I just remembered this again after my wife bought a spinning wheel. Beautiful song. The original version is so much better than the more modern interpretations, but that's usually the case with everything.
This beautiful song takes me back 60 yrs - to my home and my parents playing this and mam humming the tune ... Oh the memories '' wonderful to be able to hear this again ..
Fabulous to hear once again over fifty years since I last heard her singing this lovely folk song. The Irish are so musical thank god for their gift of music to the rest of the world.
My mum use to sing me to sleep every night with this song as did her mother to her. Never even thought before about it being an actual song! i am going to buy Delia Murphy for her mothers day
I was thinking of my mother today, who loved this song and had this record. It brought back many memories and a tear to the eye. Thanks for posting this.
at last after 50 odd years i have herd it again. i used to hear this in the late 40's. i was about 6 then and it stuck in my head all this time .i thought it was kathline ferrier that sang it and tried to find her record of it. thanks for posting this song it gives me great pleasure to hear it again after all this time
Yep if not longer. I love it. Was My Mother's favourite. I think the other side was called Three lovely ladies from Banyon (not sure how you spell that) Going to search now. Cheers
Thank you so much for posting this recording. I love this song and always feel there is more than just a little tacit approval coming from dear old grandmother Delias voice is just wonderful.
