Islam is not the worship of God, but the worship of Satan. Therefore, it is inferior as well as evil. The faithful adherant is rewarded with material ratyher than spiritual gain. Satan rules the material world. Satan sponsers Islam.
The modern Hijab is not a symbol of totalitarianism or anything of the like. It is just a piece of cloth and a style for God's sake!! It does not dictate what is in the mind. Muslim women of old (in many countries) when in the presence of other women often went topless for some reason. Usually washing clothes on the river or the like was an excuse. Sometimes it was just plain old NOMINAL Islam. They could really care less about their religion. This counts for alot of modern Christians today.
Anything, if forced on someone, can be used as a tool of oppression. But some women choose to wear Hijab with pride as a symbol of their right to impenetrable privacy as Muslim women. For those who choose it, it says 'I am a Muslim woman and you must respect me as such.' There are also different levels of Hijab. Some women cover all (literally). Some just cover their hair. But in some countries you will find fully covered women fully involved in political life with no questions asked.
Pleas don't confuse superficial things with deeper issues and pre-islamic traditions with Islamic ones. Female and MALE circumcission are pre-Islamic practices. Some Muslim do it and some don't. It depends on the pre-Islamic roots of thsoe cultures. i am against male and female circumcision. Both if done with modern medical equipment can be more humane and less traumatic. But we done in a less hygenic way of course it is barbarous.
''In 1981, Abol-Hassan Bani-Sadr, the first president of the Islamic Republic, announced that scientific research had shown that women's hair emitted rays that drove men insane.''
thats not true
a woman had answer that to Mr.Banisadr, and he says he dont khow about that...that is a lies about him,he's wife had no hijab and he has writing many books of human rights and woman in Islam and qoran..
And when you talk about Muslims, please try to stay away from Iran as they are all Shia- We dont consider them to be real muslims because they do everything against Islam. Shia represent only 9% of muslims in the world so try not to focus on that small group. An whether or not women wore hijab 30 years ago- the point is the women around Prophet Muhammed PBUH wore it and He instructed us to do the same. And there is no punishment in ISLAM for not wearing hijab.
Thank you so much for your message as we Americans are kept ignorant about other cultures and fed half truths as well as complete lies. This is done in our families, across the pulpits in our churches and in our main-stream media. The lies are destroying us - our families, our communities and our government. It is so sad really...any thank you again.
I am a revert to Islam. I learned my religion from the Quran and hadith, and Sunna (example of Prophet Muhammed SAWS). I found it very clear that a woman must cover, i didnt know any muslims to tell me "a muslim woman must cover". However, even Allah & Prophet Muhammed said there should be no compulsion in religion, and forcing a woman to veil and stay at home and not go anywhere when she does not want to live that way is wrong. Muslims should guide and advise each other, not force each other
Anyone who does not believe in EVERY SINGLE word of the Holy Quran is not a muslim. When Aisha (may Allah Be Pleased with her) was accused of having an affair, Allah Subhana Wa Tala revealed in the Quran that she did not cheat on Prophet Muhammed (SAWS). Today, Shia call Aisha the worst names imaginable and say she did have an affair. So that mean they dont believe the Quran. Allah told us, "pray only to Me" yet they pray to Ali, Hasan, Hussein. Allah said "dont beat yourselves" and they do it!
Thats funny some Sunni's are so educated while others only cite hadiths and know nothing outside of that. I'm Shia I believe every single word in the Qu'ran, I quote it, I live it, and I've never prayed to the twelve Imams but rather mourn their death for the ignorance of those whom killed the prophets (PBUH)'s descendants.
Aisha is one of the many Mothers of All Believers. According to Islam, a believer is required to respect his mother. However, if such mother goes against the instruction of the Messenger of Allah, conducts and leads the rebellions, and kills innocents, we are religiously required to disassociate ourselves from such mother, and more importantly, we can NOT trust such mother for transmitting the traditions of the Prophet in such volume.
You should check your facts. Saudi Arabia is the ONLY muslim country that women are not allowed travel without a male relative or drive cars. And the reason more women are out of work than men, is because we have the right to stay home and get financially supported with food, housing, transport, clothes- or go out and work 60 hours a week and then come home to cook and clean. And honour killings are NOT ALLOWED in Islam. Prophet Muhammed SAWS & Allah cursed the men who killed their daughters
The person who wrote this article is an absolute neophyte who doesn't do the most basic of research!! Well, there goes the reputation of the Wall Street Journal into file 13 aka the garbage.
Dont apologize. Before i became muslim, i had the wrong idea about islam. So the best way to clear my musconceptions was to study IT-not people. Maybe in Iran people didnt wear hijab 30 years ago, Egypt was similar. But my husband is from Saudi, and he said as a young boy livnig in Makkah, he never even saw a woman's eyes-they completely veiled-at a time when it was NOT LAW to do so. I know its hard to believe, but most Afghan women CHOSE the Burqa, and will never remove it.
People in the west have the idea that because its the law to wear abaya & hijab in Saudi, that means women dont want to wear it. Thats not true. For example, just because its the law to wear seat belt doesnt mean we DONT WANT TO wear it. I would wear it even if the law didnt force me. Because i believe its the right thing to do. Of course in Saudi, maybe 1% of women dont like to cover. Maybe in the west, 1% of people want to take cocoaine freely. But that 1% can destroy the other 99% of society
Women in the US have the "right to stay home", as well. I made that choice as have many other women. However, I also know that when my kids are older I can go back to work be paid an equal wage while being treated as an equal by my male and female co-workers.
If a wife and husband in the US both work the husband helps with the housework. It is not seen as only a woman's job. My husband, our sole provider, helps with housework all the time. He cooked a great dinner for us tonight.
I am from the west. My mother and father both worked. Yes he helped with the housework, but there can be no comparison of the amount of work done between them. Because of both parents working in the west, it has driver the economy crazy, and my mom couldnt afford to stay home with us. maybe your husband has a good job, but lets face it, most western families need to incomes to be able to buy a house now. Because the income and people's spending pushing prices higher, one wage isnt enough
When i was a baby, my mother's salary was higher than my dads, so he stayed home for 2 years while my mom worked as they couldnt afford childcare. Lets face it, men cant breastfeed! Women were made to be mothers. If a woman wants to work after kids-good for her. But it shouldnt take away the child s right to be cared for adequately. Nannies often hit & slap kids. I myself work, & my salary is higher than 90% of my male colleagues. But when i have a baby, i know where my priority lies.
I made the choice to stay home because it never made sense to me to have kids and then have others raise them. But others disagree and they should be free to do both if the choose.
Are some nannies abusive, sure, so are some parents. I would be willing to bet that more children are spanked and hit by parents than by nannies.
Men can breastfeed but that is only a year and they can hold a bottle of expressed milk. You parents solution was perfect, IMO. The lower earner stays home, IMO.
One wage is enough if you are willing to live within your means. Yes, my husband has a good job but we also live frugally. What do I need a $400,000 home for? I hate cleaning house and more house means more house cleaning. I didn't stay home to be a maid. My philosophy is "A clean house is a sign of a misspent life."

About the hijab can it also be used as a tool of oppression. I've read some arguments that say it can be be a positive and negative thing

Shia or the Ahlal-Bayt are also Muslims to say otherwise shows ignorance and causes further divide within the Muslim world.
