  • how were they not seeing that!! I was halfway to the ground when they turned on the sirens! jeez!

  • Shot live haha. as appose to?

  • why does the siren turn off even though the tornado is still on the ground

  • sirens only go off around here if there are straightline winds or a funnel/tornado spotted, and i live 20 mins from where this video was taken so i'm not surprised with the timing on the sirens.

  • At about 3:35 into the clip, the droning of the two sirens begin to harmonize at different pitches...quite beautiful. Excellent footage also!

  • Adrenaline :)

  • I hope, I would be able to see a tornado anytime.. :)

  • i never seen this before ._. maybe because i live in North East area of USA :\

  • I live somewhere near Wilmar. If you've been to St. Cloud. I live out by there.

  • I wish this thing could come through my city :'(

  • That's a pretty big and scary looking tornado.

  • Tornados are sooo damn scary, even if it wasnt as

close to me I'd still be freaking out.

  • I love to watch tornado's form. Its so fascinating. Especially ones that form even on a clear day. I don't like how they cause destruction and kill people. Great video :-)

  • The line rider guy doesn't want to ride THAT...

  • There Soundindg "ALL CLEAR!" it's safe to come out and play!

  • Sirens Sounded A little Late Guys!!

  • LOL at the siren :)

  • @westkap100 The siren is creepy!

  • DA BeST WAY TO MEET A nEIBORHOOd

  • i think i would freak out if i saw that scary thing L0L =O

  • Well I guess thats one new way to meet people that live next to you is to go out and watch the Torando... LOL

  • That's why my home is made of bricks.

  • scary shit man.

  • OMG!!!

  • didn't the siren make it much more scary???

i know it is horrible but i'd do everything to see a tornado in real life!! you can bet on that .mate :D

  • My cousins and aunt/uncle live there! They said it was horrible!

  • i was there holy shit

  • I know this may sound fucking crazy n shit but i want to be in a town or a place that has tornados alot...I know that sounds crazy but just the rush the panic and all the excitement.

  • Oh yah? Is that so?

  • At the point you start to film this tornado, there isn't any funnel cloud formed yet. What made you want to start filming the clouds when you did? Hopeful filming? Were the clouds acting funny and you thought...well maybe?

  • @ 1:49, why does your video skip ahead about 5 minutes? I'd love to see that part of the tornado too. Please add that back in :)

  • sounds kinda scary with the sirens in the background, like something out of a movie. tornado formed quite nicely though

  • They sure gave you plenty of time to warn you.

  • It's always funny to hear people describe a video as "shot live". A opposed to what? The term "live" applies only to playback, as in "you are watching this live as it happens". EVERYTHING is "shot live" because we can't send a camera back or forward in time.

Ever heard someone say "this was filmed 2 weeks from now" or "we are now filming this 4 days ago."

    Goofy.

  • @TheJediCharles I love your logic!

  • @AricBolf

Thank you, but I can't help noticing such "mis-speaks". I envy people who don't notice as they must live in a sort of bliss. I suppose it's partly because in my line of work I have to catch such mistakes, but I've always noticed them (and my child must have the same gene because she does too at a young age).

In fact, I'm annoyed that in my own comment you just replied to, I left off the "s" in "as" in the second sentence. DANG YOUTUBE'S LACK OF COMMENT EDITING!

    ;D

  • @TheJediCharles Good one. I always get a chuckle out of that phrase "filmed in front of a live studio audience." As opposed to a dead studio audience? Or how about an indifferent studio audience? The possibilities are endless.

  • @htc6600

Ha, you're right. Now, thanks to you, I'll never hear that silly phrase the same again. :D

It's really odd how much people don't hear what they say, they just say what they've heard before.

  • one day later is my birthday

  • imagine being right underneath that tornado !!!

  • so...are you also looking around for more that might sneak up behind you?

  • y is it not windy?

  • How much did channel 9 pay for this video? Just curious.

  • I want to witness a tornado so badly , but i live in New York D; .

