  • very nice job. I learned something and I subscribed! Keep 'em coming!

  • thanks man helped alot

  • Rendering just got a total new meaning to me....i'm stunned!

  • Well no matter what he calls it that was simply to most concise tutorial on cutting out objects in PS while also showing the power of the pen tool vs polygonal tool. Being self taught there were many fundamentals that I just glossed over. Good post.

  • ovo klempo ?? :D

  • i think somebody needs to go to college to get educated

  • omg is that a new renering process???

  • this video is the one that taught me how to render all these years. I thank you so much, felt like i had to come back and say this.

  • that had nothing to do with rendering. Its just a cut out of a picture, name your stuff properly damnit

  • ....This is absolutely NOTHING to do with rendering.

  • @SirenLawliet This is what i was told rendering ment and a lot of people use this term

  • @HaloHamstur The term is used often, in that you are right, but this is not what the term actually means. "Rendering" is generating a 2D image file from a 3D modeling programs, or rendering an actual 3D model wire frame, or saving an animation file to a finished animation, or completely drawing/fleshing/detailing out a finished drawing or painting in a higher realistic detail. Rendering is not selecting, cutting, and pasting.

  • @SirenLawliet Ok canyou please explain to me what someone means when they say it took them 40-50 hours to render something. Now when there saying that does that mean it took them 40-50 hours to make? Or does it mean it took that long for the computer to calculate everything? Cause im confused i hear so many different definitions of rendering. And its really confusing me cause i want to become a game designer and im trying to learn about all this stuff and people keep giving me different answers.

  • @halo6534 That's the thing, rendering can mean either one of those. It depends on what the thing is being rendered. Chances are though, if it's 40-50 hours, that's probably the time it took them to MAKE it. It'd have to be an enormous file or animation for the computer to take 40-50 hours to render it out. Also, usually, in a comment description, no one really puts the "render time" as in the time it took the computer render it out, because no one really cares about that.

  • @SirenLawliet Oh ok thanks dude i appreciate you helping me haha. I still got a lot to learn. Im turning 18 soon so i still have a long road ahead.

  • @halo6534 No problem. =]

  • @SirenLawliet what your describing is what im looking for but im having a hard time finding somthing that shows me how to do that is there another term that i can look for that will show me how to do that? if not can you point me to a video that shows how to ?

  • @staone1 I just described two things. Which one were you looking for? And I'm not really sure I can find a video on it...Good tutorial videos for this stuff on Youtube seem hard to find...I've never looked up any sort of "how to" art video on Youtube.

  • @SirenLawliet The 2nd one do you know anywere that explains in good detail how to do it

  • @staone1 Er...you mean for rendering out an animation file? No, I don't. I really don't look this stuff up online, haha, sorry. To learn I pretty much use school +bought resources, like Gnomon DVDs and the more "reputable" tutorial magazines and books.

  • Wonder why he goes through smart object before doing rasterization..?

  • Dude thank you so much for this little tutorial, I needed just that :D

    Greetz from Holland !! :D

  • I see nothing to do with "rendering" here at all. Ameteur attempt at showing the Pen tool in photoshop. Also no mention of "possible" copywright infringements.... If you need Photoshop tutorials Adobe has all you ever need and they are explained fully.

  • @ScraggyDogg

Stfu, Nuff said. I didn't know how to do this. And it is rendering. Stop being a smart ass and stfu.

  • @ScraggyDogg There isnt a copyright anything here lol

  • Skye is a pussy.

  • the author of this video does not know what "render" actually means.

  • @ololh4xx I was about to type that but you beat me too it

  • thanks mate, that vid really helped me :)

  • If you need good HQ renders you can find here , mates : w-c-f-r.com

  • can i make renders with texts? i have to make an invitation and im going to use color papel, so i was wondering that. i hope you can answerd this before september 17th haha. thx for the vid.

  • thanks

  • imo best render guide out there so many guides fail to leave out the pull/bend function the pen toll provides to get smoother images.

  • Look up the word "render" in a dictionary , at most what u can use is "crop" which exactly means what you've done in the video (remove/trim the edges/background)

    Otherwise tutorial is good.

  • i remeber i used to save renders as jpeg.....haha i was so un aware of things and how they worked

  • Hey this is pretty cool.I thought it would be harder.

  • Thank for the tutorial, having to go back and fourth in the video - the audio keeps popping. Driving me insane.

  • Upload all your renders at psd-dreams . de

  • This is a great video, and is easily explained, thanks, just rendered my first pic using this tutorial!

  • I like how he chose this holiday picture of himself to demonstrate us how to do stuff like this.

  • sweet, cheers mate.

  • Excellent video thanks, really helped with a certain render that I wanted :)

  • This method is so much better than using magnetic or reg lasso. Thanks man

  • rendering isn't cutting around an object...

  • @pkiriakou it is, fag! But in photoshop -.-

  • I got leftover cum in my dick from beating off.

  • Thanks so much man helped a bunch.

  • If you have the pen tool on revit does the vector mask come out cleaner? Or will it revert back to blur?

  • Comment removed

  • looks like you did it the hard way =/

  • I cant create a vector mask. Its gray. Why is that?

