He started 'playing' with remote flying over at NASA Langley over 30 years ago, and w hen I was going thru his things, I find that he worked thru the manuals for every piece of equipment he owned, so h e could figure out how to fix and repair it even if he was blinded. I think he was always on his own, fully exposed, during the Cold War. I miss him. He was constantly learning until the end.
