It may look like he's shaking the trumpet, but he's not trying to actually shake it himself. He's doing something called lip trills which is where you play and the bend the pitch of the note by pushing your tongue to the roof of your mouth and slurring a little with your lips, which can cause the horn to shake just from the natural movement of your lips.

More=Volume Faster=range Just have control over it. There are a bunch of books and techniques to practice to practice this. Just do basic "Irons" (lip slurs between two notes or more with same valve combo and different levels of toungue and air)

there's no way you can tell the rim size from that distance and angle. its most likely a bach but probably something more along the lines of a 3D or 3E judging by how quickly the volume decreased as he played the double C compared to the Eb before it. maybe maynard could do that on a 3C...
