  • Sir and Ma'am. I hope the pride you feel for your daughter's dedication and sacrifice for her country ease some of the pain from your hearts. She, like others, wrote a blank check, offering her life, to give protection and care of "her" soldiers and "her" country. I am so, so sorry for your loss. The world, like you, will miss this wonderful young lady.

  • I'm so very sorry for the loss of your beautiful, precious, brave daughter.  I lost my son Spc Brian Alex Vaughn in Ramadi, Iraq on 6-21-05. He was also a combat medic. they are the best.

  • No, her original unit was the 79th MP CO of Rochester, MN, but she was cross-leveled to the 303rd MP CO out of Jackson, MI when she deployed to Iraq.

  • I just came across Rachael's story this morning. I'm going in October 21, 2009 as 68W. Rachael sat with me this morning and reminded me of what that meant. My only prayer is that I will be even half the soldier she was. God Bless her family and Thank you for your sacrifice.

    I thought that females weren't allowed to be in combat areas; even though there isn't much difference between male and female soldiers, they bouth serve with dignity.
