the East Coast?

Happy Birthday! =D
You did wonderful on the song ^^
If I can't do a 50 (or so) measure sonatina in a month, I don't think I could do that entire piece, lol
You have skillage.
Thanks for letting me borrow Eclipse, by the way.

Amy--yes, I have skillage, but keep in mind that I've been developing said skillage for 29 years! You've only just started with the piano.
Enjoy the book.

November IS challenging--at least at this point.
October isn't too hard to play the notes and rhythm--the trickiest thing is the voicing of the melodic lines.
MaryRuth72 3 years ago
Hi Mary,
This was your best so far - beautiful. Your emotions are felt as you play. Thank you for posting it. Look forward to November.

Dear Mary, Very touching. I almost teared up towards the 3 min. mark. Soft parts hard to hear, can you put the mic closer?
