  • @bakersfieldmusicnow thank you! :) I'm perfect now! I forget I even have a metal spine most of the time now!

  • U should do a 1 year follow up video. How are ya? I hope all went well for you, Im 33 and have scoliosis, but they wont do nothing about mine.

  • @bulletsbaby95 i experienced the same dizziness (more lightheaded) during my surgery, and felt nauseous the first 3 days in the hospital that came with tons of unforgettable pain, it was definitely an experience i will never forget. but now, its well worth it... until it becomes bikini season with a 10 inch scar lol :)

  • You totally blew me away with this video and your frank comments. Thanks so much for sharing. I am 47 years old and just went through my second fusion. The first was last year October 2010. I know how painful my two levels of fusion have been, which makes me appreciate all the more what you went through. You are one of the bravest teenagers I've seen on YouTube. My blogspot documenting my second operaton is secondfusion.blogspot.com. Best of everything for you in your future.

  • You are very brave! My 8 year old son has infantile idiopathic scoliosis, which will require fusion in a few years. I see you're consultant is Mr Connolly, he's great we love him. He did a good job. I'm glad it went well. Will the rods come out in a year or so after the bone grafting and your spine has healed? xx

  • @snowgirl06ify Thank you!! oh, I hope it goes well for you and your son! yes, he's a brilliant consultant! no, for me the rods will stay in forever but sometimes they take them out....I'm not sure when, but mine will never come out! I think that's maybe a good thing for me though because I'm so used to the rods being there, it would be strange for me if they were gone!! thanks for watching, and if you have any more questions, feel free to ask!! :)

  • @RFKFMM Thats great, I'll probably have lots of questions!! We went to see Mr C last Monday and he said fusion is the only way we can go. Oisin too will have a perminant rod. Until then we back to growing rods which will go back in after christmas :))

  • I think you are very brave to have gone through all that. It's the past and has been worth it !

  • Hi! I'm Lindsey and I'm 21. I had my Spinal Fusion when I was 14 years old. My spine was 65 degrees to the left shaped like the letter C. I know how hard it was. It was extremely painful for me, but I got through it and now my back has been better ever since. I'm really happy you posted this! A lot of people don't know what it is and how hard it is afterwards. It took me a year to feel like my 'normal' self again! I'm glad you are doing well :)

  • Hey I had a very similar operation just over 4 weeks ago. I still can't tie my own shoes or put my socks on, which is extremely frustrating. We're you not able to put on your own shoes, and if so, how long was it before you were able to again? So far the recovery process has been very exhausting and hard for me, and I really hope it gets better...

  • @CarbineGuy hello!! oh..I know exactly what you mean!! don't worry, it gets better...well, it kind of happened over a few months...you don't recover all in 1 go...you just learn to do stuff again at a slow pace....I made a video of my recovery if you'd like to watch it...and don't push yourself too hard....4 weeks feels like a long time but it's 9 months ago for me and I'm still recovering!! Well done and get well soon!! :)

  • i had this done aswell my case wasnt as bad same op butand like you i was youg turned 15 the day i got out great birthay lol you did very very well and you should be proud of yourself not a easy thing to recover from

  • @Baby29Cakes thanks....ye, it was very tough but it definitely was worth having!! I'm completely back to normal now and clothes fit me properly!! haha...if I had to do it again, I would!

  • Hi. I'm 17 and my scoliosis has been monitored for about 3 years. I've been through the uncomfortable braces they force people into and it did nothing for me. I've been told that I'm going to have to have the surgery. My xrays look about like yours did. I was wondering about the flexibility afterward.. Are you limited now?

  • @LittleDeviant94 Hi!! Thanks for watching!! em...well it's been nearly 7 months now and I am limited but not as much as you might think...before, I was able to bend down and touch my toes but now I can only reach just under my knees...I'm double jointed so I was very flexible before so for me, it took some getting used to but don't worry about it!! I find it difficult to turn around when I'm sitting down, like to look behind me and stuff and my neck is a bit more limited but it's not awful!!

  • hey what hospital did you have your surgery ? i had something called spondoliosisthesis and had surgery 6 weeks ago at cappagh orthapeadic hospital in Finglas, ireland.

just watched your vid, and you were in the same room as me at the start before your op, a room on your own. and my consultant was also mr connolly. :)

  • @Jordan19930 Really?? that's so cool!! ye, thats the hospital I was in!! :) wow....thanks for watching!! :)

  • Aww! I just had this surgery done, too. Check out my video? Your screws are really crooked...are they supposed to be in yours? God Bless you! Stay strong!

  • @SillyStephSings Hey I hope your ok after your surgery. Yes, thats just the way the screws were put in. Theyre supposed to be like that. Thanks for watching.

  • @RFKFMM I thought they were! Haha. Thank you! I'm just waiting for the 3 month...FIVE DAYS! :) Can't wait until I can dance again!
