I have been on both sides, I am a service fitter and there is a lot of dis-information. It isnt fair to compare Non-union shops to that of china-mart, also, there is the same shady work coming from union shops as non-union shops. There are people that take pride in their work on both sides. As far as pay goes, there isnt much difference, your not paying dues from your check and as in union companies the employer still pays the ins. premium not the union. Lastly, Unions do not create jobs.
This is a hideous, evil idea. "Right to work" is theft, saying that a union can work for you but you don't have to pay for it. It's the radical right trying to gut ALL workers rights, protection for the safety and rights of workers.
My husband is a Union Member and is proud of the work that he does. He has spent 7 years obtaining the best possible learning experience and on the job training. He personally sees the inferior work that is done in our state. What do these stores and businesses have 5 years from now. Work being redone and mountains of repairs at a high cost because they have chosen not to use union labor. My husband can expect a 30% decline in pay and benefits if MO becomes Right to Work.
I am a union member and no person is forced into a union. There are plenty of successful non-union businesses in Missouri. Take for example Wal-Mart. I do not want to see wages of union or non-union employees drop due to the "Right To Work" laws. It is not fair to the families of hard working people to see their way of life go down the drain.
