  • If I put it to the highest rpm, it will go to his maximum rpm for a very short time, but it almost immediately lowers to his original rpm, it won't stay on the rpm that I want. Does have anyone a solution to keep it on the rpm that I want?

  • i got a question, you got a big noise with 6200 rpm, doesnt it disturb you?

on my macbook pro im with 70C and its silent =D

  • :O my macbook is at 181F

  • oh yeah and I have a macbook pro 13 inch 2.53 ghz

  • what is the normal temperature in farenheit because mine usually runs around 144

  • I have gotten smc Fan Control, and I've set the settings for as high as they'll go, because I usually am working with several high demand apps at any given time. What it will do when I select this setting is rev up to the speed at which I've set it at, and then fall back to the default speed. How can I keep it at the higher speeds? If it matters, I have a MBP. Thanks.

  • It's hard to tell from the post. If you want, PM me your AIM- we'll screenshare.

  • @cwmurray same here how do u keep it at a constant pace fan speed

  • @code4owns I haven't been able to keep it there. I fiddled with it for a while, but nothing seems to help. What I've ended up doing is just using it when it gets really hot to bring it down a little to "hot, but not super hot". But it still works in spurts, so I have to click it a few times in a row.

  • @cwmurray this happened to me too! how did you fix it?

  • Comment removed

  • @cwmurray My smc doesn't change the fan speed at all. I can see the temperature and the fan rpm fine, but even though i've set the preferences to about 5500rpm this does effect my fans at all. (they keep well below that at lower temperatures)

    I've got a MBP with OS X 10.6

    Anyone else have this problem?

Any ideas of how to fix it?

    Thanks

  • @parntsen I don't think I ever got mine to work properly. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, using different versions, and messing around with every setting my mouse could find, but nothing worked. Since then, I took it to an Apple Store and got info on it (I've got a MBP as well), and they said that the temp shouldn't get above about 80 degrees C. I've run intensive programs through a parallel OS and it has never gotten near that mark. How hot is yours getting?

  • @cwmurray Mine reaches 90C without running taxing programs. And regularly reaches 97C when i play WOW. I've turned down the screen brightness and that knocks off about 5C. I've got windows 7 on my bootleg, but i can't run it any period of time without it shutting down, (presumably a safty mechanism to prevent it from melting/catching fire)

I've done a lot of research on cooling pads and bought the Zalman ZM-NC2500 Plus. If you want I'll let you know how well it works when I get it.

  • @parntsen If you would, that would be great! I haven't heard of a machine heating up to those kinds of temps before - I was just trying to be overly cautious. Did you get a warranty with it?

  • @cwmurray so i've had the cooling pad for about a week now. I would say it drops the temperature about 5 degrees Celcius. when i run it on my mac. It still can't keep it cool enough to play a game in windows Bootcamp.

I got this particular cooling pad because someone writing a review on it complained that it cools more at the top than the bottom. I thought this would be perfect since the mac heats mainly at the top. This guy got it all wrong though. It does not cool mainly at the top. I

  • @cwmurray It's an ok cooling pad, but I would advice you to get one that has fan openings where the mac heats up the most.

I do have the warranty and I've been lazy about it. I'm gonna take it to the mac store and see if they can do something about this.

  • @parntsen That's a good idea. They should be able to shed some light on the matter for you. I still have a slight fear of working with those people because I feel so unequipped (I was a PC person for years), but every time I've gone in, they've gotten right to the issue and fixed it. They should be able to help right there, or if not, get back to you with a solution after looking it over. No complaints about their service.

  • my laptop gets really hot but i can hear the fan running high and it feels like hot air is coming out and it makes my laptop get real hot and it will overheat and die what should i do?

  • hey i have a qn. if i keep leaving the fan at 4000 rpm or more, will it spoil?

  • what do you mean spoil.

  • like will the fan or laptop spoil if i leave the fan on for more than 6000rpm for 1 hour

  • no because these fans are built to be used for long periods of times at fast speed such as 6000 rpm.

  • oh ok thx. im so gonna switch it to 6000rpm whenever i use my MBP from now on. protecting my MBP comes 1st!

  • Hello, this may be a pretty obvious question, but I'll ask anyway for confirmation and closure :O.

If it set it, for example on a 4000 rpm and decide to delete the app without turning the fan down to macbook default (1800), will the fans remain within the 4k rpm range when i decide to reinstall the program (SMC Fan control)?

    Thanks

  • When My Laptop Play Games It Turns Hot..

When I Don't Play Games It Cools

  • its because the computer is using the graphics card and processor is a more intense way.

  • Nice video by the way, good editing.

  • Thanks man, subscribe :D

  • I love using this program. It can make a Mac Pro sound like a really powerful computer.

  • It isn't already? Haha

  • It certainly is, however, if you have some friends who aren't impressed, this certainly does the touch. : )