  • @MTwoV2 Cutting out the pig is called rendering.

  • BG&E :D

  • Thanks man u are amazing ! Liked and Subscribed .

  • sankyu~ thanks to your video, using Pen Tool to render seem so much easier now xD~

  • Thank you =D

  • Thanks alot man! I learnt alot from your video. 5/5 and it goes straight to favorite ;)

  • really helped me out! thanks :)

  • Or use the magic wand tool -.-

  • For people using mac to make it bend hold down command not control (:

  • what happens when you surround the object and it deletes it instead of everything else?

  • @DivasKnockoutsLover You hit "undo", "step backwards",s or shorcuts- CTL+Z, or Ctrl+Alt+Z. Undo only works once, and fixes your previous mistake, step backwards goes all the way back, i am pretty sure, one step at a time.

  • when i render why does the image i render turn gray? help? please?

  • Is it me or does that look like the pig from courage the cowardly dog?

  • Great Tutorial

  • This is not rendering. This is selecting and cutting. All he did was cut all a part of an image. Nothing else.

  • thanks(: i use this video everytime i forget how haha

  • lol? i can't click on create vectormask... it's gray...

  • thanks it works verry nice!

  • thanks

  • Is very Great

    verry thanx

    :)

  • can i have a copy of that pig image? xD

  • what is the dully or dolly button he is using at the end?

  • @Maiauce it's the delete button.... it just sounds a little strange^^

  • Thank you sir, rendering my Intervention was a betch haha

  • Took me 10 years to learn that! Thanks bro!

  • How come when i make a render the whole selection goes black

  • when i pushed delete it deleted all of my picture. haha. all i had was little black spots here and there left of my picture =[

  • i dont now anything of rendering , but , that modefy and then select ineverse and stuff , that helpt me A LOT !!!

  • ty =] ^.^

  • I thought that tool was only in illustrator O_o

  • marquee tool is pronounced "mar-key"

  • thnk you bro ^^

  • Thank you very much.

  • what is this pig from? a video game or something? really cool image

  • never mind i got it

  • I CANT CREATE A vECTER MASK!!!!!!1

  • @scannie128 Make sure you have click on pen tool before right clicking to create a vector mask.

  • gangsta pig

  • what is a render? is it just so i cant have an image and use it when ever i want without having to cut it out with the pen tool all the time?

  • @bluby187x Pretty much? :D

  • Hey thanks for the tutorial :D

  • why does my render come out so small.. So how do you make the render bigger after you've cut it out?

  • @LoveHoosier The render shouldn't get resized at all from this process. To resize images you can press CTRL+T. With the box that appears around the images, shold down shift and drag one of the corner images to the desired size. If you make the images too big you'll lose a lot of quality. Try finding a big image to render.

  • but how do i save the render as a rendered photo?

  • @wiimonster222 I like to go to file > save for web and device and save it as a png-24. It is a really high quality image if done this way with max settings. It also allows for a clean transparent image.

  • thank you!!

  • what the hell .. this is not rendering

  • This isn't rendering... this is how to cut something out of an image. And why did you create a vector mask, then convert it to a smart objective, then reaterise, when if you just made a layer mask then applied it it would have given you the EXACT same result but a lot faster?

Also, do you not know how to use the pen tool properly? Your points are jagged.

You shouldn't be doing Photoshop tutorials if you're not good at it. You're just showing people how to waste time doing something not needed.

  • @llTomlll Render is just the term used on an image cut out of a stock. I am aware it has other definitions. As for converting to smart object, sure there is faster methods that I now know a year and 6months later, but this is what I posted about at the time. Almost a thousand people have found this useful since the like button on youtube.

In short...STOP TROLLING ME BRO :D

  • Comment removed

  • why u do a pig xD

  • @Fowlmouth93 It had nice image quality haha

  • cool, nice and simple for anyone who didn't know how to do this easier. There's plenty of ways you can do this to images but this is the most efficient and simple.

  • @Shadowlooker12 Glad it helped

  • great im gonna try this

  • wussup with the captions?? its just saying random shit....

  • @djb103 The video is over a year old and as are the captions. I am updating them now.

  • your hot :D

  • this has nothing to do with rendering, but some noobs still call it by that name, it is really called "extraction" and that is why there is also a tool, only for this, in photoshop which will give you an alot better result than this - also called "extraction"

    .

  • @thekapow Yuh times have changed, this video is over a year and 5months old. Back then it was mostly known as rendering. Thanks for the info :)

  • Wheres your website go ? intuit is a free website maker

  • this is simply genius , thanks a lot I will put this in practice when I got some time.

  • Comment removed

  • How to you make it invisible in the backround?

  • @combatsucksatm it removes the "background" when you follow his steps. The checkerbox signifies a lack of pixels i.e. no background. If you still see a background after following his steps, it could mean that you have another layer that is showing. Once you are done, try saving as a ".png" file. png files save transparency. If you save as a jpg, it will automatically replace any empty areas with white, which it sounds like you do not want.

