i really don't understand why mr ellis was so upset over this picture? i beleive it to be an excellent film [despite what the majority of people on imdb claim]. it was well written [but of course], beautifully shot with decent performances [kim basinger, billy bob thornton and the late brad renfro were particularly good] and christopher young's score was way above the average soundtrack. i loved the book and this film truly does it justice.. so much so that i've re-read the book afterward.

so i watched this movie for the first time last night and i must say it was something. i like the ending where "christie" is dying alone on the beach. apparently she's dying from HIV / AIDS. So im guessing graham, matt, kim basigners characters may have it also. they all slept with the matt character, who i think is the character. that's one lifetystle that i don't want to live.

I'm a fan of Ellis, but this book is definitely his worst work, it just looks like a sketch of Less Than Zero written by Ellis when he was still in his teens, then released to cover the gap between the releases of American Psycho and Glamorama. So you gotta give credit to the director, he managed to make a decent movie out of an almost "unadaptable" novel.