  • @Abbyheartshate y? if u want to witness a tornado go to ohio i think there's gonna b 1 tonight :(

  • Why didnt they turn the sirens on like before it started what if ppl couldnt get to there basements when they first heard the sirens

  • it is like the tornado is giving a head start it does not come down fast at all!

tornado:i think i will give you a head start!i♥ you

    human:oh will fine jerk >:)

  • it is like the tornado is giving a head start it does not come down fast at all!

  • Why did they sound the sirens like 3 seconds before the tornado came down someone could of been using the bathroom and before they would of noticed the sirens they would of died lol wow

  • Tornado not seen. Sirens off.

    Tornado comes down. Sirens on.

Tornado disappears for a bit. Sirens off.

Willmar, you need to keep those sirens on until the STORM leaves, not the visible funnel!

  • BEAUTIFUL video!!!!!!!!!

  • wow that must be scary

  • creepy looking tornado huh guys i mean look its curved slant looks like its god is dragging it or somthing lol and torando sirens went off like 2 minutes ago due to testing.....and i live in fucking north carolina....(redneck state that i absolutly despise...)

  • I LOVE THE SOUND OF TORNADO SIRENS!!!! :D

  • I LOVE THE SOUND OF TORNADO SIRENS!!!!!!

  • Are tornado sirens everywhere in the US? and who controls it or turns them on?

  • @TheFever77 Not everywhere. I think the city or fire department controls the sirens.

  • @TheFever77 yes torando sirens are all over the us and mostly your local fire station or your local police station turns them on and or your park district

  • @TheFever77

Not everywhere. I know there are none in my city at least.

  • Very cool, thanks for posting it.

  • i would be freezing.SCREWWW YOUUU NATUREEEE

  • Lol! "Hey honey! This is our neighbor Chad"! Great video! If I am remembering correctly, this occurred in the same year as the Buffalo Lake Tornado? That was a bad year. Even in Hutchinson, where I live, the winds from that twister wrecked a lot of property.

  • @Kiahify naw i think buffalo lake was before this one a year or two if i remember right. and i'm in hutch every few days!

  • sou fascinado por tornados, como eu gostaria de ver um aki na minha cidade hehe

  • 6:24 --- are you hungry? o______X like, really really hungry?

  • Holy shit, that was MN?

    I LIVE IN MN!

    I DON'T REMEMBER THIS!

  • @jeffdarga1 Only people like you can turn an innocent video of a tornado into a hail storm of flame and idiots.

    Nice going.

  • Who exactly was operating those sirens? They should have been blaring several minutes, not just a few seconds, before that tornado touched down. And you don't just turn the sirens off when it lifts up--it can come back at any time!

  • @jeffdarga1 UR THE BEST PERSON OF THE WORLD!

    i'm not joking.

    I think god doesn't exist

  • Nice way to meet your neighbors! Hey, I live next door to you and there's a really big tornado headed our way.

  • I heard on this tornado documentary that a F-4 tornado was right on top of a man's back and he lived.

  • unwanted visitor

  • A person certinly had enough time to either take cover or flee from this one. What a beautiful storm. Extremely picturesque... The kind you see on calendars..... Thanks for sharing!!!

  • @jeffdarga1 when people get hurt they dont go to church and tell god to take that huge chunk of schrapnul out of their heads they go to the hospital where the surgeon will save you. and churches are a waste of time and money.

  • is his the same tornado?? peanutbuttermomma has vid

  • It almost looks like there's more rotation in the cloud, like it could have put down two or three more funnels.

  • it seemed like alot of bad tornados happened in 2008

  • That twister siren should shut up people know the twister is on the ground

  • @BonJoviFan96 how? what if their cooking or in the basement doing laundry etc! or the kids are out the front garden next to the house where they cant see it?

  • just before the twister touchs the ground

  • That's Willmar for you. On time with everything.

  • did he tjust was runing choper test or why is he so breathing...?

