You missed an integral part of the jumping footage from the moon. The dust at the astronauts feet. The way the moon dust acted in the footage can only mean that it was on the moon. And also, the dropping of the hammer and feather. Explain both of these to me.
HAHA This is pathetic. The only way you can support your lunatic theories is by criticizing MYTHBUSTERS. The very idea that people would take Adam and Jamie's conclusions seriously is hilarious. Scientific analysis is SURPRISINGLY a bit more involved, encompassing content that I don't believe would be too exciting for the average viewer (namely 9-15 year old's, or Jarrah White).
I am deeply unimpressed. Savage's comment was more nuanced than this video makes it out to be. And then the remainder is spent over the fact that a reporter didn't quote accurately because we all know that the press only misquotes when they have an agenda.
It was nice to hear Savage admit that his show is entertainment and not science. Although the former is a matter of opinion the latter is true and there are no scientists and nobody with a scientific background on that show.
Its mostly about a couple of goofy guys who blow shit up.
I knew you'd be dumb, but didn't expect you could be that dumb.
OK, hoaxer school 101-Any claim that wires were used to simulate lunar gravity, including use of wires in combination with slo-mo or other camera tricks, requires that wires are attached to every object in shot. In the case of the A16 Navy Salute, that includes lunar dust.
Go to the 5:44 mark, and observe the rate of descent of the lunar regolith simulant kicked up by the astro-not; there is nothing unusual about it. It falls to the ground as it would here on earth. Why does it fall sooner than the astro-not? Because it's not being kicked as high as he is jumping. Simple.
Why do I have to do your research for you, you lazy, unobservant prick? The answer was right under your nose the whole time.
Alright dipshit, I didn't want to push your comedy gold to the back pages with a response, but clearly you need some kind of hint. Look to the top of these comments...the very top. See that comment by madebz? See the response by Jarrah where he refers madebz to Part 5 of this series? This where the footage from the Mythbusters is played at normal speed, and the Apollo 16 footage is speed up to match...
Remember, I'm not the one referring to lunar regolith simulant as "dust". You are the one referring to it as "dust", and I don't mind telling you, it's a rather bogus assumption.
Do you assume that because the moon has a "vacuum" environment, therefore the regolith on the surface must be like that of something you'd find inside the used bag on your Hoover "vacuum" cleaner?
Does sand at the beach billow or cloud when you kick it up?
@jelinto Slow down there Sparky, I am well aware of what the surface of the moon is covered in, and even how deep it is (but that's related to another shit-stupid hoax claim). Also, its physical attributes, but I digress. Don't try to side track the issue, dust is the common term.
Are you claiming that the A16 salute sequence used sand, or simulant (you must be aware that NASA has a simulated regolith material, yes?)
Now, the A16 salute, you claim that it is wires AND slow motion (cont)
You claim that you are "well aware of what the surface of the moon is covered in" and its physical attributes. Really? Have you been there?
Yes, I'm aware that there is a company that supplies NASA with a lunar regolith simulant (that is the term I've been using. Hello?), and I'm glad you brought it up.
watch?v=jkdOMdIYxlI
Does the simulant billow or cloud anymore than what's seen in Jarrah's Part 5 video? Nope.
@jelinto Why use slo-mo? And to get the right parabolic arcs & acceleration in all other lunar vids for all items seen, you'd need to speed the film up by 2.46x anyway
Just take a look at JYs saluting arm in his salute
Wow, that's moving pretty fast eh? & in a big ole EVA suit too
I bet you couldn't move that fast, and consistently so the "movie" could then be slo-mo'd to give the effect you want to see...oh but wait, in JW's part 5 he only speeds it up by 1.5x
This is based on the assumption that mankind went to the moon. Hint: we didn't.
If NASA filmed on a set and slowed the footage down to approximately 67% percent to pass the film off onto an unsuspecting public as authentic moon landing footage, then that's what they did, and the "2.46X" figure you apollogists throw out there is bunk. You're just making shit up, dancing around the obvious and wasting my time.
BTW, ending all your posts with "You lose, champ" or "You lose, try harder", doesn't prove anything except that you have no faith in your logic or reasoning (lack thereof is more like it), and are insecure so you try to reinforce your bogus claims with childish rhetoric.
If Jarrah White doesn't deal with the two amontaiyagala's two videos that you claim are "irrefutable proof for moon landing" with a video response, then I will. What bullshit!
Adam Savage's words: "I'm biased by the fact that I know we're right in that episode, so you're just gonna have to take that."
My paraphrase of Adam Savage's words: "He (Adam Savage) then says we should just take his word for it regarding the moon landing because he KNOWS he's right..."
...and I continued with,"(he) then goes on to say he could be wrong and that he's 'okay with it.'"
Those are the facts. So my question is; where do you see a problem in my paraphrase?
...considering you initially accused me of misquoting Adam Savage with my paraphrased words, despite the fact that I didn't use quotation marks, it seems apparent enough to me that YOU don't know what the terms 'to quote someone' OR 'to paraphrase someone" mean.
Hmmm...should I reinforce this with a childish insult or valediction.

