@XfireBlake don't underestimate the GTO. It is a little heavy but puts down 340whp stock. A bolt on GTO can be in the low 12's. I have not lost in my GTO yet and the kill list consists of SRT4, WRX, 911 Carrera and 370Z. The LS2 GTO is a real monster for the highway.

@lilkdude8687 haven driven both cars and owning an LS2 GTO I can assure you the LS2 GTO is much faster than a stock SRT4. Even one with the boost turned up and exhaust can't outrun an LS2 GTO. SRT4's are very fast but the LS2 GTO is a complete beast stock.

These LS6 motors are not cheap to mod. This is not a 1971 Chevy V8. It is an LS6. Heads, exhaust, intake $3300 plus. Turbo kit or SC kit $5000 +. So even if you just did the Turbo or SC kit you are spending more. And used a 05 06 GTO is over 20K for a decent one. So it will cost 25K + to do it right. And I am not talking about Nitrous, that sucks for a street car. Expensive to fill the bottles ($40) and you only get 4 or 5 full runs out of a bottle. Nitrous is a PIA.
@bikeandboard95 Yes, you're right. It's an LS2. Only a few people can fab up a kit for a supercharger or Turbo set up. Most people can't even put on their own headers, let alone a whole turbo or SC set up. So, sure you can do it cheap if you do it yourself. But only 1% of the people that own can do that. Most have to buy a complete kit and then pay someone to put it on and tune it. So your looking at a lot more than $3300. Plus, that is what I put into my car, turbo and supporting mods.
@bikeandboard95 I admit, I installed it myself. I don't let anyone work on my car and it saves me a ton of money. I have been a mechanic for 30 years so I do my own work. People still think that 4 cylinders can't make power, or it will take 20k to do it. Technology and the support they have makes it just as easy to make a 4 cylinder make power. Sure 18 lbs of boost in a V8 will make more power than in a 4, that is just physics. But forced induction is replacement for displacement.
@6speedlover I realize my comment left off when I accidentally posted before I could say 800 lbs lighter than a GTO. I at no point said turbo, It is the stock AMG roots blower with magnetic clutch. I only have one video of running a modded Goat but it was only a 3rd gear quick roll since I had to brake for traffic. You can't really tell much from it other than he took off first and I got past him before we slammed on the brakes.

It has Forged Steel Rods, Steel crank shaft. They over built it so it will handle 500hp with the stock bottom end.

@BoardTHPS The MR2 is a cool car but a little harder to mod because of price of parts, plus Toyota puts a lot of hoses, wires and tubes in their engine bays. I don't like working on them but they are good cars and with a few mods are quick. My friend has a Toyota Celica All Trac Turbo, same motor as the Turbo MR2. It's a pain to work on too. But it is a neat car. I wish I lived in Florida. I tried to get a job there but they weren't hiring. I work in the casino business now.
@BoardTHPS Working on Porsche's was fun and I had a lot of perks. But the work was hard and the pay at the time was only mediocre. Plus it took the fun out of working on my own car. I built engines for Porsche Club racing. We did it all but the engines were the most common. I live in Denver now. Florida is a cool place but humid as hell. I don't mind it but the cars do. You should hold off on the mods to your car, keep it nice and sell it to get a Mazda Speed 3.
@BoardTHPS They are built for a turbo and there is a ton of upgrade mods for them. You can get one that is 2 or 3 years old for pretty cheap. 13k and less for a 2007 cheaper in another year or two. If you put a turbo on your car you will have to swap out rods and pistons and more to be able to boost more than 5lbs. That is not worth even putting a turbo on it without the bottom end parts. So, you would spend 6k on the motor plus turbo and supporting mods. That plus the car = more than 13K.
@DOHC66 Well the one I have now has around 55k miles on it, so I was planning on buying a fairly new 06 with 20k or less miles on it and keep it as a side project; doing stuff when I can. I definitely can't afford to do anything right now with it lol

@pawns17 I said 03 because that is when my friend got it. Don't care if it was considered an 04 even though in my other post I addressed this same issue. Car and driver tested the car and ran 5.3 0 to 60 and 14.0 to 13.6 1/4 mile time. The SRT 4 does 13.9 to 13.8 it sounds like a drivers race.
@pawns17 The GTO is a little better at the track because of the rear wheel drive, the SRT 4 is better on the street because it is lighter and has a better power to weight ratio. 9.13 lbs per hp (SRT4) 9.39 lbs per hp (GTO) The GTO weighs 3725 it is a boat. The SRT 4 is easier and cheaper to modify than the GTO. I bought my SRT 4 for 18k and put another $3500 for a total of 21.5k. Still cheaper than the GTO (new at the time) and I run 12.8 @ 112 mph at only 19 lbs of boost. And I get good MPG.
@DOHC66 The GTO is going to handle better because it is RWD and the front wheels only have to worry about steering. THe skittle is going to suck all around cause of that nasty torque steer, understeer, and all the other problems that go along with crappy FWD. The GTO has to weigh more cause it has almost twice the horsepower out of a RWD car, that doesnt constitute it being a boat. it is still well under the 4,000lb mark

