@kamo69 just noticed that. Methinks it's both of them loving the over-arching conflicts of one side vs the other. Even if it's over-done, stupid and nonsensical.
I love how they wanted to put the young guys over, but as soon as Sting, Sid, and DDP come out you just see the star power that puts the jobbers in the ring to shame.
@EnigmaXtreme actually I read that it was SUPPOSED to be New Blood as FACES but everybody cheered the Millionares Club so the M club turned out to be the faces
@EnigmaXtreme It was supposed to be the other way round but it was basically due to the fans cheering for the millionaires rather than the young talent, which was bizarre.
While Sid Vicious was world champion, the WWF was busy laying the ground for Benoit, Jericho, and Angle's big time pushes, as well as E&C, the Hardys, and the Dudleys' tag team greatness.
Here's what's so crazy about The New Blood: IT WAS GENIUS!!! Its funny how many good ideas WCW turned bad. They SHOULD have been heels! Lie, cheat and steal (RIp Eddie) to the top and make the older vets we know and love the "good guys." Great idea. But of course, they wanted the NB as faces, so they dropped the idea. Instead of slowly turning guys from side to side in what could have been a year-long gimmick, the rush out of doing it. And it helped kill WCW. Dammit all.
@mottm565 the rushed it because of presser from time-warner who at this time only cared about making as much money as possible so they put presser on russo, bischoff and the creative team to turn WCW around when they (time-warner) really didn't want anything to do with wresting
@ilikescsa2004 Couldn't agree more. What's sad is that even after the Russo/Hoga/BATB 2000 fiasco, Bischoff wanted to buy WCW, but Time Warner cancelled the programming on all stations. Not sure why, when if they got spending under control, they would be fine... but it was a bad move, overall. It's too bad, too. Wrestling really became stale after Vince had control over the industry (or the mass media portion). I hope Hogan/Bischoff have plans for TNA, because we need it for great wrestling.
@mottm565 I said it many times before, the day vince bought wcw something died in wrestling, their was and still is no competition to the wwe, wcw was that competition and it made for great viewing, hell at the time people said this wasnt great tv but compared to the crap that is on in wwe and tna now this is brilliant.
@mottm565 But TNA will never be competition because they're dumb all that money they waste signing Ex WWE guys football players useless legends they could use that many and at least make Impact Live Every week the booking sucks nobody in TNA thinks its the best company in the world cuz all they talk about what wwe isn't doin WWE doesn't curse or WWE didn't let me be me so what get over it u don't hear EX TNA guys on air bash TNA in wwe
Basically Bischoff and Russo were saying "Out with the old and in with the new". Yet standing right behind them with the New Blood is Brian Knobbs!? :S
@theraptorfan this storyline wasnt realy about heels and faces.this was about turning new page.Whole idea was to turn whole wrestling world against veterans (even though New Blood had lots of veterans like Scott Steiner,Jeff Jerrett,Ernest Miller,Vampiro, even so called young hot shot Kidman etc).Bookers expected fans to be on side of New Blood but as you can see from start thats not what happened
yep, true (from what i heard) i think if the Millonaire's Club had Bischoff and others, then the new blood would've been booed, but the fact that Jarrett was there pretty much made WCW fans hate the New Blood it seemed.
I felt sorry for Sid Vicious. He was acctualy good guy at that point after being heel before that under Milennium Man gimick and feud with Goldberg.Even though I was fan of New Blood back then,I wished that Sid Vicious would be member of it but it never happened..
We all knew back then that Russo and Flair had real-life issues for many years ever since Flair was fired from WWF thanks to Russo and came to WCW.Some parts of this storyline were acctualy for real
@mirtom82 Flair wasn't fired he quit, and Vince Russo didn't even join the WWE creative team until 3 years later. Anyway he wouldn't have had the power to fire anyone.
I was huge fan of WCW and this was by far happiest day of my fan-life.Too bad it didn`t work out.Fans started cheering old guys instead of New Blood and whole thing was called off within 2 months
The old guys were the "faces" in this storyline. Russo and Bischoff were booked as the heels. Hell, you can tell that just from this one show. The fans were supposed to cheer the "old guys".
@pindude61 Perhaps the most famous shoot brawl of all. Lots of versions of this story. Sid started going off on how Arn had never drawn money, and they had both been drinking. Words were exchanged and maybe a beer was thrown, but both went back to their hotel rooms. Sid later went to Arn’s room and blindsided him with an object, and started a pummeling an unconscious Arn. Arn woke up and the two really got into it. Scissors were involved and the entire hotel hallway was smeared with blood.
I know what ur getting at because if you think about it everything bischoff was saying about the millionaires club scripted or not was actually true. The fact that the likes of hogan wouldnt step aside and help the younger wrestlers come through was what destroyed wcw, also bad management i know but this was a big reason in my opinion why ratings went downhill fast.
This was all pretty good, except they shouldn't have stripped all the title belts off the champions. It was kind of a slap in the face to the guys who'd earned those belts.
The New Blood angle is the reason Time-Warner sold WCW,

It shouldnt have been 4,000 members of the new blood and like 3 guys from the Millionare's club, this storyline was screwed up from minute one.