No, I have confidence in my comments and I've made my point, therefore I feel it is unnecessary.

I like how Adam Savage first goes about answering your questions by antagonizing you and then answers your question with a flawed statement saying their show is about entertainment not scientific fact which is wrong because all their experiments are based on scientific fact.
At 2:02 Savage's reply to Jarrah's question as to why they did the wire suspension and slow motion experiments separate instead of simultaneously is, "I hadn't thought of it."
Then he says, "What (the Mythbusters) are doing isn't science." WTF? Whoosh! All credibility gone out the window.
He then says we should just take his word for it regarding the moon landing because he KNOWS he's right, then goes on to say he could be wrong and that he's "okay with it." LMFAO!!!
@jelinto So you think the moon landings were filmed in a school gym, with no dust, and then the dust was added in post production? Or what is your explanation for the rate of fall of the dust in the A16 video?
So maybe Savage hadn't thought of it, but others in the team had...or do you have a credible explanation for the fall rate of the regolith? Wires on each particle, perhaps......
MB aren't doing "science", if that makes you feel good. (cont)
@snakehipsohoolihan What they do is demonstration. Given the time they have to do their shows, things must be left out. eg, the dust was not only not explained by the programme, but I'm willing to bet you can't do it in 5 posts here-that gives you 2500 words to come up with a verifiable explanation of how the dust is made to fall like that if not on Earth.
@jelinto Perhaps you should listen to the audio again.
Nowhere does Savage say we should take his word for it. In fact, he offers a disclaimer, which is more than Jarrah ever does.
Sorry Jel, but you have failed. Apart from not even seeing the problem with the dust, you misquote a very short clip-how can you be trusted to give any sort of reasonable discussion when you can't even get your facts right from a 2 minute(or so) quote from Savage when its right in front of you?
Furthermore, if you look back to my original comment, I wasn't quoting Savage (notice no quotation marks used). I was merely paraphrasing. i.e. - YOU'VE misquoted ME!
"I'm biased by the fact that I know we're right in that episode, so you're just gonna have to take that." - Adam Savage at 2:24. There, is that better?

And that's why moonwalks supporters (like shanedk for example), increase the speed of the Apollo footage too much and get the astronauts moving too fast when "trying" to prove it wasn't filmed on Earth's gravity. They ignore that Apollo truthers say the footages were filmed in slow motion. You did it (too) wrong, Shane!

How about adding this your own video to the video responses, Jarrah? As it shows the Mythbuster's experiment, why it was wrong and how it should have been done.
Wow, Jarrah. You will find any reason to hate these men, won't you?
Thing is, they HAVE repeatedly revisited myths and have said "Ok, we fucked up" on the show. The show isn't really scientific, and they aren't scientists, and they admit that on the show. You can't hold them too responsible for what their audience says, either.
And yeah, your tone was a little more than just "a little abrasive". You came off like a child in the middle of a tantrum.
How can they possibly argue that their show is purely entertainment? They're whole show is based on them DISPROVING myths and urban legends.
Is it true that the mythbusters are sore about the fact that they can't disprove one of the biggest myths of all?: Maybe, maybe not, but it certainly looks that way.

WTF? Clearly you don't understand the term "slow motion" as it applies to the playback of film or video.
It's only a reduction TO 67% of the original film speed. NOT a reduction OF 67%. It's that what's confusing you?
jelinto 1 year ago
@jelinto Nothing is confusing me.
Pray tell, in the Jarrah White version of the MB video, where is the dust?
Answer: there isnt any, as it was filmed in (what appears to be) a gymnasium.
So what would the fall rate be in the video if it was slowed down TO 67%?
I'll tell you this, it wouldn't equate to the fall rate expected in 1/6g.
BUT according to Jarrah, the astro would be falling at the correct rate,
BUT in the MB video, 5/6 of the mass of the astro is taken up in a wire rig

SO 5/6 of the mass of each dust grain would need to be taken up by a wire rig as well.

Prepare to be Busted - Mythbusters Debunked addendum

How about adding this your own video to the video responses, Jarrah? As it shows the Mythbuster's experiment, why it was wrong and how it should have been done.

I love that tape of him and the reporter, "you're making me nervous, looking over my shoulder" and the "hmmmmm"

Right around the time this episode aired Jamie Bought a 1.5+ million dollar home down the road from me..... What a payoff that was for him.
