I still love the live version from Live at The Continental and The Esplanade best. Seems like the piano just changes the sentiment of the song a bit and it feels like the defining cut of the song in my mind.
Love Pk. Love this song but there are too many affects (flange\phaser thing for instance on the axe especially) on this version. The ABC DIG are the way to go for PK - keep it simple with an acoustic and an axe playing some purty stuff over the top
I love PK but I you an ejit if you don't like him. In the pantheon of greats - dunno how we could have a most brilliant when we have produced 20 or so brilliant songwriters
Great song, terrible sound quality

It's a dead heat between this and "I see you, you see me" by the Magic Numbers as the greatest love song ever. Paul Kelly is Australia!

Saw him at POW around this time. He played a very similar version to this, put a huge amount of emotion into it, really the highlight of the set.

If you don't like Paul Kelly you're an idiot. He is Australia's most brilliant songwriter of all time.

Paul plays all different kinds of version songs, Slow, soft, hard, fast.
All are great.

Probably the best version i have seen of this great song. REally seems to put so much more emotion into this arrangement
