I wasn't trying to sound like Feist. In my opinion, when one plays a cover, they should put some of their own spin to it. I'm playing the same chords she is, but purposely voiced differently.
I think you did a great job! I love this song and it sounded very good! What chords are you using? yours sounds better than the ones i've been using... =)
Thanks so much for the compliment! I'm not playing in any clubs right now. My job is too time consuming and life-sucking at the moment. :( Maybe over the summer if every place isn't completely booked, my band can get a gig. We are finishing a demo right now.
On a slightly related note, what guitar are you using? Looks exactly like the Dean acoustic electric (w/ built in tuner) I use in my videos, was just curious...
It's a Gretsch 3366 "Historic Series" I actually don't know too much about it, I just played it at the store and knew I HAD to have it. I also have a Dean, but its a lower line instrument, so it's sound isn't as good. (and there's no cutaway.) Your instrument is beautiful!
I'm a youtube noob (tubenoob?). I apologize for sounding like a doofus. I checked out your other videos, and your husbands, and your band myspace. Enjoyed it all, especially your violin on Grit. You guys rock!! And your video of 1234 is really good--you connect with the camera and put your personality into it, so comes across fantastic. Good luck, hope to see more of your stuff.
I don't make videos for advice. I have a degree in music. I know exactly what I'm doing and why. Its not always going to be perfect. thats ok. it seems like people give criticisms expecting that I'm waiting for their personal opinion and that I should either do what they say, or quit. I've been playing for 15 or 16 years now. most of the people criticizing me think I'm new at it, or themselves have nothing that shows me that they have superior musical ability, so why should I take the advice?
I have a crummy camera with a built in mic. a couple of my videos were made using a better mic. I'm just having fun, not looking for the best quality. I will never stop practicing. I have a degree in music. I'm not just a girl with a guitar just starting out.
good job, continue!!!

You should play this in drop D and use power chords.
Not that you don't do a good job singing the song, just that your guitar playing honestly sounds nothing like what Leslie Fiest plays in this song.

You should be a bit closer to the mic. Keep practicing--you have a strong voice and obviously you put a lot of passion into singing.

I will, thank you for posting! These covers are SO helpful in figuring out the songs, and it's so neat to see the different interpretations.
