Does the Pimsleur system go up to intermediate level french? Because I'm been taking french in school for 8 years, so I know a lot of the vocabulary this lesson goes over, my accent just sucks. I think only 3 of those 8 years was actually useful /:

@lildevilshells I lived in Paris for two years - Though my tenses are twisted and various other flaws ; I can absolutely go all day , full immersion is the best . In college , I jumped ahead , and after a year of 9am 3days per week , she failed me on my final . Don't let it intimidate you , you will get better if you study , it sinks in overtime - ( try an hour in Arabic , it will put things in perspective ) I learn visually , books are ???? Add 15 minutes a day , like one verb & its tenses -

I think this approach is very reasonable, and I happen to be a VERY visual person myself. I think I like the narrator explaining the idiosyncrasies of the language. It's very helpful. I took almost 7 years of French between high school and college and don't remember my teachers explaining it as clearly. They were always so intent on ONLY speaking the foreign language and focusing on vocab building and verb conjugation, the fine details got lost in the mix.

this seems like a really dumb way to learn a language. if you guys want a good way to learn a new language, one which takes into account the fact that that we are no longer babies but are adults and now have the tool of the written word at our disposal, look up the "tell me more" program.

Here's how you change the 360 to 480: click in the lower right where it says 360p. That will bring up the option to change to 480p.

I'm doing the Pimsleur method and I'm in lesson 23. While I of course I'm not fluent in French went from zero to reasonable. Some lessons you need to do 2 times, even 3 specially as the lessons get more complicated, but overall I would give Pimsleur a good grade. It has helped me. And by the way, what's up with all the comments about learning in "10" days?? nowhere does it say that, and if it does, it's obviously not true.

@tom123ek : sorry to correct you , but after you studied a few languages it's not really a problem. you can study for 10 days some lang., and then travel to the specified country and manage with the basic expressions you learned.

"Learn a language in 10 days" does not mean "be completely fluent and conversant in 10 days." It means that you will have a basic understanding of the language upon which you can build fluency over time. Pimsleur is 3 months long, but it's still an introduction. You have to start somewhere.

@tom123ek You aren't learning the entire language in 10 days (even though they sometimes market it that way). However, Pimsleur is an excellent way to start learning a language for some people. It will teach you enough to get around or become familiar with how the language is structured. It's also a good refresher and teaches you to memorize.