And as far as the car being heavy as shit because of the HP? That is ignorant, why do Indy cars only weigh 2200lbs with 700hp. Why do Ferrari's and Lambo's weigh less than 3000lbs? And they are making 600hp plus. My 71 Oldsmobile Cutlass 2dr only weighed 3700lbs and it was a boat. GTO 2dr midsize car @ 3840lbs = boat
@TheAndyM16 Don't get me wrong, I like the GTO, especially the 05 06 years. My friend has an 05 with exhaust, intake and a chip. Awesome car and fast. But I beat him from a dig by 2.5 cars. He pulled me 2.5 cars off the line but I caught up and passed him. He bought it used for 26k, I bought mine for 18k NEW and put $3500 in it for a total of $23500. Still cheaper than his car and faster.
@TheAndyM16 Stopping power, the SRT 4 stops in 112 feet from 60mph, the GTO 125 ft. A Lambo Gallardo does it in 117 feet. It stops better than a Lamborghini that costs $260K and weighs 3150 lbs. That is impressive on stock brakes for a car under 20K. Shit it's a 4 cylinder car that rocks most V8's. My car has been taking me beating on it for 8 years 84K miles (2 with the 50 trim turbo 25k miles) and has not broken down on me. I broke the 3rd gear shift fork, but that was me abusing it.
@DOHC66 In addition to that, the gto runs low 13's/ high 12's relatively stock so high 12's are nothing new. As far as cost to mod. The pushrod LS motors are incredibly cheap to mod, so I dont know what you are talking about. And dont even try to say anything about mpg, cause for a 6.0l v8, it gets decent and can get even better depending on how you drive it. Not to mention overall quality. The GTO is overall better quality. and the Neons received the worst ratings.
@TheAndyM16 And MPG, the 05 06 GTO gets ok 23 highway MPG but city is 15 MPG, which is what you are mostly going to see. My SRT 4 22 city 28 hwy. The GTO is decent on the highway because of the 6 speed tremec trans. That is cool, the GTO is built better, but the SRT 4 for the price is a great car, It was rated world wide as the fastest car in the world for under 20K. Even if you hate it you have to respect what Dodge did. They made a car that smoked Japanese cars at their own game for cheaper.
@TheAndyM16 And worst ratings? That is for the regular Neon, the SRT 4 got great reviews. It is only okay in crash tests but that is not what we are talking about. It is a small car of early 2000, most cars of it's size were only okay in crash tests at that time. But I have beaten the crap out of mine it still looks almost new. Outside always. But I never take it to the drive through car washes. They use ammonia in the presoak and it kills the clear coat on cars. Everything works, no leaks.

@bikeandboard95 Yes, you're right. It's an LS2. Only a few people can fab up a kit for a supercharger or Turbo set up. Most people can't even put on their own headers, let alone a whole turbo or SC set up. So, sure you can do it cheap if you do it yourself. But only 1% of the people that own can do that. Most have to buy a complete kit and then pay someone to put it on and tune it. So your looking at a lot more than $3300. Plus, that is what I put into my car, turbo and supporting mods.

@bikeandboard95 I admit, I installed it myself. I don't let anyone work on my car and it saves me a ton of money. I have been a mechanic for 30 years so I do my own work. People still think that 4 cylinders can't make power, or it will take 20k to do it. Technology and the support they have makes it just as easy to make a 4 cylinder make power. Sure 18 lbs of boost in a V8 will make more power than in a 4, that is just physics. But forced induction is replacement for displacement.

@6speedlover I realize my comment left off when I accidentally posted before I could say 800 lbs lighter than a GTO. I at no point said turbo, It is the stock AMG roots blower with magnetic clutch. I only have one video of running a modded Goat but it was only a 3rd gear quick roll since I had to brake for traffic. You can't really tell much from it other than he took off first and I got past him before we slammed on the brakes.

He bogged out of the hole big time. So, no I don't think he cheated. The second edition of the modern GTO is very fast and way underrated. My SRT4 when stock would tear up an 03 GTO but I had to have my 50 trim to kill the 05's. They are not just 50hp more than the 03 like the brochure says. Trust me.

It's not the cars fault it is owned by a dick. It was designed by the guys who designed the Viper. They did it in their spare and off time. They had to keep it under 20K or Dodge wouldn't sell it. It has Forged Steel Rods, Steel crank shaft. They over built it so it will handle 500hp with the stock bottom end.

@BoardTHPS That is why it has a cheap interior. I wanted a fast tough car I could mod and it wouldn't break down on me. It never has and it has 80k with 25K running a big turbo upgrade. I ran 12.8 @ 112 and it is all on the stock bottom end. If I had a ton of money I would own so many damn cars. All makes and types because there are so many that are cool. Pick yourself up, get it together and get another cool car. Don't hate on others cars because life sucks sometimes. We all go through it.

@BoardTHPS The MR2 is a cool car but a little harder to mod because of price of parts, plus Toyota puts a lot of hoses, wires and tubes in their engine bays. I don't like working on them but they are good cars and with a few mods are quick. My friend has a Toyota Celica All Trac Turbo, same motor as the Turbo MR2. It's a pain to work on too. But it is a neat car. I wish I lived in Florida. I tried to get a job there but they weren't hiring. I work in the casino business now.

