  • This Orrery is a work of art to be preserved in the museum of science and should be followed by a Nobel Prize. Immediately after should be put into industrial production and ognistituto purchased from the school. Pay close attention if it occurs in the hands of the Chinese, the copy and start marketing it in no time at all. BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO

  • fantastic!!!!!!

  • if you want to see this Orrery in action then please search for Sanderson Orrery.

  • This is wondrous, you must post a video of this thing working. As for Jupiter and 63 moons, I hope I see that model before I die!

  • Very nice job. Have you considered having the plans available for a fee? Also could you upload a video with it operating?

Amazing job, the best Orrery I have seen

    ...good job

  • @rms16006 Hi. Thank you very much for your comments. I do not have a video of the Orrery in operation. At the time that I posted the 'video' I only had an old camera that was not Youtube compatible. Not sure about selling the plans. I have redesigned the planet arms to enable me to show more moons. My goal is to make an Orrery showing Jupiter with its 63 orbiting moons. and pro rata for the other planets. May drive me totally insane but it will be fun.!!!!

  • The complex models of the solar system are always objects of wonder.... pity I couldn't make one as awesome as that. :D

  • Thank you for your comment. The materials for the Orrery did not cost very much , just a few pounds for the brass bar to make the gears and frame work. I already had a 'scrap' round brass plate for the base .I kept the cost down by cutting all the gears myself.

  • How much did this cost you to build roughly? It's wonderful. I've just started to plan building an Orrery for my office ceiling. Not even very far into the planning stages yet though.

  • Very impressive!

Is this your own design, or a reproduction of a historical design? Are you willing to share the design detail (wheel counts in particular!) of this or the other one ?

  • @windsoruk

Hi Winsouk. Thank you for your comment. my apologies for taking so long to reply.

Both of the Orreries on Youtube are my own design and took me to the point of insanity not just working out the geartrains but making all the geartrains come together at the same place. I would like to keep the geartrains to myself for the moment, but who knows!!