  • I have a question, how should i save it because i saved it as an .png but there is not the same backgroung that normal rendered png datas have. (like at the end of your video) can you help me?

  • Flawless!!! Much better result than with the polygan lasso tool!!! Takes maybe a few more mins more to do it, but OMG its soo much more worth it!

PS: the link to your site is either broken or the site is gone

  • Omgad thank you :D

I don't feel as nooby as i did back then

  • Nevermind, got that fixed. How do I crop out a piece of the image that's inside of the image, like the inside of a hollow circle?

  • Great tutorial, but when I finish the outline, and I right click the Vector mask is greyed out. Why?

(I just downloaded Photoshop, so I am a noob)

  • When I render and there is white, black, any color chosen how come it shows up on my picture? Will it affect the finished peice?

  • what??delete button??? 3:30

  • the one under insert

  • @248lilrap Delete on your keyboard.

  • where is that pig from ?

  • @am110394 Beyond Good & Evil 2

  • For a 3D artist the title of the video is totally misleading ;)

  • Thank you for the tutorial, i'll try it later. Did you know? I can make render requests and sell them! MWAHAHAHA~!

  • lol @ 1:05 ...e_e You thought his love handle was a elbow...

  • excellent video bro 5/5 and subscribed

  • Helped a lot, thanks very much,

  • wheres this pig from hes ill

  • @GFxCube When i create a vector mask, it doesnt show up the black and white background, it stays the same!

  • awesome video really helped, I was doing it the old fashioned way with erasers and lasso tool... helped so much. thanks a bunch.

  • Which Photoshop is that:D?

  • how come when i copy and paste renders from the internet the background isn't transparent?

  • @aznwolf106 if youre going on something like planetrenders, you might be clicking the small image itself without actually clicking on the image and THEN copying the render with a transparent background. If you did that and it doesn't work save the render to your pictures file and just do File>Open from your photo editing program :)

  • @damondude50 ahh thanks. got it to work now :)

  • @aznwolf106: you have to save it and then upload it.

  • I have some troubles rendering when trying to fix it up. If I'm fixing the edges when using the pen, I hold ctrl and change edge on it, but sometimes it moves it in a different way I want. :P Hard to explain. Also, When i click again to start a new point on the image, it starts from a point randomely from the middle, not the closest point to where I clicked.

  • Thanks man. This helped me alot.

The only thing I had trouble with was finding 'Convert to Smart Object'. I found it afterwards, but the reason I couldn't find it is because CS2 calls this 'Group into Smart Object'. Still, GREAT TUT. :3

  • i just have one question, why are u calling this, render???

  • @georgbernier This is called a render, I don't know how it originated :P, but it's when you take the background off an object in an image to call it a render... which is used in tons of different products by using editing programs.

  • @neon4901 ummmmm, ok. well i just knew render like an action in 3D animation softwares, but, ok, it's ok. thank you for the answer.

  • When i did this and saved it, I opened it in a different photoshop window and it didn't have a transparent background? o.o

  • This is very helpful sir, i'm trying to make custom Xbox 360 dashboards themes and the rendering technique im using is bollocks xD.

  • you dont render it, you create a mask. i hate when people call it rendering when rendering is solely used by 3D programs

  • Could you tell me where you got this picture please? or what i should search to get references this character

  • Forgot to say: Great Tutorial.

  • Hey,at the last part with: select > modify > contract,i put 1 pixel but when i press delete,it delete the image.What i did wrong ?

  • @XxD3MONULxX you didn't invert the selection. right click>invert selection

  • @XxD3MONULxX Gotta click the marquee button then right click the marquee you made. Go to select inverse. This selects everything outside the marquee. Then click delete :)

  • :D Thanks! Thumbs up and saved to favorites.

  • @killab2oo5 WoOt

  • One of the best rendering tutorials I've come across. Thank you! XD

  • Thank u soooo much for this tutorial :-D

Finaly i know how to render ;-)

  • @mustafax2 You're beast noa!

  • Nice technique using the pen tool. Looks lots faster than draging adjustment handles from each point.

    Thanks!

  • when i do this

    and create vector mask

i get the cutted out piece black and white

    how does this come?

  • @musicsjos Your image is a locked image. Most likely you are unable to edit the image at all. Its a feature some photo programs give users the option to do ("helps protect their work" - I think).

Anyways simple fix. Go to image > canvas size. Change the drop down to pixels. Get the size of the image.

Now go to file new and create a new document using the same image sizes.

Go back to your old image. Press CTRL+A. This should highlight your image. Hold ctrl and drag to the new box, and render

  • R.I.P Evercube

  • @GabreilGore :[

  • @GabreilGore ???

  • @noamize

Evercube was a site that went offline T_T

    I miss it alot...

  • @GabreilGore what happened to evercube??

  • @ManservantPablo

    It died. Just, Went offline.

  • awesome im still a photo shop beginner

  • thx a lot bro

  • @giantoptics1212 save as .PNG

  • Nice tutorial. Thanks for posting. Gotta say though: that's not how you pronounce "marquee" :-P

  • nice tut man really like it :D

  • what hog character is that?

  • hmm. good vid. but what about the holes inside the render?