@BoardTHPS Working on Porsche's was fun and I had a lot of perks. But the work was hard and the pay at the time was only mediocre. Plus it took the fun out of working on my own car. I built engines for Porsche Club racing. We did it all but the engines were the most common. I live in Denver now. Florida is a cool place but humid as hell. I don't mind it but the cars do. You should hold off on the mods to your car, keep it nice and sell it to get a Mazda Speed 3.

@BoardTHPS They are built for a turbo and there is a ton of upgrade mods for them. You can get one that is 2 or 3 years old for pretty cheap. 13k and less for a 2007 cheaper in another year or two. If you put a turbo on your car you will have to swap out rods and pistons and more to be able to boost more than 5lbs. That is not worth even putting a turbo on it without the bottom end parts. So, you would spend 6k on the motor plus turbo and supporting mods. That plus the car = more than 13K.

@pawns17 I said 03 because that is when my friend got it. Don't care if it was considered an 04 even though in my other post I addressed this same issue. Car and driver tested the car and ran 5.3 0 to 60 and 14.0 to 13.6 1/4 mile time. The SRT 4 does 13.9 to 13.8 it sounds like a drivers race.

@pawns17 The GTO is a little better at the track because of the rear wheel drive, the SRT 4 is better on the street because it is lighter and has a better power to weight ratio. 9.13 lbs per hp (SRT4) 9.39 lbs per hp (GTO) The GTO weighs 3725 it is a boat. The SRT 4 is easier and cheaper to modify than the GTO. I bought my SRT 4 for 18k and put another $3500 for a total of 21.5k. Still cheaper than the GTO (new at the time) and I run 12.8 @ 112 mph at only 19 lbs of boost. And I get good MPG.

@DOHC66 The GTO is going to handle better because it is RWD and the front wheels only have to worry about steering. THe skittle is going to suck all around cause of that nasty torque steer, understeer, and all the other problems that go along with crappy FWD. The GTO has to weigh more cause it has almost twice the horsepower out of a RWD car, that doesnt constitute it being a boat. it is still well under the 4,000lb mark

And as far as the car being heavy as shit because of the HP? That is ignorant, why do Indy cars only weigh 2200lbs with 700hp. Why do Ferrari's and Lambo's weigh less than 3000lbs? And they are making 600hp plus. My 71 Oldsmobile Cutlass 2dr only weighed 3700lbs and it was a boat. GTO 2dr midsize car @ 3840lbs = boat

@TheAndyM16 Don't get me wrong, I like the GTO, especially the 05 06 years. My friend has an 05 with exhaust, intake and a chip. Awesome car and fast. But I beat him from a dig by 2.5 cars. He pulled me 2.5 cars off the line but I caught up and passed him. He bought it used for 26k, I bought mine for 18k NEW and put $3500 in it for a total of $23500. Still cheaper than his car and faster.

@TheAndyM16 Stopping power, the SRT 4 stops in 112 feet from 60mph, the GTO 125 ft. A Lambo Gallardo does it in 117 feet. It stops better than a Lamborghini that costs $260K and weighs 3150 lbs. That is impressive on stock brakes for a car under 20K. Shit it's a 4 cylinder car that rocks most V8's. My car has been taking me beating on it for 8 years 84K miles (2 with the 50 trim turbo 25k miles) and has not broken down on me. I broke the 3rd gear shift fork, but that was me abusing it.

@DOHC66 In addition to that, the gto runs low 13's/ high 12's relatively stock so high 12's are nothing new. As far as cost to mod. The pushrod LS motors are incredibly cheap to mod, so I dont know what you are talking about. And dont even try to say anything about mpg, cause for a 6.0l v8, it gets decent and can get even better depending on how you drive it. Not to mention overall quality. The GTO is overall better quality. and the Neons received the worst ratings.

@TheAndyM16 And MPG, the 05 06 GTO gets ok 23 highway MPG but city is 15 MPG, which is what you are mostly going to see. My SRT 4 22 city 28 hwy. The GTO is decent on the highway because of the 6 speed tremec trans. That is cool, the GTO is built better, but the SRT 4 for the price is a great car, It was rated world wide as the fastest car in the world for under 20K. Even if you hate it you have to respect what Dodge did. They made a car that smoked Japanese cars at their own game for cheaper.

@TheAndyM16 And worst ratings? That is for the regular Neon, the SRT 4 got great reviews. It is only okay in crash tests but that is not what we are talking about. It is a small car of early 2000, most cars of it's size were only okay in crash tests at that time. But I have beaten the crap out of mine it still looks almost new. Outside always. But I never take it to the drive through car washes. They use ammonia in the presoak and it kills the clear coat on cars. Everything works, no leaks.

I'd really like to know what defines "every possible bolt on" there was no wideband in the car, whats the use of having every possible bolt on when u can't tell how its effecting the AFR. An intake and exhaust don't justify it. Also, why in gods name would u ever try to race a GTO from a dig...everyone and their mothers know that SRT's are the worst cars from a dig.
