Instinct, care for another, math, building, fighting, strength and intelligence are different in men and women. This question is so annoying. None of the the largest (by population) majority Christian or atheist nations have been led by women yet both of the largest (by far) "Muslim nations" (as he put it) have been led by women. Why do so many westerners act like Muslims have a problem with female leadership?

you are right rdiofreeurope, the question should be would people in the US take a woman president seriously! we are one of the only countrys who have not been ran by female leaders, such as Pakistan's Benazir Bhutto, Queen Rania of Jordan, India's Indira Gandhi, England's Margaret Thatcher, Bangladesh's Khaleda Zia, and also Hasina Wajed, Georgia's Nino Burdzhanadze, Turkey's Tansu Çiller, China's Song Qingling ... there have already been plenty of prominent women leading nations.

Even though I don't like McCain, one could look on the bright that if he wins, having us used to the idea of having a woman in a leadership role in the white house should really help. And considering the age of McCain, it might not matter whether Americans are ready or not...

I am very aware of the USA's shortcomings. I'm married to a very talented woman fighting for equality in a very male dominated provincial profession. I'm a house-husband, as a matter of fact. My point was, would Muslim men, given their prediliction for assuming women were subservient to them, in general, be willing to interact with a non-Muslim woman leader? I have my doubts. I would rather Hillary was nominated over Obama; she's battle hardened, he's an unknown with little record to go by

I get your point even though I think it has little chance to be a problem because other western countries already had a woman as president and to my knowledge, neither Margaret Thatcher nor Angela Markel ever experienced such kind of difficulty when dealing with a Muslim country.
