THIS is the Tour de France : 2 great riders, spectators everywhere, cars needing to use their horn to find their way and the fog creating that very particular ambient !
@Anthony3g It's not his fault. It's Contador's fault for being caught using a banned substance. I know some will argue about the way it was handled and the amount of clebunterol that was found in his system, but it was found, and it doesn't matter how much was in his system, he had a banned drug in his body and was rightfully dq'd, athough i wish they didn't let him race while they waited for the verdict and since they did that, they should at least start the ban now for 2 years!
@davd1986 I understand your point of view and its justified. Im merely stating that I dont think Andy would want to have a TDF handed to him this way. I also dont believe that this year he will be too happy because one of his biggest competitors wont be there in AC because of the ban. Andy seems like the type of person who wants to not only compete against the best, but also beat the best even if they are cheating, which even he said he doesnt believe AC is guilty.
@Anthony3g i understand and I agree! I think he would have much rather win it out on the road than having the title handed to him after a doping verdict a year or two later.
He was already in Yellow and the fact that he didn't let Andy take it away from him is good enough reason to give away the stage win. Plus he's a plain nice guy. We should give him credit for that.
@MrGrunz: Don't forget Contador lost 1:13 on the cobblestones stage last year in the tour which could largely be explained by bad luck. 20 sec due to a flat tire at the end and the other 53 seconds because there was a gap in the peloton after the fall of F. Schleck that was never closed.
The 39 sec of the chain incident were important but they were not the only factor in that Tour.
@Kboman this commentator is Laurent Fignon, a great french cyclist who won 2 tour de france, he had a cancer(cause of his voice), he died last year because of this cancer.
@Karimastik69 May he rest in peace. I wasn't questioning his quality as a rider nor as a person. I was simply stating that i find his voice annoying. I didn't mean to insult or offend anybody, it is just my opinion. I lost quite a bit of family to cancer myself, it is the worst suffering i can imagine for both oneself, family and friends.
@MrGrunz Say whaaaaat? Contador has 6 GT, schleck has 0. Contador has a LOT more wins and has accomplished a lot more than schleck in his career, it wasn't by the chain incident that contador won. He won because HE IS THE BEST
it makes no sense, that contador deserved the victory because he won more races in the past. In fact contador won this tour by 39 seconds and Schleck lost exactly 39 seconds on the stage Schleck dropped his chain.
They were equal that year, luck determined the winner. Both deserved the victory, contador was the one with more luck in the end ;)
@MrGrunz I'm not saying that he deserved to win due to his past results. But that was a way to show thas contador his a better cyclist than andy that was the reason why he finished with less time. The chain had influence in the race, but that wasn't the only reason why andy lost. To say that is underestimating contador's value
Shiiit ! Alberto Contador is the only winner of the Tour de France 2010 !
