I have DirecTV (used to have Dish, actually), and it's shocking how many things they misrepresented here. You can watch two games at the same time with Dish...but you can watch SIX at the same time with DTV's SportsMix. Can't scroll forward with DTV? Yes you can...use the green and red buttons to go +/-12 hours. DTV also has an app that allows you to control your DVR *AND* a new guide that's faster and looks better than Dish's. DTV also has MUCH better service than Dish! This video is hilarious.

I liked Dish way better than Direct TV. Ever since we switched to Direct TV, I've lost a lot of channels i've ALWAYS watched with Dish. With Direct TV I'm always seeing those "Direct TV is better than Dish" commercials and it's obviously filled with lies since Dish actually DOES show the shows that they say they don't... I miss Dish -__-. Plus Direct TV lied a LOT to us promising things they never gave us.. Ugh...

dish is bullshit i was supposed to get it last week when the guy came over we already paid $140 for the down payment... he wasnt picking up a signal so we had to get a different satellite which cost an ADDITIONAL $150 so i had to wait an extra week to get cause i needed my pay check so so far i have spent almost $300 on this shit the guy came over today and was like you have to pay for us to hook it up on the roof i was pissed so fuck these damn cable companies u guys are all talk !!

I actually use both, they both have their positives and negatives and although Direct TV is MUCH more expensive their DVR can record two TV shows and STILL watch another show. The Dish Network DVR can record two shows but DOES NOT let you watch live TV... that's LAME and really that's why I got a DVR, once my 'contract' is up with Dish, I am switching to Direct TV....

Directv not so much. rain never takes our tv out only heavy black clouds which is like 2x a year for less than 30 min. 2 dishes are needed with dish because one is for local channels and they r incl. in price.

Well, my grandmother has directive and I have dish, and I prefer dish's interface, recording space, and variety. Customer service is excellent. When I go to my grandmothers, directv is ok, but I still prefer dish. I switched from directv to dish two years ago, and I was against it. Now, I love dish.

On DirecTV:
1) You can scroll by page (6 lines) instead of just line by line
2) You can skip 12 hours into the future at a time.
3) Dish counts part time and On Demand HD channels as HD Channels. Last I checked, people want the channels they watch most of the time to be HD full time.

I recently switched to directv because dish no longer carries FSN, FX, and National geographic, they also might lose more fox networks, depending one which ones you might not to be able to watch pro football. Who really cares if dishes DVR can scroll faster, it really doesn't matter, who can read that fast anyway? Directv has more and will get more customers because Dish is losing networks. No matter what commercials you put out Dishes HD sucks and so does there customer service.

I have DISH in my Room and my dad had Direct in his house. Direct would not let him get a 3rd HD Receiver for my room so I went with DISH. I like DISH better then DIRECT TV and now I am only paying $40/a month and he is paying like $60/a month.

This hardware comparison isn't telling the entire truth.
On DirecTV:
1) You can scroll by page (6 lines) instead of just line by line
2) You can skip 12 hours into the future at a time.
3) Dish counts part time and On Demand HD channels as HD Channels. Last I checked, people want the channels they watch most of the time to be HD full time.

I recently switched to directv because dish no longer carries FSN, FX, and National geographic, they also might lose more fox networks, depending one which ones you might not to be able to watch pro football. Who really cares if dishes DVR can scroll faster, it really doesn't matter, who can read that fast anyway? Directv has more and will get more customers because Dish is losing networks. No matter what commercials you put out Dishes HD sucks and so does there customer service.

@iGAMER95 I realize your comment is from three months ago, but I just now went to Dish's site and they do indeed have all three channels you say they dropped. I looked on the 260 channel package, which is still cheaper than what I am paying for DirecTV now. Probably for the exact same stuff and more it seems.

@iGAMER95 I wouldn't blame Fox, I would blame Dish because Dish was the one that dropped those channels, not Fox. And yes, you are right... Directv is better. Dish used to be the best ever, but not anymore.

I have Dish and I don't have Pic in Pic.. This is the first time I've seen this. And I don't have the 4 DVR recording. I just have 2.. When and where did this come out? This must be with the new DVR or something. Or New Dish. I don't have any of this stuff.

at least dtv dsnt offer u a lot of music channels like u pay to listen to musice (come on) dtv dosnt offer a lot of music channels as dish does, dtv is the biggest company regarding hd channels, dvr service, nfl seasons, to make this short dish sucks, period.

ok we switched from directv to dish. worst decision ever. first off we loose the satellite signal and when we call its always some foreign guy we dont know what he is saying. So a specialist came out and redone the wiring, but left the fucking wire out of the ground. We loose the satellite signal all the fucking time and the remotes are shit. Directv is better. Dish needs to fucking die

@rockar203 Not any more. Just at one point both companies need two dishes, for HD. It is just how it goes. But, go ahead and pay more for your programming. I have DISH in my Room and my dad had Direct in his house. Direct would not let him get a 3rd HD Receiver for my room so I went with DISH. I like DISH better then DIRECT TV and now I am only paying $40/a month and he is paying like $60/a month.

directv is better-why? compare their basic packages-if you get dish you won't have to spend like $5 extra but you lose bunches of channels.
a lot of their hd is only part time
on dish you can't get channels like ion and teenick and other channels with interviews and concerts
if you have dish you have to pay extra for local sports??