  • Count your blessings that you HAVE sirens in Minnesota. When I lived in Gulfport, Mississippi, in the mid-1980s, there were NO sirens. If you didn't happen to have your radio or television on (and you weren't looking out a window), you could be unaware that a tornado was bearing down on you. That was first time I subscribed to cable TV, because at least then I had The Weather Channel.

  • no tornados here in Greece. yet.......

  • @SauseMix007 For some reason Europe in general doesn't have a ton of tornadoes, it seems. That's why there are so many brick houses there, i think, since wood tends to bend and if the storm is powerful enough a brick house will be ripped apart and smash someone's skull. .-.

  • @aPococurante Well even if we ever have a tornado, it wont go far. We have mountains all over the area.

  • @SauseMix007 Prolly another reason why there arent many tornados

  • muitoo loko

  • yall wasnt scared

  • amazing!

  • in the first couple seconds of the vid i could see dust below the point

  • i remember this, i was watching it from Roosevelt.

  • O_O Wow!

  • Man, you were so lucky to be able to capture that right outside your home.... certainly something you'll never forget

  • fuckin epic

  • oh look the tornado is leaving "fire the sirens up!" lol

  • lol the sirens came on after the tornado already formed!

  • sirens lol i mean if you see a tornado you better get the fuck away from there...dont wait fot the sirens

  • Omg.. God bless

  • the sirens r supposed to go off wen the weather service releases a tornado warning

  • @xxD1RTYxB1RDxx I KNOW!!! goshh those people should have the sirens on when the funnel was there

  • Some of the best footage I have seen from a subdivision

  • y would they turn off the sirens if its still there

  • ah,what a beautiful day for a picnic :)

  • @theweirdlittledude haha xD

  • How mutch damage did it do?

  • We had an EF4 tornado here in my area of Toledo, Ohio about a month ago. Milbury, Ohio looks like a war zone...it's very sad. This is a great video. Hugs from Toledo, Ohio!!!

  • this is very good footage!

  • ya that really gave the people alot of time with the sirens

  • scary

  • 7:05, That must be the "the tornado is gone so u can stop panicing siren"

  • YES 2 LATEEEEEEEE

  • wow, they fail at siren timings xD

  • @drybowser21 they actually set the sirens off a million times during this even. According to one of my friends in the Willmar area the set them off twice before the touchdown and like 5 or 6 (maybe more) times after it touched down.

  • @drybowser21 but i still agree with you...they fail at siren timings.

  • @27722700 yup :P

  • i dont think the sirens helped

  • That was a strange tornado. I've never seen one stay stationary for that long. . . and then it just went back up. lol

  • wow it took them way too long to sound the sirens.

  • OMG i waz at cub foods and had to go in the freezer behind the milk! luckly the tornado didnt do much damage! it waz 1.0 miles away from my house

  • @mrsclumsyful lol fat people will always find a hiding stop in a fridge

  • Yeahhh lol that swirling cloud above your head doesn't mean you should run at all XD...........lol

  • 1:09 it was a tornado. your towns warning system SUCKS... u should have been calling into 911.... nice fail... anyhow BEAITUFL rope tornado

  • love minnesota

  • I would've peed my pants....and at the same time I'm filming...I would've been shaking like a leaf!!

  • Hint: if a tornado doesn't really appear to be moving, it is heading directly to/from you, if it is getting larger-it is coming to you.

  • @lkcthp104 Mostly true, but people also need to check the TOP of the tornado to see which way it is moving.

    --

A tornado that is roping out (dieing) may look like it is moving away from you because it is thinning out, but could actually be moving toward you.

    --

Also, it may look like it is coming toward you because it is getting bigger, turning into a wedge, but could actually be moving away from you

  • @lkcthp104 (was running out of space)

One last thing, I have seen tornadoes develop from ropes or elephant trunks into large 1/4 to 1/2 mile wide wedges in less than a minute, so people should ALWAYS maintain a situational awareness

  • Chad your a brave

  • I still cant believe people get weeks of notice of a hurricane and they dont leave their homes but here in the midwest a tornado touches down in our backyards and we are usually ready for them.

  • sirens are soo horrible!! its such a distressing awful sound!!
